Up in his bedroom, Craig was lying on his bedroom and staring up at the bottom of the upper bunk bed mattress. He moaned and placed his arm over his eyes, feeling bad for yelling at his family for pressuring him when all they were trying to do was help. Closing his eyes, Craig suddenly heard the question that Omar asked him echo in his head.

"Would you consider being my… you know, my 'more than just a friend?' friend?"

Snapping his eyes open, Craig jolted up and knocked his head onto the bars. "Ow!" he exclaimed, rubbing the top of his head and growling in frustration. "Omar! I wish I could tell you the truth, but I can't! It'll be too weird!" Craig muttered as collapsed back onto his bed when he heard a knock on the door. "Craig, can I come in?" his mom called from the other side. Hearing his mom's voice, Craig turned and buried his face into his pillow as she entered his room and sat down on his bed. "Craig, we're sorry for putting too much pressure on you, but we're worried about you. Why won't you talk to us?" she said. "You wouldn't understand. It's too weird." replied Craig, his voice muffled by the pillow his face was sinking in.

"Nothing's too weird, Craig. If there's something that's really bothering you, we can help you." Looking sideways, Craig asks "Do you really wanna know Mom?" Nicole nodded encouragingly. "Of course. And I promise, I'll understand." As Craig lifted his head from his pillow and cleared his throat. "Well, it's one of my friends, Omar, you know the kid who used to wear the green poncho and has the cool bow and arrow that he uses when he was standing at the Overpass as the guardian to keep kids from the Other Side of the Creek, like the king, Xavier, from crossing into our side." he explained. "Oh. Omar? That's why you're so quiet all of a sudden? Because of your friend?" Nicole asked, raising an eyebrow. "Yeah." muttered Craig, blushing. "But hey, don't get me wrong. Omar's a good kid, and a pretty cool one too. It's just that… a couple of days ago, we were hanging out at the Creek together. Everything was fine, but then Omar said that he liked me. Like, liked me. And then he asked me to be his uh, 'more than just a friend' friend." he added, blushing more deeply as he said it.

Nicole chuckled lightly. "I think what the word Omar meant to say was 'boyfriend,' Craig." she said as Craig's cheeks went completely red until they were like ripe tomatoes. "Boyfriend?" he echoed in alarm. Nicole gave her son a teasing grin before it shrank back to it's usual motherly smile. "Yup, and it's okay if he like likes you Craig if he thinks you're so interesting because of the things you do or have done for the Creek in the past summers. In fact, it's normal for people who are the same gender to like each other, whether they're friends or even well, in love."

Craig smiled with appreciation, then frowned as another thought came to him. "Yeah, but that's actually the problem Mom." he replied slowly.

"Huh? What's the problem?" Nicole asked with confusion. "You see, I want to tell Omar that I do like, like him back, because well… I'm really into him. But I'm worried about what people will think of us. Will they think that we're weird? Will Kelsey and JP think that we're weird too? What should I do?" asked Craig, wrapping his legs together and burying his face between his knees as Nicole was unsure of what to really do. She had helped Craig many times when he was dealing with problems from the Creek, but never had he had a problem about love. "I'm sorry Craig. I wish I knew, but I don't think I can answer those questions," she admitted solemnly, but later had an idea. "But maybe your cousin Jasmine can."

Craig lifted his head up to look at his mom with his eyes looking moist. "Jasmine?" he whispered in puzzlement. "Yeah. She has a girlfriend, remember? How about tomorrow before you go back to the Creek to see your friend Omar again, she can give you some advice. Then you'll figure out if you can like Omar as a friend or more than a friend."

After glancing down at the floor in thought, Craig decided that would be a good idea. He could use some help from one of his relatives like he always did. "Yeah, okay." he replied, a small smile forming on his lips. Nicole sent a smile back. "Good. I'll call her right now and arrange a meeting for you two. Now get some rest, because I think your friend will be expecting you soon." Nodding, Craig tucked himself in bed as his mom switched the lights off and left the room.

Happy to have finally told someone, Craig was soon fast asleep and suddenly starting to have dreams about him and Omar– being together. For the first time, Craig felt happy about these dreams. However, Craig woke up from his dream as he looked over that his alarm clock. 10pm! "Wow! Did I sleep that long?" he wondered, just as Craig thought about Omar and began to wonder if he was okay. So reaching for his phone, Craig scrolled down the list of phone numbers and tapped on Omar's number. Then with his fingers tapping on his knees, Craig waiting patiently for Omar to call him.
