I'm glad that so many people have been enjoying this small story so far! I've been wanting to make a Security Breach story for the longest time, and with the recent theories flooding around Gregory being something... Interesting, it finally got me inspired. Hopefully this story will reach more than five chapters. If it does, perhaps I'll release a little surprise, hm? Regardless, enjoy~
He was waking up.
His dreams were weird, and for some reason he could feel himself moving inside of something. Perhaps that was just a part of the dream. Perhaps he was finally going insane due to the isolation. He didn't know.
What he did know was that he was no longer inside that room. He was instead inside of something else. And indeed that thing was moving.
It was dark. And cramped. It was a tighter space than crouching in that corner, and that was already something that brought him solitude. Confusion filled his system, and said confusion withheld his abilities to see through anything. Or maybe his eyes were always insignificant like that. He didn't know that either.
The thing he was in moved wildly, thumping hard onto a tiled floor. He gasped, recognizing the sound that came from his mouth as surprise and fear. Nothing could hurt him here- he learned that quickly, but it still made him anxious.
Then he saw the screen.
[ERROR_ERROR]
An unknown virus has been detected. Would you like to soft reset the system?
He shook his head. "No thank you," he muttered into his cheek. He didn't need a reset. A reset cost him memories and all sorts of other things that were important. He needed those important things.
He looked around, seeing the shadows of study metal beams and painted plates in his peripheral vision. A clump of wires was visible too, but it was hidden behind a clear plate that he bumped with his elbow. On the plate read a simple name and another line of smaller words below it: "Glamrock Freddy Fazbear" and "Afton Robotics Inc.". He understood the first line. That was the name of one of the animatronics of the mall. The mall he was inside. The second line brought him confusion, and that was normal. He wondered what the bottom line meant.
The thing he was in jolted unexpectedly. In the corner of his vision, he could see another error sign, but he ignored it this time. Pushing around with his hands, he could feel literally nothing. So that was scratched off. He pressed his ear against the metal plate, but nothing there too. Just the faintest sound of footsteps, heavy, and music.
Familiar music. Music that brought up memories. And unlike before, he didn't keep the memories from coming up in his mind.
A party. His party. A party meant for him.
But at the same time, it wasn't his party. It was a party that was meant for someone that turned into him.
Yes, he knew he used to be someone else, but at the same time, how was that possible? Was it some sick take on reincarnation? He didn't know, and that frustrated it.
He kicked the inside of the thing that carried him.
"Who's there?" demanded a low soothing voice.
He bit his lip, sucking in his breath. "No one."
"Oh, well, I guess that banging in my chest cavity was just a part of my imagination. Surely no one would mind if I loudly sang out loud. Loudly."
And the voice sang. And loud. Thankfully it was on tune, but he didn't like it, so he smacked his foot against the slab of metal again. "Can you just shut up?"
The voice sputtered. "What?"
Slowly, the metal plates moved, lines of brightness flooding his vision. He blinked, his eyes not used to the adjustment. The real world, engulfing him in nothing but a neverending world full of color and deafening sounds. He blinked again, then crawled out of the cavity that opened before him.
"Hello?" he called out. He didn't expect any sort of response, but he got one anyway.
"What were you doing in there?" called a robotic male voice. The voice was low and gentle and soft, giving off a caring and genuinely comforting emotion in the tone it spoke in.
He looked up where the voice originated from. It was a giant bear animatronic that stood over six feet tall, bulky in the shoulders and thin around the waist. He was colored with all sorts of tints and shades, but the most notable color that surrounded his entire concept was brown, blue and yellow. He was a very nice looking bear, if his huge mouth full of teeth didn't seem apposing in any shape or form.
The boy froze. The animatronic, in response, looked surprised.
"My chest cavity is not a hiding space," the bear said, voice soft despite him scalding the boy. "It is a place to store pinatas and large birthday cakes. What were you doing in there anyways?"
"Does it matter?" he spat back. "I was hiding."
"From who?" The bear, Freddy by the looks of it depicted by the posters around this room, paused, the center of his eyes glowing white for a moment before going back to black. "That's weird. Your face isn't registered in my system. Everyone's face is in my database… What is your name?"
"It's uh…" He needed an absolutely random name. Something to quickly go by while he was here with this bear animatronic. "Gregory. My name is Gregory."
"Gregory, huh?" Freddy mustered a smile. Somehow. "Nice to meet you Gregory. My name is Freddy, but you probably knew that, didn't you?"
Gregory smiled meekly. "Yeah, I did."
"Good, well, with introductions out of the way, how did you get inside my chest cavity without my system alerting me?"
"Beats me," Gregory said. He shrugged nonchalantly. "I just woke up and there I was!"
"Hmm…" Freddy seemed to contemplate that. "Strange."
The animatronic's eyes wandered away from Gregory for a brief moment, then the bear's mechanical ears twitched. He sensed something, something that Gregory didn't get at first. Then, a line of text laid out in his vision before he could ask Freddy what was wrong.
An unknown virus has been detected.
Oh. It was that message again.
A flash of bright light made its way into the room. Gregory turned around, and before he could see its source, Freddy put a heavy hand on his shoulder.
"Quick. Inside my chest cavity," he said with a sense of urgency.
Gregory didn't hesitate. He jumped up inside the bear, cradling his knees close to his chest, allowing himself to be devoured in complete blackness.
"Freddy?" called a femine voice.
"Yes?" replied Freddy.
"I'm looking for a kid. He's about four foot five, wearing a grey striped shirt and shorts. Have you seen him around?"
"No, I have not. Sorry Vanessa."
"Hm..."
Footsteps, then she was gone.
"Why did you lie to her?" Gregory asked, moving his arm on the top of the crevice. It was cramped, and honestly staying in this same position for too long was something that would surely be uncomfortable for long periods of time. For some reason, Gregory was not uncomfortable, nor was he comfortable.
"I have a feeling," Freddy said. Gregory jumped out, and the two looked at each other. "But you need to trust me. The only way we can get you out of this mall is if we worked together. Only then can we make sure my friends won't find you."
"Your friends?"
"Listen." Freddy's eyes dilated, as if his eyes were zooming in with cameras onto Gregory's face. "Something has happened with my system. Something that I can't identify. I have an estimated guess that it has to be related to you since you suddenly just woke up inside my chest cavity. I feel… Different."
"Different how?" Gregory asked.
"I… Don't know."
"Well, whatever it is, it can't be related to me, right?"
"I don't know." Freddy looked away. "We just have to get you out of here. My friends, knowing them, will do everything in their power to find you."
