Chapter 05: Second Base camp
"Hey Dave. Can you do me a favor?" Asked Akari.
"Sure, tell me what you need"
"Please meet me at the training field. I tell you more there."
Akari started to run up the road. I followed her to the training field. There were a few arena style fields. Though none of them seem to be used. Akari was waiting for me on one field.
"There you are Akari." I called out.
"Hey Dave, thanks for coming. After seeing you handle all those pokemon, I need wanted to ask for your help. You know, I got my own partner." Said Akari, calling out her Pokemon.
A Pikachu appeared from the pokeball. By the tail I could say it was male. The Pikachu was glaring at Akari as it was called out.
"This is my Pikachu, I received it when I started as a Survey corps member. But it never really listened to me. He even attacked quite a few times." She told me
"I wanted to ask for a battle, maybe I can learn how to handle Pikachu better." She asked.
"Sure, let's do it." I told her, going to one side of the field.
"Be ready Pikachu, he's a strong tamer" She said going to the opposite of me.
"Pika Pi…" it scoffed, but taking his position.
*This Pikachu really doesn't like Akari.*
"Rowlet come out!" I yelled calling out my grass owl.
"row? Rowlet!" he chirped getting ready.
"Alright Pikachu, start with a thundershock!" yelled Akari
Pikachu started charging his attacks, his cheeks sparking with electricity.
"Use leafage to create cover" I commanded.
Rowlet created leaf shield all around him. Pikachu shoot out his attack as soon as it was charged. The electric attack his the leaf shield, burning most of it but weakening enough for Rowlet to survive.
"Now! Gust and follow up with Tackle!" I yelled my command.
"Oh no! Pikachu dodge!" She said.
Instead of following Akari's direction, Pikachu started charging another thunder shock. He was hit by the gust attack before he could fire his thunder shock. Pikachu was knocked of his feet. Rowlet immediately followed with the tackle. Knocking Pikachu out.
"Pikachu!" Akari run towards her pokemon, using a potion to heal him.
It took a few minutes for him to wake up. He looked quite disappointed.
"You saw it, didn't you? Pikachu didn't listen to my last command and got hit by your rowlet. I just don't know what to do." She told me, looking sadly at the Pikachu.
"hmm. Can you lend me Pikachu's pokeball a bit?" I asked her.
*Maybe he doesn't like his pokeball like Ash's Pikachu.*
"Why would you need his pokeball?" She asked
"Some Pokemon don't like going inside the pokeball. Pikachu's seem to be especially susceptible to it." I told her.
She handed me the Pokeball after the explanation.
"Hey little guy. Can you answer me a question?" I asked the Pikachu.
"Pi?" it asked suspicious of me.
"Don't worry, it's nothing suspicious. Say do you prefer to go back into the pokeball or stay outside?" I asked him, holding out the pokeball.
"Pika pi chuu." It growled at the pokeball.
"I see, how about we make a deal. I get Akari not to recall you into the pokeball. You in turn will start to listen to what she says." I told him.
"Pika? Pii…" It was thinking about my proposition. After a few moments he nodded.
"That's that. You heard us. He will listen to you as long as you don't recall him" I said towards Akari.
"But what if he attacks me again?" She asked worriedly.
"Don't worry about it. If anything happens I will take responsibility." I tried to calm her down.
"That only works when you are near me. He knows you can beat him if he doesn't listen to you" She said.
"Really Akari. You worry. How about moving with me? You wouldn't be alone with it that way." I jokingly asked.
Instead of immediately denying my suggestion, she remained quit. A few moments later she nodded to herself.
"Alright… I will do it for the Survey corps." She told me quietly, not looking at me.
"Wait really?" I asked, not expecting that.
"Don't get the wrong idea. I'm only doing it to connect to Pikachu." She said glaring at me.
"Pika pi" Pikachu sweat dropped watching her reaction.
"Alright, alright. How about we get your things." I told her with my hand up.
"Hmpf!" She didn't say anything and just started moving. Pikachu following right behind her.
We got to her house and took the few belongings she had. The whole thing took less than an hour.
"And done. Everything in place." I said to her.
"Dave, when did you bath the last time?" She asked my holding her nose.
"Ah, I didn't have any time bathing since I got here." I confessed.
'sigh'"Boys… I will never understand how you can stay dirty like that. Let me show you the bath house." She said grabbing my hand, dragging me to the bath house.
"Here we are. Let's get in and clean yourself." She said, still holding my hand.
*hmmm, should I mention her still holding my hand? Why not, that's a common flag*
"Umm, Akari?" I tried to sound bashful, looking at our hands.
"What?" She asked.
She saw me not looking at her, but between us. Following my gaze she realized that she was holding my hand the whole time. She immediately let go and made some distance between us.
"I'm sorry…" She said going bright red.
"Don't worry, let's just get it. Pikachu, get on my shoulder. You're coming with me." I said.
Pikachu decided to listen to me and jumped on my shoulder.
Nothing much happened afterwards. We took our baths and returned back home. We decided to go to sleep after eating. After making our beds, Akari decided to add some rules.
"Listen and listen well. See this line here?"
She pointed towards the rope she laid out between our beds.
"You are absolutely forbidden to cross it. Pikachu, if he tries anything. You are allowed to shock him. Understood?" She told us both.
I and Pikachu were looking at each other.
'Really? I didn't expect her to accept my offer, but isn't she quite demanding?'
'Don't ask me bro, she's quite the strange girl.' Said Pikachu shrugging its shoulders
Of course I only heard the usual pika pika sounds, but I imagined that's what he said.
I simply agreed and got into bed.
-The next day—
As I woke up I felt an unfamiliar weight on me. Opening my eyes I saw Akari on top of me. Her head was resting on my chest, one of her hands under my shirt. My own arm was around her waist.
"pika" I heard the little Electric mouse, judging me.
"Hey don't look at me like that. She moved on top of me!" I told him.
"shut up… I want to sleep... its comfy here…" She said wiggling around, throwing one of her legs on top of me.
"Pika pika pi chuu" he smirked.
"Shut up, you dirty old man." I whispered towards him.
"mmmh. Can't you both be quite?" Said Akari, waking up.
She slowly opened her eyes. Realizing her unfamiliar position, she decided to sit up. She looked at me. She looked at herself. She looked back at me.
"Good morning Akari, hope you slept well." I smiled at her before getting slapped.
Akari jumped back to one of the corners.
"P-p-p-p-p-ervert! How dare you attack me as I was sleeping! Pikachu use thunder shock on this pervert!" She yelled.
"Don't you dare Pikachu! You know it's not my fault!" I pleaded towards the electric mouse.
"Pika pii…CHUU!" It simply shrugged before firing his attack on me.
"Gyaaah!" I yelled, feeling my muscles spasm from the attack.
-few minutes later—
"I'm so sorry." Said Akari doing a dogeza.
"Just stop it. I'm not blaming you. It's all Pikachu's fault." I glared at the yellow rat.
Instead of looking remorseful at all, it simply started snickering.
I glared at it one last time before getting ready to leave. We left our house and walked towards Anthe's tailor shop.
"Anthe, are you here?" I called out.
"Oh my. Good morning dear. How can I help you?" Asked Anthe coming out.
"Remember what I told you about wurmple? Well, I brought you one for you to check." I said calling out one of my Wurmple.
"Oh my, that's quite a cute pokemon." She said gushing at the little wurmple.
Wurmple seemed to enjoy the attention, pushing his head towards her leg.
"This little guy seems to like you already. Hey Wurmple, mind using stringshot on that empty corner?" I told.
Wurmple simply fired a stringshot on the corner. The silk was a bit sticky, but felt otherwise quite smooth.
"What do you think? Can you turn this into clothes?" I asked her.
"Oh my, it's quite smooth. Assuming I could clean it, I could certainly use it." She told me.
"Great, what do you think? Could you take this little guy off my hands? He's already quite fond of you." I pointed out how the Wurmple already moved back to her.
"Really, I'm already this old and you expect me to take care of a pokemon. But alright. It looks like this deary will give me some company." She said petting the Wurmple who loved the attention.
After handing her wurmple's ball and saying our goodbyes, me and Akari left towards the headquarters. On the way I met the guard who requested a wurmple. After handing him my last wurmple we decided to name it Beaugene.
We soon met with Captain Cyllene.
"Good morning both of you." Said Cyllene.
"Good morning Captain" Both me and Akari greeted back.
Cyllene nodded before she stood up, removing something from her desk and moving towards us.
"This is your reward for your work yesterday. You get 5,000 a few new recipes. Inside are the instructions to make Heavy-balls and Potions. "She said handing me the money and folder.
"Now, listen well. We received an opportunity to build a new base. But there is a catch. It seems the place was invaded by an Alpha Pokémon. I want you both to go upstairs and report to Commander Kamado. He will gave you further instructions. Dismissed." Said Cyllene, not wasting anymore words.
"Yes Captain!" Answered Akari
Akari walked in front of me since I was not supposed to know where the office was. We reached the third floor before Akari knocked on one of the doors.
"Commander. Survey corps member Akari and Dave are reporting for duty." She called out.
"Just in time, come in." I heard the voice of the Commander.
Commander Kamado stood in front of his desk. He was an older men in his 40s. He had black hair, a magnificent mustache. He wore a black Yukata and Jacket, his bulging muscles visible under his clothes.
"WELCOME! I heard a lot about you. Now show me what you got!" He said getting into battle position.
I simply charged at him like in the game. I similarly ended up on the ground.
"Dave!" Yelled Akari, checking me for injuries.
"Really, you shouldn't have done that. I heard that the commander once beat a Machamp in arm wrestling. You never stood a chance." She told me.
*A Machamp really?* I thought skeptically.
"BWAHAHAHAHA! You got the spirit. Now listen and obey. Tomorrow at dawn, Mai of the Diamond Clan will wait for you at the bridge. You need to spend the night at the Basecamp and move out early towards her. She will accompany you towards the Wyrdeer shrine. I expect you to be on your best behavior! Now go forth for the glory of Team Galaxy!" Commanded Kamado.
Akari grabbed me and dragged me out before I could say anything.
"Akari, please tell me your Machamp comment was a joke." I asked.
"It wasn't. There was once an Alpha Garchomp living near hear. I saw the Commander punch it. Last I heard the Garchomp landed in the Alabaster Icelands." She told me in a serious voice.
"What…" I was stunned hearing what she said.
We soon reached the basecamp. We spend the rest of the day on the field challenging wild Pokemon. None of my Pokemon further evolved. At night one of the wild Drifloon wandered near the basecamp. After a small fight I was able to catch it. I and Akari slept in the same tent without further issue.
-The next day—
Like yesterday, I found Akari sleeping on top of me, in a similar position. Thankfully she didn't freak out again. After realizing her position, she simply blushed and moved away.
After a small breakfast we moved towards the bridge. I saw a young, black haired women in Diamond Clan outfit at the other side.
"You must be those Galaxy grunts that were send. I expected more than two kids." Said Mai arrogantly, literally looking down at us.
"Who are you calling grunts?" I called out to her, quite insulted.
"You of course. I doubt you can be of use." She said.
"Oh? Is that so? In that case, why don't you prove it to me then? I challenge you to a Pokemon fight." I said glaring at her.
"Dave! Stop it. The Commander told us to be on our best behavior." Hissed Akari.
"How barbaric, as expected from outsider. As you wish, I will put you in your place. Go Munchlax." Mai called out the baby Pokemon.
"Munch"
A small Munchlax appeared from the pokeball. It had a half-eaten Oran berry in his hand.
"Rowlet. Fuck him up." I said darkly.
"How uncouth. Munchlax use rollout." Commanded Mai.
The Munchlax started using roll out. Munchlex tried to hit Rowlet but missed since it took flying. I didn't give Rowlet any commands. He simply fired a few leafeges before knocking out the Munchlax.
"Come back Munchlax. It seems you are not just full of hot air. Let's hope you can continue your winning streak against the Kricketune." Mai simply recalled her Pokemon and started walking away.
"Really Dave, I'm not going to protect you from the commander when he hears this." Said Akari to me.
I didn't react to it, instead decided to simply follow Mai. It took half a day to reach Wyrdeers shrine. On the way I caught a Kricketot and Geodude that jumped from one of the Red Tumblestone nodes.
"Here we are, just look at it. Troublemaker is attacking anyone entering the clearing."
Mai was pointing at a giant Kricketune flying around the clearing.
"yooOOOSH! Just in time. Hello Akari, Dave." Greeted Professor Laventon.
"Professor Laventon? How did you get here?" Asked Akari.
"Captain Cyllene told me an hour ago about your mission. I just couldn't let the chance go to study a Alpha pokemon from close up." He laughed
"Wait a second. Did you run all the way here within one hour?" I asked him.
"Or course boy, how else would I get here in time." He said smiling, his teeth shining.
I refused to further think about it. I simply moved towards the Kricketune and released Rowlet.
"TUNE" Yelled the Alpha pokemon.
"Rowlet start with Gust." I commanded.
Rowlet flapped its wings, firing a gust. Kricketune ignored the attack and disappeared from sight. A second later it reappeared hitting Rowlet from behind. Rowlet hit the ground but hadn't fainted.
I decided to recall it and call Staravia.
I commanded him to start with a quick attack, hitting the Kricketune with enough force to slide back. Kricketune grabbed Staravia before it could it could get away and started biting it. Staravia winced a bit but was otherwise unaffected.
"Staravia, do some close up Gust."
Staravia started flapping its wings. The wind was enough to throw the Alpha Pokemon against a stone wall.
"Now finish it with Aerial Ace." I yelled.
Staravia disappeared for a moment before reappeared in front of Kricketune, hitting it in the abdomen. It crashed into the wall, fainting from impact. I throw my pokeball, catching it immediately.
"It seems I have underestimated you. You are not just a grunt, you are at least a henchman." Said Mai walking towards me.
"You don't have any friends, do you?" I asked blankly.
"Hmpf. Who needs friends? Anyway you did your part. And as promised you are allowed to set up a camp in the clearing. Now if you excuse me. I got things to do." Said Mai, who was about to leave.
"WYR!"
We heard a pokemon cry from one of the Hills. On top of it was the Noble Pokemon Wyrdeer. It jumped down and approached me.
"Wyrdeer" It greeted me, handing me not a flute, but an Ocarina.
"Ok, this is unexpected. Do you want me to play it?" I asked the Wyrdeer.
It simply noded.
Fun fact about me, I'm terrible with all instruments except the Ocarina. After playing Ocarina of Time, I practiced the songs for 3 years until I could play each song by memory alone.
*Let's try playing Eponas song for the start.*
The Wyrdeer listened to the song for almost two minutes before I stopped. It grabbed me with his mouth and throw me on its back.
"DEER" It cheered happily
"Woah, calm down." I said almost falling from its back.
Mai was left speechless watching me on Wyrdeers back.
"This can't be, only the leader of the Diamond Clan should be able to ride it. Not even I, his warden can't ride him." Yelled Mai towards me.
"Well, there is only one explanation dear Mai, you are lower than the Grunt me." I said, grinning towards her.
has stopped working
-Check Online for Solution and close the program
-Close the program
I left her there and rode Wyrdeer towards the others.
"Hey Akari, Professor. We got permission to build the camp here." I said smiling innocently.
-End Of Chapter
Author note: And done. It was fun writing the chapter, though I might slow done to weekly release. I've got a second save file I'm using while I write the fic, but I want to relax a bit and shiny hunt. I'm writing the story while playing the game. My story fights will be based on my gameplay, though I will use some creative freedom to make it more interesting than just spamming 2 super effective moves.
Same with catching pokemon for the Pokedex. I will fill out every pokedex entry as I play, but in this fic, Dave gets the complete entry immediately.
Baistro334 Thanks. I made the title intentionally this long since every single Japanese Isekai has ridiculously long names.
