Hello everyone! Welcome to a new story. If you're here from one of my other projects, you may be thinking "how is this guy who doesn't finish anything starting something else?" Not to worry! I've written this story to it's completion in the last year. Every chapter is already done, they just need to be posted!

I hope you enjoy!

"Dr. Izayoi! Dr. Izayoi! You need to come quickly!"

Aki turned as someone called her name, seeing one of the hospitals nurses running up to her.

"What is it?" Aki asked, walking quickly behind the nurse.

"Two patients coming in," the nurse replied as she led Aki down the halls. "They were hiking and fell down a cliff, but thankfully one of them could call for help."

"Type of wounds?" Aki asked as they rounded a corner.

"Both have a lot of broken bones. One's leg has broken and is infected. The other has a bad concussion and an arm. Both have broken ribs that might have punctured his lungs."

"Got it," she replied. The two fell silent as they entered the room of the men, the one who'd broken his leg closest to her. Aki quickly put gloves on as she assessed the situation. The mans bone was sticking out of his leg, which was how he'd gotten infected in the first place. Placing a hand on his leg, she induced her psychic power and let it reach out to him, assessing the damage. The infection hadn't spread far, which was good. He wouldn't need an amputation. The bones were broken in many places, indicating how bad the fall must have been. Letting her power spread further, she saw he had multiple rib fractures that were poking his organs. which was bad. Other than that, he was also covered in bruises, some of which were incredibly large.

Most I should do with my power is put things in order a bit.

Aki had learned a long time ago her power could heal, but she hadn't yet mastered precision with it. Blanket healing like that she'd given to Crow and Sherry on the Arc Cradle was easy. Precision that was required with broken bones or damaged organs wasn't as easy. Not that she couldn't do it, though. Taking a deep breath, Aki let her power flow into the man and into his body, slowly pushing the ribs away from his organs and back into position against one another. She used more power to mend the break and fix his ribs, which required intense concentration on her end. Thankfully, all her nurses stayed quiet while she worked. After the ribs she moved onto his leg, gently nudging the bone back into place inside his leg. After this, she made sure to remember how far the infection had spread.

"He's got osteomyelitis," she said, "localised in his leg for now. Get him on a drip and monitor him, he should be fine."

"Yes Doctor," Chorused the nurses nearby as Aki moved to the next man. As the nurse before had said, his arm was twisted in the wrong direction and shared rib fractures with his friend. His head was also hurt, evidenced by the concussion Aki's power sensed in him. Having the nurses help her, Aki used her power to twist the mans right arm back into place, the nurses guiding it. Once that was done, she moved onto his ribs and preformed a similar solution as the man before. Finally came his head. Placing both her hands on his temples, she assessed the damage more closely. The concussion was mild at best it seemed, but that alone was bad. She had never used her power on brain injuries, and she planned to avoid it as long as possible.

"He should be okay," she reported as she backed up. "His concussion shouldn't be fatal, so monitor him and get him a cast to help quicken the healing. Same with his friend. As for the concussion, keep his head from moving to erratically and monitor him. Administer painkillers at your discretion, Elsita."

"Yes Doctor," The blonde nurse near to her replied. Aki then turned to the nurses tending to the other man.

"Sofia, report back to me if anything goes wrong." She said, the brunette nodding.

"I will. Thank you for your help, Doctor Izayoi."

Aki sighed as she sat down in the hospital's cafeteria, glad to be off of her feet for a moment. She'd been working since six in the morning, and constant use of her power really drained her. Even still, she was glad to be so helpful.

Aki's psychic power has never been a secret, seeing as she had a well-documented list of public appearances from Neo Domino City. Anyone who watched the Eastern Duel scene knew her name from back in the day. Those days were far behind her, though. Duelling wasn't something she focused on much now.

Well, I always keep you close to me.

Aki's hand nudged her chest pocket for a moment, feeling the Duel Monsters card present there. It had been ten years since Aki had been in a serious duel, but Black Rose Dragon was never off her person. Keeping in close made her feel closer to the other former Signers, no matter how dumb that might have been. She wondered how the others were doing?

As if on cue to answer her wish, Aki felt her phone vibrate in her picket. Taking out the device, she saw that the notification was from the group chat Leo had put them all in.

Speaking of that, Aki still got a good laugh out of the origin of the group chat. Leo said that it would be perfect for them all to communicate whenever they wanted, even if it was short bursts. What was funny was how Jack reamed the teenager (at the time) for being mushy and too sentimental to be a good Pro Duelist. Ironically, Jack was pretty active in said group chat. Even if it was mostly him sending them another screenshot of a championship belt or cup he'd won to taunt Crow.

Opening the message, Aki saw it was Leo who had sent the message, which was a picture of him holding up a championship cup in his hands. It was quickly followed up by the message: "Guess who just won the British Duelling Championship?! That's another amateur duelling event I won!"

Aki smiled at this. Seeing Leo's wide child-like smile always gave her such a warm feeling inside. Seeing she was the first to see it, she quickly fired off a response.

Aki: That's amazing Leo! I'm so proud of you!

Leo: Haha, thanks Aki! Better watch out, I might come for German titles next!

Aki: Well then I'll have to stomp you for coming into my territory

Leo: As if you've duelled recently! You're busy!

Aki: I can make time to kick your ass.

Luna: Aki's still leagues better than you, Leo.

Leo: Huh?!

Aki laughed out loud as Leo's twin sister sided with her. Although she talked big, she honestly had no idea if she could beat Leo anymore. He'd been duelling for years straight now, while she focused on being a Doctor. He could probably destroy her. The phone went off again.

Crow: Atta be, kid! I can practically guarantee that some big time scouters were at that event!

Leo: You think?!

Crow: Definitely. Western Duel Scene has been getting huge recently.

Aki: And yet the winner of so many is a Japanese kid.

Crow: We invented the game, we're allowed to be better at it.

It was then Jack jumped in.

Jack: Of course Leo won! The Western scene is a joke! I stomp all my opponents out here!

Crow: Like that guy last week who stopped you from a title shot?

Jack: I wasn't that interested in a shot anyway!

Crow: Uh huh.

Aki: Jack not interested in a title shot? Who are you and what did you do to Jack Atlas?!

Jack: I could still beat all of you in a duel.

Crow: Says the guy who loses to Yusei every time they meet up.

Leo: Ooooh damn!

"Good afternoon, Doctor Izayoi." Aki looked up as someone spoke to her in German, her mind quickly switching from her native Japanese to the local language to hear what they said. As she looked up, she noted it was Elsita and Sofia, the nurses from before.

"Hey you two," she said as the nurses sat down opposite her. "How're our hikers?"

"Stabilised," Sofia answered, twirling her curly brown hair around her finger. "No thanks to you, Doctor." Aki just shrugged their praise off.

"I'd be nothing without my great supporting staff," she said with a smile. Elsita laughed.

"Do you ever take credit for your great work?" She asked as she leaned on the table. "Your powers make it so easy to help people."

"Which is why that credit should be saved for people who can work without psychic powers," Aki replied. "I don't work nearly as hard as surgeons. It's not fair I get so much credit."

"But your powers are so helpful!" Sofia said. "You can mend broken bones, seal lacerations, I bet you could even heal brain damage if you tried it."

"Well I won't ever do that," Aki replied, "but I know what you mean." Sofia frowned at this.

"Now that I think of it," she said, "Is there a reason you won't use your powers to heal brain injuries? I don't remember if you said." Aki nodded at this.

"There is," she said. "I wrote about it in my dissertation. I have my theories, but in essence I worry it would damage the patient."

"In what way?" Elsita asked curiously. Aki made a face.

"My theory involves what I called a Neuronic Impression," she said. "My powers, boiled down, is me imposing my will on someone or something. So it's orders from my brain altering reality, if you will. If I did that to someone's brain, I worry it might permanently alter their brain function. My thoughts, my powers, or even a part of myself entirely might by ingrained in them. It's pseudo-science, but the worries I have remain."

"You're so smart it's insane," Sofia said, making Aki chuckle. "I never would have thought of that."

"It comes with the territory of having these powers," Aki said. "Don't sweat it."

"What would we do without you?" Elsita asked with a smile. Aki shrugged.

"You may find out soon," she said cryptically. Both nurses frowned at her.

"You're really going to go through with it?" Sofia asked curiously. "You're going to transfer back to Japan?"

"If the hospital approves my transfer," Aki said.

"And they have a reason not too?" Elsita asked. Aki shrugged.

"Maybe the idea of having the Black Rose Witch on their medical staff makes them feel antsy." She replied, half-joking. Sofia rolled her eyes.

"Oh please," she said, "you've more than made up for what you did as a kid. Neo Domino City Hospital would be brain dead to refuse your transfer application." Aki hoped that was true. She had put the application in a few weeks ago, and had yet to receive an email back.

After having finished medical school three or so years ago, Aki quickly got into the field and became a Doctor. Her powers and their affinity for healing made her very popular, and an even better Doctor. A lot of people were even surprised she went through med school, but as she herself put it, without putting in the work she'd just be some kid with special powers. She didn't want that. She had never wanted to be defined by her powers. Not before she was a Signer, not when she was one, and not now. And so she worked. For a long time she worked without too much help from her powers. However, as she got assigned to patients with more critical injuries, she let it be known what she could do. And ever since, the last two years in fact, she had been this hospitals best Doctor.

But for the last year or so, a nagging feeling had been in the back of Aki's mind that she could not place. At first, she chalked it up to her work hours being too intense on her, but it persisted. And after a while, it finally dawned on her.

She had achieved her goal.

Her goal when she had left Neo Domino City nearly nine years ago was to become a Doctor. She'd done that, and had been working in Berlin since. But, after some thinking, she came to the realisation that she had achieved all their was to achieve here. Germany had given her all it had to offer, and now she was gliding along with no goal other than work. So what reason did she have to stay?

And so, with this in mind, Aki made up her mind and sent in an application for transfer to Neo Domino City's Hospital. At first she wondered if she would want to go to other countries and help those there, but this didn't appeal to her. She was almost thirty, after all. There was still one thing she hadn't done. If she waited too long at this stage in her life, she may as well never do it at all.

"You seem so untroubled about leaving us, Doctor Izayoi." Sofia said with a teasing smirk as she leaned on the table. "Are we that bad?" Aki giggled and waved her off.

"No, no," she replied. "Neo Domino is my home. I have my reservations, obviously."

"Like what?" Elsita asked curiously. Aki made a face, her past coming to the surface. A certain face she tried to forget but never could.

"Things change," she said, forcing those thoughts away. She'd never see him again, and that was the way she wanted it. "People change. Maybe things are different and I don't know it yet."

"Hm," Sofia said, "who do you mean?"

"I bet she has someone waiting for her back home," Elsita said, pretending to whisper in Sofia's ear. Aki blushed as Sofia fake gasped. "I bet she's worried they're not the same!"

"That's true!" Sofia said, "I've never seen Doctor Izayoi with a man or woman! I know Doctor Meyer has been trying to get her to go out with him for years but hasn't had success. Maybe it's because she's saving herself for her love!"

"G-Guys-" Aki tried weakly.

"That is so romantic!" Elsita said with an over-dramatic swoon. "To save yourself for the love of your life back home, even though you've been away for a decade. Ah, to have what you and this person have, Doctor Izayoi!"

"Me and this hypothetical person have nothing," Aki said weakly, trying to ignore the face flashing in her eyes. "I'm just transferring back home. Besides, I bet he-"

Aki had spoke to much. Sofia and Elsita latched onto this like animals.

"So there is a man!" Sofia said excitedly. "What's his name?! What's he like?! Does he love you too?!"

"I-I-"

"Oh my God this is so romantic!" Elsita said, "I'm so excited for you! It's like a movie!"

"Pretty bad movie," Aki said as she tried to regain her composure. "As I was going to say, there is nothing between me and him. I was just saying he's probably found another woman by now."

"And abandon you, Doctor?" Elsita demanded. "Not a chance! He loves you too doesn't he?" Aki made a face at this.

"...I don't know," she said. "I've never told him I loved him. I didn't want to right before I left for med school." Sofia nodded sagely at this.

"A good idea," she said. "You didn't want to put yourself or him under any obligation to the other while you were away. You didn't want to tether him to you as you moved several thousand kilometres away."

"Something like that," Aki replied as she recalled her inability to confess to Yusei all those years ago in the garage. "Didn't seem appropriate."

"Well, do you still love him?" Sofia asked. Aki made a face as she considered this. It took all of a few seconds for thoughts of Yusei to fill her head, making her blush and her heart skip a beat.

"Yes," she replied. "I do still love him." Sofia smiled at this.

"Then I think you should tell him!" She said excitedly. "Even if there's nothing between you, or even if he has another woman, I would do it. You've kept these feelings to yourself for how long? Eight years?"

"Longer," Aki said weakly, making Elsita gape at her.

"I would tell him," Sofia repeated. "If for no other reason than to clear your mind. It'll be good to get those feelings out in the open." Aki twirled a strand of her hair around her finger at this, thinking quietly.

"We'll see what happens," she said, finally noticing her phone go off again. Looking down, she saw she missed a whole argument between Jack and Crow (big surprise). However, the most recent message wasn't related to that at all.

Yusei: I'm late to the celebration it seems, but I'm so proud of you Leo. Isn't it time you get in the pro leagues and stop bullying amateur tournaments?

"...We'll see," she repeated to herself.

Aki sighed as she turned on the lights in her apartment, hanging her coat up as she went. God, she was exhausted. How did she get through med school back in the day? She got home these days and wanted to collapse.

Walking deeper inside, she walked into her bedroom an towards her desk. Even now, she still had work to do. Sitting down, she turned on her laptop and waited for it to boot up. She stared out the window without a care, watching cars and people below her travel to wherever their lives took them. Aki saw a couple down on the sidewalk. Where were they headed, she wondered? Had they met at a bar? Where they friends, or already together? Sometimes she got lost wondering what others lives were like.

Eventually, her eyes wandered over to her desk, where her eyes landed on a single framed picture. It was one from a decade ago now, from the end of the W.R.G.P. She smiled at the photo, looking at her younger self shaking a bottle of champagne. She remembered spraying it at Leo after it got going. Those were the days. She missed those days.

Now she wondered how the other members of the team were doing. Sure, the group chat offered little snippets of conversation, but it wasn't the same as back then. It wasn't the same as going to the same school grounds as the twins, spending time with them throughout the day before they rushed to the garage after school to see what Yusei, Jack and Crow were up too. And after a while, Bruno was there too. A happy little family, revelling in each other's company. But that was a long time ago now. She was in Berlin. The twins were in London, and Jack and Crow were all over the place. Yusei was the only one in the city still. She missed those days so much.

Her attention was taken from the photo as her laptop fully booted up, showing her login screen. She absentmindedly entered her password, the computer opening.

You've got mail!

Aki jumped a bit, looking back at the screen. She did indeed have mail. The little envelope icon had a red '1' attached to it. Immediately, Aki felt nervous. She had a sinking feeling as to what it was, but somewhat afraid to look at it. After all, what if it wasn't what she was looking for? What is it was a rejection?

No, she was a grown woman now. She wasn't afraid of a notification. Clicking on the envelope, Aki watched as her email sprung up, showing her what her new email was.

Administrator Reiki: Your Transfer To Neo Domino Hospital

Oh God, it was what she was looking for. Now Aki's head filled with completely unrealistic responses. Some were more believable than others, but most just didn't make sense. Setting aside her anxiety, Aki opened the email.

Dr. Izayoi Aki,

My, it has been some time since your name was heard around these parts. I still remember when your friend Yusei Fudo saved us all from the Arc Cradle. How many years has it been since then? Ten? My, the time flies doesn't it? But let's stop reminiscing for a moment.

I must admit, when I first saw you had sent in an application to transfer to our Hospital, I was surprised. I did not know you went to study medicine! I would have assumed you were a professional Duelist. That being said, after looking over the credentials and accomplishments you sent along with your request, I somehow feel as though I would be indirectly ending lives if I turned you away. By all accounts, you seem to be a miracle worker. And if there's one thing every hospital should have, it's a miracle worker.

If I've got you holding your breath, I apologise. Allow me to speed this up by simply asking you a question, Doctor; when is the nearest time you can come in to meet me before you start work?

Sincerely,

Neo Domino Hospital Administrator Reiki

Aki stared at the email for a few seconds, not saying anything. Finally, the anxiety and fear in her chest blossomed into a joy and happiness she had not felt in a while. She was in. She'd been accepted!

Shaking but able to use the keys, Aki made a response that read:

Administrator Reiki,

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I'm overjoyed that you've decided to accept my transfer. As for when I can get to meet you, it may take me a few weeks. I have a few things I need to prepare my move, as well as settle my business here. But, once I am ready, I will head to Neo Domino City. I will let you know when I plan to be in the city and we can make a date to be meet by then. Sound good?

Thanks again,

Doctor Izayoi Aki.

After typing and sending this response out, Aki leaned back in her chair. It was finally real. After spending nearly a decade in Europe, Aki would be heading home permanently. Perhaps it was a bit cruel to say she'd never truly considered Germany her home, but it was true. Her heart and mind always treated Neo Domino as such.

Aki quickly did the mental math in her head to figure out the timezone difference between Neo Domino and Berlin, figuring out that if it was midnight now than it the city it would be around seven in the morning there. Deciding she couldn't hold in her excitement, she pulled her phone out and dialled her mother's number. It only rang twice before she answered.

"Isn't a bit late over there, my little rose?" She asked sweetly, making Aki laugh.

"I apologise for wanting to share news with you, Mom," Aki replied. "Shall I call back after I go to sleep?"

"Well you've already got me on the phone, so what did you want to tell me?" Aki smiled at this.

"Is Dad at work?" She asked.

"He's about to leave, yes," she said. "Why?"

"Catch him and tell him my transfer to Neo Domino City went through. I'm moving home."

Yusei knew he needed to get up and go to work, but today he felt extra lazy. Looking towards his bedside table, he saw his clock telling him it was nearly twenty after seven. If he had any luck, it'd be another forty minutes before one of his lab assistants called looking for him. Rolling over, Yusei closed his eyes and tried to get some sleep.

His phone denied him.

Growling at his assistants determination to get him out of bed, he rolled over and grabbed the small device angrily. When he picked it up, though, he noticed this was not his assistant.

Calling: Izayoi Aki

Yusei frowned at the picture of Aki that accompanied her contact information. Why was Aki calling him right now? If he remembered right, it was around midnight in Berlin right now. His mind quickly ran through the scenarios in which she was calling. Was something wrong? Was she hurt? Had something gone wrong? Or maybe she wanted to talk?

Either way, Yusei answered the phone quickly.

"Aki?" He asked curiously, "what's up?" Aki's melodious giggle came from the other line.

"Sleepy?" She asked, "I can hear it in your voice, Yusei."

"You should be the sleepy one, Doctor," he said. "It's nearly one there, isn't it?"

"And you should be getting to work, Doctor," she retorted. Yusei laughed. She was right, after all.

"What's up?" He asked her. "It's unlike you to call at such an inconvenient time for us both."

"Sorry, I had news I wanted to share."

"Couldn't put it in the group chat?"

"No one but you can take advantage of this news." This caught his attention. What was Aki trying to tell him? Something that the other members of the team couldn't do much with?"

"What is it?" He asked, not able to hide the worried tone he had. Aki's beautiful giggle came to him again.

"I'm transferring to Neo Domino Hospital. I'll be moving home in a month. Permanently."
