Two days later

Meanwhile, Linda had been subjected to multiple examinations both physical and mental. It was determined that she was underweight and had been subjected to a poor diet while she had been away. Dieticians worked with her to create sample menus that included her favorite foods as well as nutritionally dense items to help her recover her physical condition. An exercise therapist assessed her current state and made suggestions for physical therapy three times each week along with exercises to be done at home along with walking and jogging at home. Once the examinations and the therapists' recommendations had been completed Linda would be discharged to the family home. This might be familiar to her and the home that Danny had created with his sons and family was totally new to her. Danny had been home one night before Linda was to be discharged and was able to make sure the staples had been replaced. His plan had been to be away for ten days on his honeymoon but that didn't happen. He made a list of things that should have been done when the reception and other post ceremony events didn't happen and planned to call his father to see what had been done.

He sat on the sofa and dialed his father's cell. "Dad, it's Danny."

"Glad to hear from you son, are you doing okay?"

"Well, if the bongo drums banging in my head would stop, I'd be better, but I know I have only myself to blame. Sorry I was such an idiot, I'm still not sure how many stupid things I did. I hope you have a list somewhere of who I need to apologize to. It's probably miles long; I just can't believe what has happened in the last forty-eight hours. Please tell me I didn't hurt anyone, at least physically?"

"I can tell you that no one has a black eye or any other damage that can be seen. But there's a big mess to clean up and I don't know where to start."

"That's part of why I'm calling. Can you tell me what happened? After seeing Linda and being with her and the boys I remember sending them back to school and then went home and emptied my liquor cabinet. My car isn't here, does that mean that it's still at your place? I remember being there but can't remember how I got home."

"Yes, the car is here. Jamie took the battery out so it wouldn't start in case you tried to do something while we were sleeping. I can have someone bring it back to you when you're ready."

"Okay, that takes care of one item on my list. Now, what happened with the reception? Obviously, it didn't happen."

"No, I called and canceled it and at Maria's request all the food was donated to a few homeless shelters."

"And the honeymoon reservations?"

"I don't know. I would say call Maria, but I don't think she'll speak to you. Do you remember the name of the place you were going to?"

"Yeah, I think I have it here somewhere, thanks. I'll give them a call when I finish with you. Have you heard from the hospital? I suppose I should get over there and see how Linda's doing. Do you have a number for her?" Frank gave him the information as well as an update on his car – it should be in his driveway within the hour thanks to Jamie and Eddie.

"Danny, Linda is going to meet with the FBI and DEA regarding what happened to her. Are you planning on being with her while this happens?"

"Dad, I didn't think it would be so soon, I mean she's just escaped. Does she have protection at the hospital?"

"Yes, both NYPD and FBI are responsible for her safety. Do you have any idea if Linda had a mental health professional that she saw? I'd like to be sure her interests are preserved during this meeting."

"Yeah, Dad, she dragged me to see someone named Doctor Bennet, a woman, I think I may have the address around here or maybe Doctor Dawson knows her and can get you in touch. Thanks for thinking about that, it never occurred to me. If I'm gonna have any time with Linda, I'd better get a move on. I need to take a shower and another handful of pain pills for my head. Thanks, I'll talk to you later. If you happen to talk to Maria…"

"I doubt it, she's on vacation. But I can leave a message."

"Not yet, Dad. I still would like to see her in person. See you later, bye."
