Year-201X Location-Mt. Ebott Village
When Frisk opened their eyes again, They realized they weren't in the UNDERGROUND anymore. They found themselves in a small human village. Frisk couldn't believe it. How could this have happened? Frisk started walking into a crowd of people, as if it would shield them from the impossible. Then, they saw someone they never thought they would see. A small child with yellow skin and brown hair. It was themself. They didn't just return to the surface. They returned to the surface to the time just before they fell into the UNDERGROUND.
What happened? What happened to the RESET?
"Are you done yet?" Frisk quickly turned to see Chara standing with their arms crossed. It looked upset, and Frisk was sure they understood why. "Something… happened. I don't know what… But there is one thing I know-" "-We aren't supposed to be here,"
Frisk nodded and looked around. A few people had turned to look at them. "Idiot!" Chara exclaimed, "I'm dead, remember? Nobody else can see me!" Chara quickly disappeared out of sight and Frisk started running away from the scene, not looking back at the judgmental faces of the townspeople.
As Frisk neared a street corner, they quickly moved into an alleyway between two stores, making little eye contact with anyone. When they made it to the back of the alleyway, Frisk suddenly got chills down their spine as they realized what had happened.
The RESET button had glitched. Glitches commonly occur when someone is acting out of character, like if Papyrus started acting rude and inconsiderate for no reason. In this case, Frisk was unsure who was acting out of character, and they wanted to find out.
Chara appeared once again, with an unreadable expression. Frisk looked Chara in the face, "The RESET button glitched… I'm not sure if it can be fixed," Chara's face didn't change, as if they weren't surprised about what had happened. Frisk couldn't understand why. This glitch had never happened before, and Frisk didn't know a way to fix it. What was going to happen? "We should look around and see if there is anything wrong with this time period." Frisk said. They wanted to get to the bottom of this, no matter what it would take.
After they built up the courage, Frisk started heading to the spot where they had seen the child. Soon, they saw their past counterpart walking through the market looking at each of the products, and then the prices.
Frisk moved closer, trying to keep out of sight. However, no matter how hard they tried to keep a low profile, there were always people who would stop, stare, and whisper about the previous scene.
As they neared the child, their anxiety increased. What were they doing? Did they want to get the other child's attention?
They quickly backed away and ran behind one of the booths. They had to stay far away. Eventually, their past self left the market, and Frisk figured they had no reason to follow. So, they turned back and went back to the small alleyway. Chara reappeared, as if on cue.
"What were you doing?"
"I… I don't know."
At this point, Frisk didn't know what else to do. They knew that there was no way they could find anything out the way they were trying to. Frisk shrugged. "I might know where we could go.." Chara said, almost sounding uncertain. "Where?"
Chara looked back toward the sky, and Frisk followed their gaze. Their curiosity turned to uncertainty. They were looking at the mountain. Mt. Ebott.
