Hold the Sky

The cool morning air brushed by the rooftops, the cityscape of Paris just waking up from its nightly slumber.

Jeanne sat on the alcove of the bedroom, the windows open, the curtains billowing slightly, and she looked outward. She didn't feel like sleeping anymore, and she wanted to see more, past the edge of dawn.

The Borreau heard rustling from the bed, and she didn't need to turn away from the sunrise before her. She didn't have to be on her guard this time, not with Lady Dominique.

"Mmm, are you usually up this early, Jeanne?" Dominique asked aloud, sitting up on the bed, her voice low from sleep.

Jeanne nodded her head. "Most of the time, yes, Lady Dominique," She turned herself to see Dominique sitting up in the bed, stretching her arms and legs. "A force of habit, I suppose."

Dominique nodded, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. "Habits are hard to break, you're right about that." She smiled lightly, tilting her head, her long hair cascading down her shoulders. "It's too early, you should come back to bed, mon cher."

Jeanne blinked and shook her head. "Oh I wish I could, but I'm not sure if I can go back to sleep now,"

Dominique shrugged, still smiling, and then walked out of bed, walking over to the Borreau, sitting next to her on the alcove. "Well, if you're up, that means I am as well, mon cher." She laid her head on Jeanne's shoulder, nuzzling in close, her hands twining with the Borreau's own.

Jeanne laughed aloud and looked down at Dominique, her heart brimming with affection. "It appears so, my Lady."

"No need to be so formal, Jeanne," Dominique said with a smile, and she pressed a warm kiss to Jeanne's cheek. "Call me Domi."

Jeanne felt her cheeks grow hot, but she in turn smiled at Dominique, threading her fingers with the noblewoman's. "Oh, very well then, Domi."
