I haven't watched this show in years, and this is my first attempt at writing a fic for it. I'm not really sure where this story came from, and I know they are all out of character a little - but I don't own the show or the scripts, so how am I to know how to write them properly.
I've got a couple of chapters written, but I don't know if it's worth continuing unless other people really want to come along for the ride.
Thanks for reading! Enjoy, comment, or don't and move along.
Chapter 1.
Everyone had spent a large portion of the summer hanging out with each other, working, and getting ready for what comes after graduation- applying for colleges, deciding on career paths, and saving up so they could have fun without mom and dad watching their every move.
There were obviously a few bumps in the road that they had had to work around.
At one point, Cat had to escort her brother across the country for some weird regulation meeting since he had been banned from flying.
The second week of their break Andre and his grandma got sick after he had accidentally cooked dinner wrong and gave them both salmonella, so he was MIA for a while.
Tori got a job at a coffee shop on the far side of town, so she seemed to always be late or leaving early during their meetups.
But weirdest of all was that Jade and Beck broke up, and it wasn't a total shit show. Neither of them would talk about it (no matter how hard any of the others tried to pry), but they were on good terms. They almost seemed to have a happier relationship, always still around one another and acting like nothing was different, but Jade wasn't scaring girls away from him, and he wasn't her peacekeeper. Together, just not together.
The weekend before school was supposed to start back, Tori invited everyone to her house for a sleepover. They hadn't gotten together in a while, and everyone could tell they all just needed a little downtime, before the reality of adulting set in. The boys always threw a tent up on the back patito, and the girls would all crash on Tori's king bed (the one her Nana bought her as a birthday present). Beck offered to grill for dinner, Andre brought the movies, Cat the candy, Robbie the drinks, and Jade just said she'd be there and her presence should be enough.
The doorbell rang Friday night at 5:32, and Tori ran to open the door. Beck was there, arms full of food to be cooked. He grinned at her , "Hey Tor, you mind going and getting the marshmallows? They fell out of the bag on the drive over. Imma go get started on food," he said as he hobbled through the door.
"Yeah, sure! Marshmallows are the jam, you really went all in." she said back at him as she walked out to his open car door, grabbing the two bags that had slid under the seats.
She closed his door, looking up right as Robbie and Andre pulled into the driveway.
"Hey, Chicka! The party has officially arrived!" Andre yelled out the window towards her before rolling it up.
"Yay!" she grinned as they got out, "Robbie you better have brought a case of Mr. Fizz, or I'll send you right back to the store." She said it sternly and with a pointed finger, but the grin gave away her empty threat.
"What else would I have brought, Lemon Squeeze? I'm not trying to get hate crimed tonight." He hoisted out the couple of cases, while Andre unloaded a bag with a few liters of assorted drinks.
They all walked in, murmuring with excitement about what the night would hold.
Beck nodded to the boys in greeting from the kitchen, "Sup guys, Andre you wanna help me get the fire going outside? Robbie the tent is in the trunk of my car if you wanna go take it outside. We always forget it's easier to set up in the daylight, maybe we can do it this time.'' They both agreed and went about their assigned tasks.
Tori walked into the kitchen to help with the preparation, "You heard from the girls yet?" she asked as she grabbed the cutting board and started to slice the veggies for the kabobs.
Beck was humming a song and dancing slightly as he sprinkled the seasoning on the impossible meat patties. "I talked to Jade at like, 5 maybe? Said she was gonna grab Cat on her way, but she never specified. You know her, punctual as can be, just only on her time." He said the last bit with a smirk.
Tori quirked a brow looking over to him, "You suuuuure you don't want to tell me what happened last month? I would love to be in the loop, and I can keep my mouth shut." She used her most persuasive voice she could muster.
He used his hand and made a 'my lips are sealed' gesture without looking up at her.
Robbie squawked from the doorway, dragging the tent on the ground, "There is NO way you don't struggle to move this thing. It weighs a TON!" His scrawny arms flailing with immense effort.
Andre opened the back patio door, "Fire is lit." He said walking in and seeing Robbie struggle. "Rob, you gotta hit the gym man, I can't keep defending you on this stuff." He walked over and lifted the tent, Robbie watching in disbelief as he just started walking back outside with it.
"I atleast know how to put it together, and maybe I just wasn't meant to be beefy like-" The door shut, cutting off the weak man-child. Tori and Beck watched them go, both shaking their heads.
Halfway through shoving all of the veggies on the kabob spears, the front door opened.
"-never even finished the ice cream before the officer reminded him about the bobcat- oh, HI GUYS!" Cats voice rang out.
The glaring wide-eyed expression Jade had on her face as she held the door open made it evident that Cat was about 4 words away from being slapped.
"Cat!" Tori said loudly, reading Jades expression and thus attempting to distract the redhead, "Do you want to go get the movie blankets from the closet next to my room?"
"Kay-Kay, I'm on it." She said as she handed the bag in her hand off to Jade.
Jade looked at her hand, obviously not happy as to why she was now involved in the labor pool for this get-together. She shook her head slightly, making her way to the kitchen to set the bag of sweets down.
She sighed loudly, "I swear she ate half the bag on the way here, and I would have stopped her but it was the only thing that would keep her mouth busy enough to shut-up. I must be getting soft because nothing I threatened her with worked." She held her hands in the air in a confused 'what the hell' kind of way.
Tor pursed her lips to keep from smiling at her not-friend's misfortune, "Would stabbing kabobs be and relief? Edible destruction at its fiiineeessst…" She said the last word in a sing-song manner.
The scary girl frowned, "I don't like helping."
"Not helping, just stabbing. Some nice violation of vegetables will have you feeling better in no time." Tori held out the dull end of one of the kabob sticks, waving it around slightly in an enticing manner.
Jade rolled her eyes, contemplating what had been said briefly before reaching for the stick with an "ugh".
Once done, Beck piled all of the food to be grilled onto the tray, and headed out to the back where Andre and Robbie were putting the finishing touches on the tent.
Cat had taken it upon herself to drape all of the blankets around on the couch to "make nests" for everyone while they watched movies.
Tori had gotten the movie stack from Andre, and she and Jade had been arguing over the choices and the order to watch them in.
"What do you mean 'Pierce the Shadow' shouldn't make the cut, it's the best horror fic of the decade," Jade argued.
"Because it's a HORROR fic! Do you want me to whazz myself? I'm doing good to turn off my night light when y'all sleep over, I can't stand the idea of having to deal with no sleep for days because of a movie."
Cat had sat down in the middle of the couch and begun watching the two like a tennis match.
"Vega, are you implying that you're afraid of the dark, too? I assure you, I have plenty to use against you already, there's no need to give me anything more." Jade was smirking
"I'm not afraid of the dark, just what's in the dark. And creepy movies are already creepy, but especially when it's dark outside." Tori had her arms crossed over her chest at this point, in full defensive mode. " Plus, I'd have to watch at least one Disney movie afterwards to even have a chance at sleeping."
Jade narrowed her eyes, "Deal."
