Gustav chuckled nervously, "Well, he seems to have forgotten . . . pretty much everything." The woman slowly got up from Hiccup's bed.

"What do you mean by everything?" She glared at Gustav making him back away slowly from the intimidating maelstrom.

"He at least remembers Toothless!" Dalia chimed in, earning the wrathful glare of the valkyrie.

"So he remembers the dragon but not me?" The blonde woman huffed.

"I'm sure he remembers you!" Gustav tried only to be stopped by her raising her hand to silence him.

"He just called me Mrs. Hofferson." She pointed at Hiccup who was just staring at the conversation completely confused. She then sighed and placed her hand on the bridge of her nose, much like Hiccup does when he is frustrated. "So how do we get his memories back? Is there a potion or a serum or something? Anything!"

Dalia sighed, "I'm afraid not. The nadder poison spread to his head, and he fell and got a concussion as well. Only time will solve this and some events might trigger a memory to reappear."

"We don't have time to wait for his memories to come back! Berk needs him. We need him." The lady sighed and glared at Hiccup. "You know this is all your fault right?"

Hiccup shrugged then rolled his shoulders, "Honestly doesn't surprise me. I'm always messing things up. They don't call me Useless for nothing." He gave a mirthless laugh only to see Dalia's eyes widen and the Hofferson glowered and marched over to his side. She reeled back her arm and punched Hiccup on the shoulder.

"OW! What was that-" She cut him off.

"You are not useless! You were never useless!" She yelled. Before he could get a word in edgewise she punched his shoulder again. "And that is for almost getting yourself killed! What would I do!" She shook him by the shoulders a bit and Dalia looked like she was debating stepping in to help her patient and get murdered by the rampaging blonde or just standing there letting it play out.

She pulled back again and punched him the hardest this time. "And that is for forgetting about me!" She huffed then grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him slightly out of the bed before giving him a passionate kiss on the mouth. Hiccup's eyes widened in shock and his whole body froze. His arm was now hurting as bad as his head and he still had no idea what was going on.

After the kiss she threw him backwards and leaned in to whisper in his ear soft and gently this time. "And that was for saving Zephyr." He looked her in the eyes and she gave him a warm smile with a slight red tinge on her cheeks while brushing the hair off one side of her face and behind her ear. It warmed his entire body looking into the ocean of blue and the generally cuteness of her actions. That is when a memory slapped him across the face. He had just finished kidnapping his childhood crush and sharing with her his secret of harboring the unholy offspring of lightning and death. Upon setting down on the cove she brushed her hair behind her ear and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"A-astrid?" He choked out. Earning a laugh from her.

"So, I guess you do remember me after all." She smirked and tilted her hips placing a hand on her right side.

"I never forgot you! I just didn't know that. . . uh . . ." He placed his hand on the back of his neck and broke his gaze with her, "you were uh. . . ya know . . . so," He gestured to all of her.

"Spit it out Hiccup."

"Old." Her smile faded and the color drained from her face.

"What is that supposed to mean! You are older than me!" She huffed in annoyance.

"I-I-I mean yesterday you were fifteen, I fought a dragon the size of the mountain, got hit in the head then BAM! You're what, I don't know, forty!"

She narrowed her eyes, "38. I'm 38 Hiccup."

"I can see that! I'm confused as to why you are 38!" He said gesturing wildly across the room with his hands. He kicked his feet over the side of the bed.

"It's because I have lived for 38 years. That's how age works." She crossed her arms.

He sighed frustrated, "This isn't going anywhere. Listen Astri-" He tried to stand up but his left foot caught on something and caused him to nearly fall on his face. Astrid fluidly stepped in his way and caught him, holding him up. He looked down at his foot in disbelief. All that was there was a metal appendage that he had no recollection of ever getting. "What happened to my foot!"

Astrid chuckled, "Honestly, no one knows. We think Toothless ate it, that or it got burned to Helheim by the Red Death." She raised him a bit to help him straighten up. "You really don't remember anything do you?" He shook his head in response.

"Nothing after the Red Death knocked me out."

Astrid groaned, "That is going to make life a lot harder. Still, you need to come to the council meeting that we have in a few minutes."

"What! I have no memory of anything and I still need to attend the council meetings?" He said in defiance.

Astrid put her hands up in surrender, "Hey, you made the rules not me. I just follow them. Take it up with the chief."

"Fine, I'll have to talk with Dad about that later." Hiccup said as he was slowly leaning on the wall for support for his prosthetic. At this statement Astrid recoiled and glanced at the worried looks of both Gustav and Dalia.

Dalia mouthed what looked like "Let him figure it out." Before Astrid turned and dragged Hiccup outside, supporting him as best as she could. He immediately gasped and looked around at the unfamiliar scenery.

"W-where are we?" He stammered.

"New Berk. It's kind of a long story, but we we're about to be attacked and you made the decision to move somewhere else. In the end we settled on a more habitable island that is larger and better for growth while also succeeding in keeping us safe." Astrid replied nonchalantly.

"But vikings are stubborn. They've never listened to me before, why would they start listening now?"

Astrid gave him a sidelong glance as he hobbled to the new Great Hall, "You have made the most contributions to Berk and saved it from the most deadly wars than any other viking in all of Berk's history." His eyes grew wide and she turned to face him poking his forehead, "this brain of yours has saved Berk from annihilation four times already. A better question is why they wouldn't listen to you."

Hiccup was silent for the rest of the walk, limp, to the great hall. They opened the large doors and the rowdy crowd of vikings immediately stopped talking and turned to stare at the newcomers. Inside the hall was a large longtable that had multiple vikings sitting around it and four empty large chairs at the center of the table.

The vikings that were sitting around the table consisted of Gobber, Spitelout, Mulch, Bucket, Silent Sven, Snotlout, Fishlegs, Ruff, Tuff and an unfamiliar slender woman with greying auburn hair. They were all sitting in stone chairs that were intricate in their design that personified the person sitting in them. Hiccup knew they were undoubtedly Berk's council, most of whom he had met with on many occasions by his father's side. Speaking of which he still had not seen.

It was at this point that Hiccup finally realized just how much time had passed. He knew all of these faces, bar one. They were familiar and easy to pick out yet each was much older than he remembered yesterday. Gobber had wrinkles and his mustache was nearly white, and all of his 'friends' looked much older. He might have to accept that he really has aged 20 plus years in the span of a day.

Astrid led him around the table while all eyes followed them. Snotlout whispered something to his father which garnered a chuckle from the older man. Eventually they approached the four empty chairs. The first chair had engravings of a deadly nadder and blue and yellow scales scattered around the trim of the chair. At the head there was the engraving AH and when Astrid sat down in the chair Hiccup assumed it must have stood for Astrid Hofferson.

His gaze then turned to the chair next to her which clearly had Toothless engraved on the chair along with his scales scattered around the trim much like Astird's chair. At the head of this chair he saw the engraving HHH which clearly meant that this was his chair. On the other side of his chair he saw an almost exact copy of his chair except it had a few white scales and the engraving NH. Similarly, on the other side of Astrid's there was one with all white scales and the engraving ZH. Maybe they will arrive soon for the council meeting?

Hiccup took his seat and looked out at the members. They were all smiling and Tuffnut finally spoke up, "Glad to see you up and running H! Well, as much as you can run with that leg of yours." This earned him a punch from his sister and a chuckle from a few of the other council members.

Astrid cleared her throat and spoke up before anyone else could interrupt her, "Unfortunately due to unfortunate," she then turned and glanced at Hiccup, "circumstances. Please direct any and all topics of conversation to me rather than the usual plan."

"Wait, why isn't Hiccu-" Before Fishlegs could finish Astrid snapped at him.

"Because I said so Fish! It doesn't matter why right now let's just get through this meeting so I can solve this bigger problem."

Everyone seemed to be terrified of disagreeing with her and this caused Hiccup to smirk. Still the same old Astrid even if she does look a bit different. The only person not satisfied or intimidated by that answer was the older woman.

"Astrid, are you sure that is the best idea to keep this secret from us. We are the council of Berk, we are here to help you." The older woman stated.

Astrid sighed, "Sorry Mom, but I don't think the council can solve this." This only earned a blank stare from the woman causing Astrid to groan. "Fine. Hiccup lost his memory." Everyone gasped.

"Lost his memory?" Snotlout asked.

"How far back?"

"Does he remember Chicken?"

"He can still smith right?"

"Does this make me the Chief?"

Everyone was talking over each other and Astrid was about to yell at everyone to shut up before the older woman said "Son." At this all eyes turned on her and ceased their ramblings. It was clear to Hiccup that this woman held a lot of respect at the council yet he couldn't place her face. She spoke up again, "What is my name?" She asked directed at Hiccup.

"Uh," He looked at Astrid for support, but she too looked curious about his answer. He rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm sorry ma'am but the closest I came to figuring out your name is Astrid calling you Mom." At this response her eyes fell and she looked crestfallen.

She mumbled, "I lost him again." before looking up and hardening her gaze. "We should adjourn this council meeting until he remembers more of his past." Everyone nodded, but Snotlout protested.

"It's fine, I can run the meeting, we don't need Hic-" he was interrupted by the elderly woman slamming a staff onto the table causing everyone to jump.

"You are not the chief! The chief runs the council meetings! And he lost his memory so we wait until they are back! Understood?" She yelled. Snotlout nodded profusely.

The rest of the council seemed shocked by her outburst and proceeded to leave the Great Hall shooting Hiccup worried looks on their way out. The only ones that stayed behind were Astrid, Gobber and Hiccup.

"Are ya' alright laddie?" Gobber asked, placing a hooked hand on his shoulder.

Hiccup looked up at Gobber then to Astrid, "I'm the chief?" he asked sorrowly. Astrid merely nodded.

"You have been for the last 18 years."

"And what happened to him? My dad?" Hiccup asked no one in particular.

Gobber sighed, "Well Toothless killed him. He was under the control of a bewilderbeast."

At the mention of this a memory resurfaced. He was trying to calm Toothless down as the dragon slowly approached him growling with slitted eyes. He watched his best friend slowly prepare a shot aimed at Hiccup. He heard his father, "Hiccup!" Hiccup looked over to his dad, "Son!"

"Dad, No!" Before he could do anything Stoick tackled his son and Toothless shot a plasma blast. After the smoke and debris settled Hiccup looked up to see his father under crystal rocks. He ran over and uncovered his Father's lifeless body. Hiccup stared at his father. Guilt ridden is his body, knowing this was all his fault. All of his doing and it should have been him.

Hiccup broke down crying. Astrid was by his side rubbing his arm trying to soothe the pain. "It should have been me. It was all my fault." Hiccup said in between sobs.

"Nonsense Hiccup." Gobber said, gathering his attention. "That was ya father's decision only. He knew what he was doing and he would do it again if he had ta. A chief protects his own, but more importantly a father protects his own. Ya'll understand more when all of y'er memories come back." Gobber chuckled. "In fact that's why we are in this mess. I've known ya y'er whole life laddie. One thing ya haven't outgrown is y'er reckless behavior."

Astrid huffed, "Tell me about it Gobber." She turned to him and gave Hiccup a warm smile. "Come on, I know just the thing that will cheer you up." Hiccup gave her a questioning look. "I won't speak. Just let me show you." She held out her hand giving Hiccup a smirk. Hiccup chuckled and took her hand.
