Metalsound was resting in a tree near the lake, listening to a song. It was a low yet haunting melody, it made her think of Soundwave, with an agitated growl she moved to a random song, a band that she loved. She soon found herself howling softly to the melody.
Steeljaw's voice suddenly broke through the music, "Must be a good song!"
Metalsound stopped when she heard the Wolf-Con, "You will tell no one," she growled softly in a warning.
"I might or I might not," Steeljaw says with a devious smirk.
Metalsound growls at him, "You better not."
"I will make no promises. You and I both know you can't beat me in a fight, I would easily win."
Metalsound huffs as she looks away, she knows he's telling the truth. She might be able to injure him a bit but in the end, he would win, "Anyway, what are you doing out here?"
"I wanted to say thank you for giving Strongarm my private comm number so she can contact me, we're both thankful."
"You're welcome, just be careful when you contact her. Soundwave would most likely be watching and listening," Metalsound said as she stayed perched on her branch, resting her helm on her paws.
"I will," Steeljaw says with a smile.
"You seem too happy."
"Well, I am happy I got to talk to her, and I'll be talking to her again later."
"Cool," she let out a quiet sigh, missing Thunderhoof's company, he was out on a mission by demand of Glowstrike, "How does it feel to be an alpha again?"
"What do you mean by an alpha again?"
"Well, you lead the pack before, now you're on equal footing with Saberhorn and Glowstrike."
"Oh yeah, that, feels great. And soon I'll overthrow them," he says the last part with a smirk and a little chuckle.
"Just don't let the power go to your head. Last time you ended up taking orders from a being in another dimension, and he sent you flying," she pauses as she looks at him, "You have your thinking face on. What's the plan?" She asked with her tail wagging with a little interest.
Steeljaw looks at her a bit confused, he was barely listening to what she was saying, "My plan?"
"How are you going to take over?"
"Ah yes, well they want me to crack the code to get those Decepticon Hunters out, I was planning on getting the weapons and overpowering them."
"So simple yet brilliant," she replied. Her ear twitched behind when she heard a faint sound, looking behind her she didn't see anything in the forest. Maybe she imagined it?
"Yes, well... it's all I got right now."
"Ok," Metalsound was still staring into the darkness. She couldn't explain it but it felt like she was being watched.
Steeljaw noticed and raised an optic ridge, "Is everything ok?"
"It just feels like something's watching us," she looked back to Steeljaw.
"Really? Then maybe we should stop talking."
With a sigh she leaped out of the tree, heading towards the water's edge. Laying on the grass she rested her helm on her paws again looking out at the horizon. Steeljaw was getting ready to head back to the island when he was stopped by a sudden question from Metalsound, "How will Strongarm fit into all of this?"
"I'm not sure yet."
"I know I keep saying this but please be careful. I don't want to see either of you get hurt."
"Don't worry, I will. I don't know what I'm gonna do, I can't kill her or lock her up, and if I do something to her teammates she'll hate me and I'll lose her trust," he says getting a long face all of a sudden.
"Hey, with any luck we will settle this conflict at some point. Just have a little faith."
"Yeah, I suppose. I want to be the one coming out on top and ruling this planet, but I've been having a sudden change of thought ever since I fell in love with Strongarm."
"And what is the change?"
"Don't know, just been finding myself having second thoughts on my plans."
Soundwave walked out of the shadows, Steeljaw should be working on getting the Decepticon Hunters out from the armory, he could care less about his plans and affections with the Autobot. However, he was going to have to keep an optic on them. His visor came to life as he played several clips of audio, "Steeljaw, there is work to be done."
Metalsound shivered when she heard Megatron's voice, turning around she saw Soundwave.
"I'm going," Steeljaw says as he rolls his optics and heads off back to the island.
Metalsound looked back out to the horizon, now that she was alone with Soundwave she wasn't sure what to say. They weren't exactly on good terms at the moment. Soundwave walked up to her and stood next to her. He then made some noises to get her attention. Metalsound wasn't moving until she heard the noises he was making, she looks up at him, "Is there something you need Soundwave?"
Soundwave brings some stuff up on his visor inquiring about her health, "I'm ok. How long have you been standing there?" She asked pointing her nose to the forest.
"A while," he answers with a recorded voice.
"Ok," she replied feeling awkward. It felt like her spark was about to pulse out of her chest but she couldn't say anything to him. At least anything that would make sense, "What all did you do in the Shadow Zone?"
"Watched people, tried to get out."
"I'm sorry, I feel like I should have tried to convince the others to let you out."
Soundwave just looks at her not sure how to react or what to say to that.
"When you said you were watching people, did that include the Autobots?" She asked feeling worried that he may have heard what she had said to Strongarm. He just nods. Her ears folded back with fear, "And just how much did you see and hear?" She squeaked.
"Pretty well everything, but mostly what Bumblebee was doing."
"Oh. Have you contacted Megatron yet?" She asked feeling somewhat relieved, maybe he didn't hear hers and Strongarm's conversation.
"Not yet. With their technology I'm having a bit of trouble, missing a few parts needed."
"I see, last time I saw him he was alright. After he got possessed by Unicron, he left Cybertron and I'm not sure where he's at now."
"Yeah. That too makes it hard to contact him."
"The two of you have been through a lot, haven't you?"
Soundwave just nods his helm.
"So what will you do now? Besides the usual things you do."
Soundwave just shrugs his shoulders.
"You should find yourself a hobby."
"Probably."
"How did you survive for that long in the Shadow Zone anyhow?"
"Not really sure."
"What do you think of Saberhorn and Glowstrike?"
"Glowstrike seems like a real bitch but Saberhorn seems alright. My turn. Why did you turn on us and join the Autobots?"
"It wasn't intentional, it just happened," Metalsound looked at her reflection in the water, "Starscream left me for dead and... It tore me apart when I saw Dreadwing. I went back for a while but I felt awful that I flipped sides on the Autobots. I understand if you're angry, I know I would be."
"No, I understand. Starscream was a real bastard, he shouldn't have done that but he did and it was wrong."
"Not to mention he got Skyquake killed, and forced Megatron's hand in killing Dreadwing. I don't blame Megatron, and I don't blame Dreadwing, he must have felt like a part of him had died."
"Yes."
"I'm surprised that Shockwave didn't blast him the moment he saw the scrawny mech."
"Me too. Thought for sure he would blast him away."
"He should have, but maybe it's better that he's in prison. Death would have been a mercy for him."
Soundwave just nods in agreement. Metalsound stayed quiet for a while before she found herself howling a famous song in a low tone.
"What have you been up to all this time?"
"Just wandering around mostly, keeping up to date with the world of music and human television. Did...Did you have any admirers back when you were in the gladiator ring?"
"Lots. But Megatron had more."
"I'm sure he did. Were you one of them? His admirers I mean."
"In a way."
"I see. Any female admirers?"
"Of course."
"Sorry, that should have been obvious. I mean, of course, you'd have female admirers, who wouldn't? I'll stop talking before I say something else stupid," she trailed off feeling embarrassed.
He stays silent for a moment before finally speaking up, "Don't worry about it."
"Where did Glwostrike send Thunderhoof that takes this long?"
"Out to get supplies."
"Well, either he's taking his time or he got caught up in a fight with the Autobots..." She trailed off, "Aw crap."
"You better check it out."
"Right. Will you be alright?" She asked as she stood up, stretching her wings.
Soundwave just nods as he turns and heads back to the island. Metalsound took to the sky in search of Thunderhoof, hoping that he was alright.
