Chapter Six
Hour later…
Coffee Shop…
Amita came into the shop to see that Robin already had gotten a table for them and headed over there to see what her sister-in-law wanted to talk about.
"Hey, Robin." Amita greeted, "Did you order already?"
"Yes, and I got you the usual tea, that's all right?" Robin asked
"Yes, that's fine." Amita said, glad she didn't have to do the order is about
As if on cue, the waiter came in with their drinks and asked if they wanted anything else, to which both declined and Amita decided to ask the obvious question.
"What did you want to talk to me about, Robin?"
Robin gave a deep sigh before giving an answer, "I was asked to run for judgeship."
Amita was amazed as it could be a great career move, though she wondered why Robin might want to talk to her first. It made her wonder if there was a problem location wise.
"Do you have to move if you accept that?" Amita asked
"No, thankfully the judgeship is here in Los Angeles but the problem is I'm still dealing with several high profile cases that I had already put on hold due to what happened with Don and I also don't feel like I'm ready to make that move yet."
Amita immediately understood what Robin was talking about, as Robin had only returned to her regular job four months ago, as the tragedy was very hard on her, as it was with everyone, and while being a judge was a dream of hers, the offer wasn't coming at the best time.
"When do they want an answer?" Amita asked, as she started thinking about helping Robin with this dilemma.
"They said I could think about it until the end of the week, then they want to know where I stand."
"Why don't you come to the Craftsman tonight, and we can talk about it with the rest of the family and see where you go from there?" Amita offered
This made Robin give a small smile, something Amita rarely saw in her for the past year, making her hope that she was getting better.
"Thanks, Amita." She said before continuing.
"Think we have time for the library? Because I think I found a couple good ones while I was waiting for you." Robin said
"Sure, I have been wanting to look through some books anyway." Amita agreed, "And Besides, I don't have a class for an hour and a half."
Meanwhile…
FBI building…
Colby was helping Charlie put together the notes from the case as they were getting ready for the meeting when his phone went off.
Sighing, as he hoped it wasn't another call from the director, as he had nothing new to report to her but he knew she wanted results and they needed to find them quick.
"Granger" He answered, not knowing what to expect
"Agent Granger, are you the agent in charge of John Larkin's tax evasion case?" A scared voice asked
"Yes, I am, who is this?" Colby asked in frustration which was quickly diminished when he heard who it was.
"This Allison Sykes, I need to talk to you about what I know about what my grandfather has been up to doing with his company."
