Early 36th Millennium, dawn of the Plague of Unbelief
High orbit over Mosyfed
Landing bay of The Resolute

The heavy lander cast an enormous shadow within the bay and Fynn stood in that shadow behind the open disembarking ramp at the craft's rear. He was not in the robe or lab coat that he had worn so many times over the previous years but was instead dressed in his full regalia. His power armour was solid white, but his left shoulder pauldron was painted silver with black trim and bore the chapter symbol of the Void Spectres, a silver skull and tabard over a black field, while his right shoulder pauldron bore the Prime Helix in red with black wings, a version of the Caduceus which more closely resembled the DNA helix than twin serpents. On one hip was a bolt pistol while attached to his back was his narthecium, a tool which appeared to be a small chainsword and drill combined into a medical instrument. And rising from his back was a great black banner bearing the silver skull and tabard of the Void Spectres. Immediately beside Fynn was an enormous Bier draped in white. A bier sized for a space marine. Beyond Fynn were ten pair of drop walkers. The enormous machines of war faced each other in pairs with their legs bent and leaned forward until their cabs nearly touched, forming an open archway. Beyond the walkers stretched Inquisitorial Stormtroopers standing at attention in full battle armour, three deep on each side, continuing the path started by the walkers, through the bay to an exit.

A single figure strode out the opening at the top of the disembarking ramp, Basil. He stepped solemnly, one foot after the other down the ramp, and was flanked on one side by the floating stasis box and on the other by the blue power armour that contained the Librarian, Brother Boyana, floating as if on a bier.

As Basil, reached the bottom of the ramp, Fynn stepped forward. He and Basil each reached forward with their right hands, with Fynn's massive gauntlet engulfing that of Basil. "Thank you, my friend," Fynn said, his vox amplified voice crackling with pain and sorrow. "Thank you for returning my Brother to me. Returning him to the Brotherhood of our chapter so that we may say our farewells." He glanced at the floating stasis box beside Basil. "And this," he said, voice still crackling. "This is a great treasure. The greatest I could have asked for. You kept your promise, young Basil. The Void Spectres owe you a debt of Honour. You can ask anything of us."

"Thank you," Basil answered back. "It is an honour to serve. I do have something to ask of you, your counsel."

"You may have that anytime," answered Fynn. "Now, I must go to the Medicae deck to examine the geneseed."

"I must first see the Navigators and convey to them our next destination," Basil answered. "Then, I will meet you in your lab."

Basil stood without moving as Fynn walked the bier under the archway created by the walkers, and remained motionless until the marine had accompanied his Brother's remains past all the Troopers and out of the landing bay.
