Chapter Thirteen

Two hours later..

Larkin's business

After finally getting the necessary warrant, Colby wasted no time getting a team together in order to serve the warrant to Larkin, which made the agent happy, since the guy was just a nasty person who needs to be brought down and have justice made for all the people that he victimized.

"All right, everybody, let's get going!" he shouted to his fellow agents

Charlie watched as the team left and he felt a satisfaction of helping with the case so far, something he hadn't felt for a long time.

That made him realize that while Don may not be around anymore, he could still help people through the FBI and he could still do good.

Larkin's office…

"What is this?" The clearly angry and annoyed Larkin asked when Colby showed him the warrant.

"It's a warrant, sir." Colby said as patiently as he could to the irate CEO

"You are aware that I have been cooperative during the entirety of the investigation." The man said, almost shouting at the annoyed agent

"Yes, I am," Colby said simply, not in the mood to tell the man that he had impeded the investigation in every way he could and made things difficult for everyone, including the man himself.

"Then you should also talk to my lawyer when this is over, who you will be hearing from later." Larkin said

"I'm sure I will." Colby said, as he had to force himself from rolling his eyes, as he didn't want to get into some kind of shouting match with the man.

The man then turned to shout at one of his assistants, who was directing an agent to some files, as Larkin is angry enough as it is, but this was starting to take him over the edge.

"Sir, they have a warrant, what choice do I have?" The assistant nervously asked, as it was clear that he was afraid of what Larkin would do to him.

"You don't need to cooperate with them!" Larkin shouted, which prompted Colby to intervene before something happened

"Look, Mr. Larkin, he is just trying to keep himself out of trouble, something you should do as well, as just calm down." Colby said, as he was growing more disgusted with the man than he had since the investigation had begun.

"Fine, I will be in the breakroom if you need me." Larkin said before another agent came into the room.

"Sir, before you do that, I need to talk to you about some things we found since it wasn't included in the warrant, just need an explanation for it." The younger agent said

"Fine, but this better not take too long." Larkin answered as the agent led him to where she needed to talk to him about.

Colby looked at the assistant, who looked grateful for the interruption.

"Thanks, sir." The younger man said

"Don't mention it, just know that you might not want to be around here too long today." Colby said carefully, as he didn't know what exactly he should say to the man.

"No worries, sir, as I was already looking for another job a little bit ago so I hope I will be able to take care of that soon." The man said

That made Colby smile, as he was hoping there was someone with common sense around this place and wanted to know another thing.

"May I ask what your name is?" Colby asked

"Oh, my name is Donald Jackson, sir." The young man said, which took Colby a back for a sec but recovered quickly

"But you can call me Don." The younger man continued, not noticing the agent flinch when he first mentioned his name

"Sure Don, call me Colby." Granger said to the man, not sure why hearing the name made feel that way and it had made him realize how much he missed his old boss.

'Oh, Don, if you could see us all now.' Colby thought to himself before turning his attention back to another agent.

"Get more statements and make sure we don't leave anything out, so that his lawyer doesn't try to use that against us, and keep up the good work." Colby said, also dreading what the lawyer might try to do but he then realized that with the evidence, there wasn't much the lawyer could do.

He then gave the assistant a nod and then took out his phone to give Merrick and then Charlie an update on their progress and hope things go smoothly from there.

'I'm just glad Charlie was able to help out.' He gratefully thought
