Chapter 4: War

Jones raised his hand in the air as Tie Fighters began arriving into the atmosphere in bigger and bigger numbers, submarines dropping down into the ocean from low orbit.

"Hold it! Don't slam the capstan yet!" He orders his men. As a few more submarines land Jones smirks as he pulls his hand down "Now!" He yells out, the capstan slamming against the ship, creating massive vibrations in the ocean, managing to rock a few of the submarines as well.

As that happens, Jones notices infantry Stormtrooper units being landed onto the small islands around the planet. He lets out an angry but confident "Hngh!" as he turns to Maccus, his second in command "Our friends are deciding to make port on the islands. Go and welcome them" He tells Maccus, the hammerhead smiling from ear to ear as he hears those words from Davy Jones "Aye, captain" He says before he gives off a loud whistle "Men, the invaders are starting to take the islands, we cannot allow that to happen" He tells the crew "So...let's make sure those islands are their graves. With me!" He yells out, jumping into the water as the rest of the crew follow with him, leaving Jones and a few gunmen alone on the ship "Oh Sith Sith, you have no idea how embarrassed and humiliated yer about to be" Jones says with a snicker.

It was then the water shook, waves started getting more and more violent, and an intimidating, downright inhuman rumbling could be heard coming from beneath the waves. The submarine crews of the empire had no idea what they had gotten themselves in.

Large tentacles spring out from the water, waves crashing along with them as it starts to sink the smaller submarines, splitting the bigger ones in half so that it makes it easier to destroy and sink them. The few who were not caught within the first wave of the Kraken's fury try their hardest to either escape or kill it, firing their torpedoes and lasers at it but it is all in vain. The giant ocean goliath drown the small contingent of the Imperial Navy with barely any hardship, crushing metal, twisting rebar, pulling out some of the troopers right from their submarines to feast on their bodies, the screams of help drowned by the ocean waves as Jones looks on, proud of his pet. 30 submarines in total, destroyed in a matter of minutes by a technologically inferior foe. Embarrassing and humiliating would be the understatement of the century.

The couple hundred soldiers in total that managed to land on the islands didn't have the time to think or even comprehend the devastation that just went before them because soon, on every single island's shore heads started appearing out of the water as slowly but surely, Maccus and his crewmates made port.

"Fire!" One Stormtrooper shouted out as the rest of his squadmates focused back on the approaching crew members swarming each respective island. Lasers cut through the air in the hundreds, an complete hellfire being rained upon the crew of the Dutchman. But, just like with Vader, the numbers were overwhelming. The fact that the watery composition of the crewmates along with the sea weed, crustaceans and shells made their skin incredibly resistant to laser fire. All the Stormtroopers could do was try their best to make their last stands as Maccus and his subordinates took over the islands one by one, leaving nothing but piles of corpses in their wake.

Seeing that everything was going relatively smoothly, Jones decided to take care of one last problem: The Tie Fighters whizzing about in the air "Oglivey!" Jones called upon his head gunner as the creature with coral for a face made his way towards Jones "Yes, Captain?" He said, looking at him "Rearrange the equipment to fire in the air and let them taste the triple guns" He said, giving him order "Aye, Captain" Oglivey responded with his gravely inhuman voice. The head gunner and the rest of his subordinates uncoiled and unclatched the guns from their positions, aiming them at the air "Wait for them to get closer, then fire on my command" Oglivey told his subordinates. As the Tie Fighters were ready to make another round of laser hellfire Oglivey had them right where he wanted "Fire!"

The triple guns started singing their deadly hymn, cannonballs flying into the air, almsot as if propelled with the wind itself as they made multiple direct strikes on the Tie Fighters that were the closest to the Dutchman "Rotate!" Oglivey yelled out as the gunners gave it their all to rotate the triple guns. This had to be done manually at the moment, considering they were uncoiled from their automatic rotators. That however have time for the surviving Tie Fighters to start firing again, managing to kill a few of the gunners. However this proved to be a wrong decision as once the guns got rotated it left the Tie Fighters, who had to get close to strike at the gunners, completely exposed, sinking into the vast ocean once more.

At the base up above the planet, Vader was watching this entire disaster unfold on the many screens and communication devices within the base. To see well trained soldiers of the empire defeated by a force so technologically inferior was embarrassing to be sure, but the Sith Lord couldn't help but admire the utter merciless brutality of the Dutchman, its crew and captain. It was truly something to behold.

Vader knew that the Empire would probably manage to take the planet. After all, the force that was sent down there, while crushed and beaten, was barely 10 percent of what they had on the base. However, the fact that these 10 percent were dealt with so relatively easy by Davy Jones and his crewmates made Vader weigh the cost-gain factor. This seemingly landless planet with very few good resources and complete hostile life which was at the whims of a powerful captain was not worth the manpower and sheer war campaign it would take to conquer it. So, Vader made a decision "Commander...retreat your surviving Tie Fighters and submarines back to base, we're abandoning the mission" he tells him "I um...Lord Vader i...are we giving up?" He asked him nervously " That planet commander is not worth the effort and resources it would require to take it over. Therefore i think leaving it alone would be more beneficial to us than taking it. Don't make me say it again commander" Vader says, his tone more stern as the commander nods "All units, retreat back to base, we're abandoning the mission" He calls out through the communication channels as the Tie Fighter stop their fight with the Dutchman and fly off

"It is done Captain. They're retreating" Oglivey says to Jones as the dreaded captain of the flying Dutchman looks on at the retreating forces "Do we pursue?" Oglivey asks him as Maccus and the rest of the crew make their way back on the Dutchman "Hmmm...no...let the survivors leave. I think the Great Sith Lord has understood our message very well indeed. Back to work the lot of ya" Jones says, making his way back to the hull of his ship, back to his sorrow, back to his wallowing, back to Calypso.
