"Uhm, Adagio, what is this?" "Tuna, obviously," Adagio replies, knowing well that isn't what Trixie means.
"Uh, no, I mean, why are you giving Trixie this?" Trixie raises an eyebrow, holding the fish at an arm's length. There are claw marks on its body.
"It's a gift from the sea. Humans often give presents as a means to court their lovers, right darling?"
Seeing Trixie blush, Adagio thinks that the blood creeping under her skin makes her look quite tempting.
"It's not exactly like this… but Trixie wouldn't discard a gift made in good faith."
She sits on a rock, next to Adagio, and puts the fish inside the basket she brought with her. She clears her throat.
"I, Trixie, have also brought something for you."
She rummages inside the basket and takes out a colorful bouquet.
"Trixie thought it would be a befitting gift, as she knew it would be uncommon to encounter these in the open sea," she explains, sounding proud.
Adagio takes the bouquet with interest. Of course, she has seen earth flowers at least once, even if she doesn't know the respective names of each kind. She squeezes one of the buds inside her palm, and the petals crumble. They are as fragile, as weak as they look. Nonetheless, their beauty is undeniable.
"How amusing," Adagio says with a slight smile. "These remind me of you, Trixie."
"O-of course! Trixie is as magnificent as roses. She's glad her gift is appreciated."
In contrast to the confidence in her words, her blush becomes more prominent.
"She sure is as delicate as them."
Adagio puts the flowers aside to slide a hand on the back of Trixie's neck. She starts to massage the zone, making circles with her fingers, feeling the muscles underneath tensing.
"Adagio?"
Trixie's eyes seem to question her actions. Adagio's smile widens, and she leans in, resting her head against Trixie's shoulder.
"She also smells as nice. I wonder if she tastes good, too?"
She's not lying.
Using her teeth she grazes the spot where the jugular vein is located, threatening to take a bite, making Trixie shudder. Her fragility and the scent of her fear are an invitation to find out what lies under the frail cover of her skin.
"Adagio, stop it," her voice trembles slightly, making Adagio chuckle.
"Why? Maybe you already know it? That these aren't only useful to catch fish."
She buries her nails into Trixie's skin, making her let out a pained cry.
"Stop it!"
Trixie tries to push her away, but Adagio just laughs. Both of them know doing that is of no use.
"Come on Trixie, don't tell me you are scared. Don't you trust me, little darling?"
She leaves a trail of soft kisses on Trixie's collar, her lips slowly slipping upwards, following the line of her neck. Trixie gulps down.
"Do you want me to stop now?"
Her lips reach Trixie's chin, and she slides her hands from her neck to her cheeks, cupping her face between them. Trixie looks at her with a troubled look and trembling lips. She is delicious just as she is; each reaction makes Adagio want to push her further.
"I…" Trixie tries to say something, but she gives up. She frowns and lowers her eyes.
"You are so confusing," she whispers.
That's the fun of it, Adagio thinks; having her tremble under her fingertips, imbuing her with a myriad of scents.
"And you are as transparent as water," Adagio says before closing the distance between their lips.
