A/N: sithlorde1988 here, and while this isn't an update on any of my CURRENT stories, it IS a story, albeit a one-shot! I figured, since today happens to be Mother's Day (the day I type this A/N), why not do a special one-shot for the occasion? At first I couldn't decide on what universe to set this in, but then I recalled the interesting (if at times quirky at best) dynamic that Rosalina and the Lumas have in the Mario Galaxy games, so I figured why the heck not? Therefore this is a Mario one-shot (but a more wholesome one in theory than my previous one-shot), so sit back and enjoy the show! Per usual, I do not own the Mario series in any way, shape or form, nor do I own any of the characters appearing therein. The ones that DO own said series know who they are and can accept the credit that is theirs for making such a timeless game series. That said, on with the story!

ROSALINA AND LUMA'S FIRST MOTHER'S DAY

One day, up in the confines of a spacecraft known simply as the Comet Observatory *1*, a trio of small star-like creatures were seen looking down through a telescope (which of course there's telescopes on a craft called the Comet OBSERVATORY, duh!) at something on the planet below them, which was called Earth. More specifically, they were gazing at an area known simply as the Mushroom Kingdom, where the residents were preparing to celebrate a certain holiday. One of the three star-like creatures, a red one, looked at his companions as they gazed into the telescope at the planet below.

"Why are we doing this again?" The creature asked his friends. The closer of the two, a pink star-like creature, looked over at the creature that had spoken, a smile on their face before they answered him.

"Oh silly Lumtan, we're just observing what the residents of the Mushroom Kingdom are up to. Or did you forget it's in us Lumas' nature to be curious? Is that not a trait that Mama encourages us to have?" The pink creature, or Luma as she'd identified their race as being called, said to the now named Lumtan who nodded (or as close to a nod as a Luma can manage at least) at the female Luma (apparently Lumas differentiate gender by coloring for whatever reason) before replying.

"I know that Lumaria, but that's not what I was asking and I think you know it. I was asking why specifically are we spying on the Mushroom Kingdom?" Lumtan answered the now-named Lumaria. Before Lumaria could answer, the third Luma, a green-colored male, turned from the telescope he'd been looking into to face Lumtan.

"Because we heard about a certain holiday getting ready to be celebrated, so we were curious to learn more about this 'Mother's Day' that is spoken of in the Mushroom Kingdom. After all, if it is a big deal, shouldn't we be able to know of it in case it's something we can enjoy with Mama?" The green-colored Luma said to Lumtan in a wise but calm tone. Lumtan nodded to the green Luma in understanding.

"Ah. Now THAT is a sound and sensible explanation, Lumoshi. Too bad Lumaria is so playful she can't give a good explanation like that." Lumtan replied to the now-named Lumoshi. He then took a turn gazing into the telescope at the kingdom down below, frowning as it was currently aligned to look down at a grand and majestic castle in the middle of what Lumtan guessed to be the Mushroom Kingdom, squinting a bit to clearly make out the picture of a blonde-haired and blue-eyed woman wearing a pink dress on the roof of the castle. If not for the pink dress and the more regal features, Lumtan would've mistaken the girl in the picture for his and the other Lumas' own mother.

However, their Mama, as they call her, wears a sky-blue (almost aquamarine) dress and a silver crown, and is probably much more slender than this woman. He then shook his musings off and kept watching as the telescope panned down to show a small shelled creature with a bandanna over his face knocking on the front door of the castle, setting what looked to be an envelope and a bouquet of flowers by the door and walking off, figuring the gift would be better received if it wasn't known who left it. Because he ran away so fast, he didn't realize someone had seen him through the peephole in the door.

As it was, when the door opened, it was to reveal an elderly looking person with a mushroom for a head and a white mustache, who picked up the flowers and envelope, frowning as he saw the name on the envelope, before closing the door. Curious, Lumtan adjusted the telescope to look into an open window, where he could just see a throne and a regal looking room through the window, and on the throne he could see a woman sitting, looking almost bored as she sat on the throne. Even from a distance, Lumtan could tell this was the girl that was painted on the roof of the castle from her hair and eyes. Eventually, he saw the person from before enter the room and bow to the woman on the throne in respect. Because of the telescope, he couldn't hear anything that was being said. But that didn't stop Lumtan or the other two. It was actually Lumaria who suggested after Lumtan relayed what he'd seen that they sneak down to Earth to spy on what was going on, which they did, unaware of another pair of Lumas watching the whole exchange, fond but amused smiles on their faces at their friends/siblings' plans.

(Meanwhile, back in the throne room of Peach's Castle)

"Begging Your Majesty's pardon, but these were found out in front of the castle. And judging from the envelope, they were meant for you, milady. Shall I have the guards scan them for pranks/traps before you open them?" The one who'd brought the envelope and bouquet in asked the now-confused princess that turned to face him. The princess seemed to ponder this for a bit before shaking her head in the negative.

"No, that's not necessary Toadsworth. Besides, how can you use a bouquet of flowers as a prank or trap? They're just too pretty for something like that. And given that this is the eve of Mother's Day, I can somewhat guess who these are from anyways. But I appreciate the concern." The princess said to the now-named Toadsworth, smiling at him for his concern. Toadsworth nodded, bowing.

"As you wish, Princess Peach. I'll just leave you to your musings now, I suppose." Toadsworth said to the now-named Peach before bowing once more and seeing himself out of the throne room, leaving the now-named Peach to frown at the bouquet and letter, wondering why she'd get something like this out of nowhere. As much as she hopes he sent it, somehow Peach knew these weren't from Mario. She shrugged, opening up the envelope, blinking at the letter inside. Her curiosity getting the better of her, Peach decided to read the letter as it wasn't all that that long. It read:

Dear Mama,

I know you'll probably be inclined to not accept this if you knew it was coming for me, but it IS Mother's Day so I figured I'd do something nice for you. Why did I just leave these and run, you ask? Simple. I knew you probably wouldn't want me or Papa around possibly ruining the holiday for you, and techincally speaking Papa doesn't even know I did this! I might have kinda borrowed the Clown Car to drop these off for you. So hopefully these flowers serve to let you know that at least someone remembers you on this most special day. Happy Mother's Day!

-Bowser Jr.

After she finished the letter, Peach actually gasped as she realized what was going on. She then shook her head in amused disbelief.

"Oh Junior, didn't you hear me before when I said I'm not your actual mother? *2* Well, at least the flowers are nice. And it WAS rather sweet of him to do this for me." Peach decided, smiling as she grabbed a nearby vase before putting the flowers in it, before walking over to the adjacent bathroom and filling the vase with water from the sink before sitting it on the table next to her throne, smiling as she set the letter next to it, deciding to somehow send a thank-you note back even if she has to ask Mario and Luigi to deliver it for her. At that thought, she let herself giggle slightly at the thought of the expressions on their faces at such a request. Unbeknownst to her, a trio of eavesdroppers had seen/heard the entire thing from just outside the window, the three slowly climbing back down towards the ground and making their way away from the castle and hurrying back to the nearest Launch Stars to head back to the Observatory and share their discoveries with their fellow Lumas.

(Back on the Comet Observatory)

The two Lumas who'd seen the trio leave for Earth stood by the point they knew they'd return from, one looking at the other.

"So Lumelia, why do you think those three snuck down to Earth on a whim?" One of the Lumas asked the other, who was revealed to be named Lumelia.

"Not sure Lumella, but if I had to guess, it's probably something to do with whatever they were talking about and looking at through the telescope." The now named Lumella replied to Lumelia, clearly as confused as Lumelia. Both Lumelia and Lumella are female Lumas, not just because of their names but because one is violet-colored and the other is a sort of magenta color. As they discussed this, the two female Lumas didn't hear the Launch Stars deposit the three returning Lumas next to them until they heard another voice speak up.

"Lumelia? Lumella? Why are you two here?" Lumaria asked in confusion, drawing the two other females' attention to the fact the three wayward Lumas had returned from sneaking off.

"We saw you leave and got curious as to why you would sneak off like that. You do realize that was foolish, right? What if Mama had caught you three? You know full well she doesn't like us slipping off without saying anything to her! What if something had happened to you three and you never made it back? Next time at least leave a note or something so no one worries or panics. Got it?" Lumella said to Lumaria, slightly scolding the trio, who winced as they realized she was correct. They nodded, all three looking contrite and apologetic.

"Sorry, Lumella. We were just curious about something we'd seen is all. Apparently down in the Mushroom Kingdom, they're getting ready to celebrate something called 'Mother's Day' and we were curious about it. Needless to say we didn't learn very much about it while down there, but we DID learn that apparently it's a day for honoring your mother. Apparently with gifts, if the fact that Peach received a bouquet of flowers and letters from a Bowser Jr. that called her 'Mama' in it is any indication." Lumaria explained while Lumtan and Lumoshi nodded their agreement. Lumelia blinked at this.

"Ohh, right that holiday. We've heard of it. But as I recall, it's not Mama's most favorite time of year since it reminds her of the fact her Mama's not alive anymore from what I remember." Lumelia replied after a brief pause to make sure she recalled correctly. Lumella nodded.

"Exactly, it's not a pleasant thing for her to think about. So we're not bringing it up if we can avoid it. Personally, I think we should do something nice for her for the occasion, though I'm kinda at a loss as to what exactly?" Lumelia suggested, and both Lumtan and Lumoshi's eyes lit up at the suggestion while Lumaria had a thought.

"We can't cook or anything, but what if we went down and got someone to help us at least make a special card or letter for Mama? At the least, we can help her have positive memories of Mother's Day. And as we don't have fully formed hands, we can't really do something like that very well." Lumaria suggested.

"That's a good idea, but who would we ask for help? As far as I can remember, Mario's not the most creative person even if he is very brave, noble and kind. And I don't think we want help from either of those two guys that always compete with Mario and Luigi by claiming to be their rivals. I think Mama called those two Wario and Waluigi once? But I might be wrong. I mean, Luigi is possibly an option. At the least, he strikes me as creative. And given that we often see him taking strolls and the like with Daisy, he at the very least has a good sense for making people happy. Plus, I doubt we could ask Peach or the other princess for help since we can't be sure they wouldn't spoil the surprise early." Lumoshi said with a slight frown. Lumtan had an idea.

"Luigi's an option, but what if possibly we see about getting Peach to cook something up for Mama on our behalf to surprise her with? We know she can cook well, mainly because Mama said so." Lumtan suggested. Both Lumelia and Lumaria turned to face Lumtan in surprise.

"Lumtan, that's brilliant! And the fact that Mama acts like she finds Peach cute on the few instances I've seen her observing the Mushroom Kingdom is just an added bonus." Lumelia replied. Lumaria and Lumella giggled at Lumelia's mention of Rosalina, or Mama as the Lumas call her, having a crush on the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. But this isn't the time for romance. No, this is the time for surprising their Mama!

"Granted, even if Mama likes her, I'm pretty sure the princess doesn't swing that way if the fact she almost seems to pine for Mario is any indication. But I suppose there's a first time for everything? But for now, we focus on surprising Mama for Mother's Day and then we can worry about maybe getting them together LATER if at all. Got it everyone?" Lumella said to the others, who nodded.

"That said, I think to make this go smoother, we'll have Lumoshi and Lumelia stay here in case interference needs to be run, while Lumelia, Lumtan and I go back down to the Mushroom Kingdom to see about enlisting Luigi and possibly Peach's assistance with our plans to surprise Mama for Mother's Day. And Lumtan, not a word out of you while we're there about Mama possibly liking Peach. We're trying to surprise her, not play matchmaker. Got it?" Lumaria said after thinking about it for a bit, suggesting a plan to the others.

"I like the plan. And don't worry Lumaria, I'll make sure he doesn't open his mouth about that." Lumelia replied, fixing Lumtan with a look that said 'let us girls do the talking!', making Lumtan simply nod in acquiescence before the three made their way down to the Mushroom Kingdom, Lumella and Lumoshi watching them from the telescope, all the while devising a cover story to explain away the three other Lumas' disappearance if it was questioned. As they did so, the three other Lumas landed back in the Mushroom Kingdom.

"OK, so now that we're here, how about you take Lumtan and go enlist the assistance of Luigi while I go alone to speak to Princess Peach to try and enlist her services? That way we don't have to worry about Lumtan slipping up in front of Peach. That sound good to you, Lumaria?" Lumelia asked Lumaria as they got off the Launch Star, ignoring the soft huff of 'RUDE!' that came from Lumtan behind them at Lumelia's suggestion that he can't keep secrets. Lumaria nodded.

"That'll work. Quick question though: do we even know where the Mario Brothers live?" Lumaria asked Lumelia who blinked at that point, realizing it made sense. Luckily for the trio, a passing Toad heard the question.

"Oh, are you three friends of Mario and Luigi?" The Toad asked the trio. They blinked at the question.

"N-no, not really. But our Mama is a friend of theirs. Perhaps you've heard of her? Her name is Rosalina." Lumtan nervously answered the Toad, prompting twin facepalms from Lumelia and Lumaria at Lumtan's response (or as close to facepalming as a Luma can probably get), but surprisingly the Toad brightened up at the mention of Rosalina's name.

"Oh, you mean the Protector of the Cosmos? THAT Rosalina? I hear she's friends with Princess Peach." The Toad replied, leaning in to whisper into Lumtan's ear (or whatever equivalent thereof that a Luma has).

"And rumor has it that Princess Peach might have a slight fondness of Rosalina, if not more." The Toad whispered to a shocked Lumtan.

"Really? I didn't think princesses were allowed to like girls that way?" Lumtan quietly questioned the toad, prompting Lumelia AND Lumaria to turn wide-eyed gazes onto Lumtan.

"What do you mean by that?" the two female Lumas simultaneously asked.

"He means that the Princess might or might not be secretly enamored with your Mama. And frankly, it's better that than pining away for someone who won't notice her the way she wants to be noticed." The Toad replied before blinking.

"Oh but where are my manners? My name is Hot T." The now-named Hot T. said to the Lumas, none of them getting the pun in his name. The Lumas nodded.

"Nice to meet you, sir. I'm Lumtan and these are my sisters Lumaria and Lumelia." Lumtan said to Hot T., gesturing to each of the females with him as he spoke to indicate which was which. Hot T. nodded at the Lumas.

"Nice to meet the three of you as well. I take it you have business with the Mario brothers then?" Hot T. asked the Lumas, who nodded.

"We came down to try and enlist Luigi's help, and possibly Peach's as well, in surprising our Mama for Mother's Day." Lumtan answered Hot T.

"You see, it's usually not a pleasant time for her due to, let's go with 'reasons' I guess." Lumelia explained. Hot T. nodded in understanding.

"Fair enough. The Mario Brothers live down that way, so if you follow these alleyways to the left, you'll eventually come to a pipe that leads to the Mario Brothers' house. *3* You can't miss it. I take it some of you are headed to the castle to try and get Peach to help with this surprise?" Hot T. asked the Lumas, who nodded.

"Yes. Lumtan and Lumaria are headed to speak to Luigi while I'm headed to the castle to try and speak to the Princess." Lumelia explained to Hot T., who nodded in understanding at Lumelia.

"Very well, I will escort you to the castle if you consent to that, Miss Lumelia." Hot T. said to Lumelia smiled, nodding.

"Really? In that case, I accept. Thank you, kind sir!" Lumelia said to Hot T. who nodded respectfully.

"But of course. Like I could let a lady like you wander around here on your own. Granted, this kingdom is usually pretty peaceful, but there's still the occasional n'er'do-wells who turn up to disturb the peace. So better safe than sorry." Hot T. explained to Lumelia, who nodded understandingly.

"I see. Well, shall we be off? You two remember the directions Hot T. gave you, right?" Lumelia said, aiming the second part of her response at Lumaria and Lumtan who nodded. The two then headed off towards the pipe that was indicated, as Hot T. offered his arm (since Toads don't have very big hands if they have hands at all) to Lumelia.

"Shall we?" Hot T. asked Lumeria, who nodded, taking the offered arm as the two headed off towards Peach's castle.

(Meanwhile, at the Mario Brothers' house)

"Pretty crazy, don't-a you think Luigi? It's Mother's Day, but we have no idea what our mother is up to or even if she's okay. Hopefully she's doing well. *4* I wonder if Peach is holding up well today?" A short man wearing a red cap, red shirt and overalls with brown boots asked his brother, named Luigi. Luigi was easily distinguishable from his brother as he was not only taller than him, but he wore a lot of green where his brother wore red. Luigi shrugged at his brother's question.

"No clue, Mario. At least Daisy doesn't let this holiday bother her. But then I suppose to be fair she at least sees her mom occasionally even if she doesn't come around often. But anyways, hopefully we can maybe cheer Peach up if she's not feeling 100% today." Luigi replied to his brother, who was revealed to be named Mario. Mario nodded.

"Good-a idea, Luigi! Plus I bet she'd be surprised to see us, don't-a you think?" Mario replied. Luigi rolled his eyes.

"Oh brother, how pathetic can-a you get? It's so obvious you're hot for her, but is today REALLY the day to act on that, Mario?! Have some tact, bro." Luigi chastised Mario, who nodded, his face surprisingly red.

"That's fair. You're right, Luigi." Mario replied, as there was a knock on the door. Mario and Luigi exchanged confused glances.

"Were we expecting company, Luigi?" Mario asked Luigi. Luigi shook his head.

"Not that I know of. I suppose I should answer the door though." Luigi replied, going to the door and opening it, blinking it as he saw two star-like creatures standing there when he opened the door.

"Umm, hello? Do we know you?" Luigi asked the creatures. The red creature giggled.

"You don't, but if you're who we think you are, your brother should've heard of our species, the Lumas. But it's not him we're here for. Are you Luigi?" The red creature asked Luigi, making him frown.

"Lumas? Wait...did Rosalina send you? And yes, to your question, I am Luigi." Luigi replied after a brief pause. Mario came to the door hearing the name Rosalina.

"Mamma mia, what're a pair of Lumas doing at our front door?" Mario asked the two Lumas.

"Pardon the interruption, sirs. I'm Lumtan, and my sister there is Lumaria. We saw from observing the Mushroom Kingdom from our Mama's ship that you're getting ready to celebrate a holiday called Mother's Day? If that's the case, we thought we'd see if Luigi there might be willing to help us surprise our Mama for the occasion by helping us make a card or a letter for her. We'd do it, but as you can see we don't exactly have arms." Lumtan said as he introduced himself and Lumaria to the Mario Brothers. Mario blinked.

"That's-a right, I forgot you guys call Rosalina 'Mama'! Umm, we were actually getting ready to go check on Peach, but I suppose I can go do that on my own if Luigi wants to help you guys, but that's-a his choice. You wanna help them, Luigi?" Mario asked Luigi, who shrugged.

"Eh, I don't-a see why not. Come on in, Lumtan and Lumaria. You can tell me what you want the card and/or letter, whichever you want, to say and I'll put it for you. Let's surprise your Mama." Luigi told the two Lumas who gave him grateful looks.

"YAY! Thank you, Mr. Luigi!" Lumaria said happily, hugging Luigi (or as close as a Luma can get to hugging someone) as she and Lumtan went in, while Mario went to the castle to see Peach.

(Meanwhile, at the castle with Hot T. and Lumelia)

"So this is the castle? Looks really fancy. Yet also really pretty." Lumelia said, looking around in awe as Hot T. led her into the castle.

"That is correct, little one. This is my castle. I take it you came here to see me?" Peach's voice could be heard asking from behind Lumelia and Hot T., both of whom whipped around to face Peach, not realizing they'd walked into the throne room when entering the castle. Lumelia quickly but humbly bowed to Peach when she realized she was there.

"Yes, Your Majesty. My apologies for not immediately bowing. My name is Lumelia, and I came to humbly request that you help me and my siblings surprise our Mama for Mother's Day, since we saw when observing you from up in our home that you were preparing to celebrate such a holiday, and we know our Mama has few if any good memories of it. So we were hoping you could perhaps help us to give her some positive memories, if only by recommending a good place to buy pre-made meals so we can maybe surprise her with a meal, or something. Of course, if you have better suggestions for how to surprise her, I'm open to input, Your Majesty." Lumelia said humbly as she remained bowing, not looking up at Peach until after she finished speaking just so Peach knew she was speaking to her. Peach giggled.

"Aw, how sweet! You and your siblings are such good kids!" Peach said smiling before she blinked as she looked at Lumelia and gasped.

"Wait a minute. Aren't you a Luma? Isn't your mother Rosalina?" Peach asked Lumelia, her eyes going wide as her hands flew over her mouth to cover the gasp she gave off.

"That's right. Do you know our Mama?" Lumelia asked. Peach nodded, before frowning.

"Wait, we? I only see one of you?" Peach said. Lumelia nodded before looking up at Peach.

"I came with my brother Lumtan and my sister Lumaria, but they went off to enlist Luigi's help with another part of our planned surprise for Mama." Lumelia explained to Peach.

"I see. You can call me Peach, you know. I don't expect you to stand on ceremony if you're Rosalina's kid." Peach told Lumelia with a smile, as Lumelia nodded.

"As you wish, Your Hig-err I mean Peach." Lumelia replied. Peach then smiled.

"You know, rather than send you to buy baked goods, I can do one better. How about I have a lovely feast prepared for your Mama here in the castle? Truth be told, I find her to be an amazing person so I don't mind doing something nice for her if it'll make her feel better about Mother's Day. How's that sound?" Peach asked. Lumelia giggled as she saw the faint hint of pink on Peach's cheeks as she spoke.

"That sounds great, Peach. But umm, do you have a crush on my Mama? I saw that blush." Lumelia innocently asked Peach making her get embarrassed.

"Hmm? Umm, I honestly don't know. I know for the longest time I've been in love with Mario, but I don't think he likes me the way I like him. But that's not what we're talking about. We were talking about how we can surprise your Mama for Mother's Day. I'm thinking a good start could be having you either buy or make a gift for her. But I'm guessing your siblings are taking care of that already?" Peach asked Lumelia who nodded. Before she could say much, Toadsworth walked into the throne room.

"Begging Your Majesty's pardon, but there's a Mario here to see you. Shall I tell him to come back later as you appear to be busy?" Toadsworth asked Peach who smiled at hearing Mario was here, as she actually had things she wanted to discuss with him. She shook her head in the negative.

"That won't be necessary, Toadsworth. Bring him to me. I wish to speak with him." Peach said as Toadsworth bowed.

"Of course, as you command, Princess." Toadsworth said as he left the room. Peach then turned to Lumelia.

"I'm sorry but when Mario comes in can I ask you to wait outside with Toadsworth? I need to have a quick conversation with Mario alone then I'll get him to help us surprise your Mama, ok Lumelia?" Peach asked Lumelia who nodded.

"As you wish, Peach." Lumelia replied. Right after she said that, Mario waked in and Lumelia walked out to hang with Toadsworth, Hot T. having silently excused himself during the conversation, feeling as though he'd served his purpose. After this, Peach smiled at Mario.

"Mario! I'm so glad you came. I was hoping to talk to you about some things." Peach said to Mario who nodded.

"How interesting, I wanted to talk to you as well. How are you today?" Mario asked Peach, sitting next to her, noticing that her cheeks turned pink as he did so.

"I'm doing pretty well, all things considered. And you?" Peach replied, looking at Mario, letting herself look into his eyes.

"I'm-a good, thanks for asking Princess. I had come to make sure you were holding up well since I know this is usually a rough time of year for you. I know I don't say it much, but I do care about you a lot, Peach." Mario admitted to Peach, looking down as his cheeks turned red at his admission. Peach smiled.

"Truth be told Mario, I like you too. But I actually wonder if we both actually love each other, or if we're confusing sibling-type love for romantic love? To that end, I propose we kiss to see if we actually have crushes on each other like we think we do." Peach said to Mario who blushed but nodded. The two then leaned in, letting their lips meet briefly, both their faces glowing scarlet as they did so, but it was quickly clear it was out of embarrassment rather than genuine affection. After a bit, the two pulled apart. Mario frowned as he fixed Peach with a confused look.

"Huh. That's odd. That kiss was-a so nice, but yet I didn't feel nearly what I thought I would during it. Maybe you're right, and we just see each other as siblings and not as love interests like we'd thought. How embarrassing if so." Mario said nervously, and Peach giggled in agreement.

"I agree. But it would explain why we never really felt the pull to act on our feelings this whole time. We subconsciously knew we didn't like each other in a romantic way. But I think that's because we haven't found the ones for us yet. Thanks for letting me test that theory, Mario. Out of curiousity, did a pair of Lumas drop by your house recently?" Peach asked Mario, who blinked but nodded.

"Actually, yeah. Two Lumas named Lumtan and Lumaria showed up and asked Luigi to help them make a gift to surprise their Mama for Mother's Day, which I'm guessing means Rosalina. Why do you ask?" Mario said to Peach, who laughed.

"Because their sister Lumelia came here to ask me for my assistance as well. I of course agreed to help her. I was hoping maybe we could enlist your assistance as well, mainly in the case these Lumas need an escort both back home and possibly back here if they get Rosalina to follow them back for the rest of the surprise. Can you do that?" Peach asked Mario, who smiled.

"Of course, Peach. They're-a good kids, so of course I'm willing to help out however I can." Mario replied. Peach smiled back at Mario.

"I was hoping you'd say that. Lumelia, you can come back in now!" Peach called out to the door, which opened up to show Lumelia walking back in, seeing Mario with Peach.

"I take it you're then?" Lumelia asked Mario politely as she came back into the throne room.

"That's-a right, little one. I'm Mario. Nice to meet you. I take it you're Lumtan and Lumaria's sister?" Mario asked Lumelia who nodded.

"That's correct, mister. I'm Lumeria the Luma. Nice to meet you too, Mario." Lumeria replied. Peach giggled.

"Aww look how cute, you're embarrassed!" Peach teased Lumeria whose cheeks were actually pink with embarrassment at Mario speaking to her. (And yes it IS noticable. Lumeria is violet after all so pink would visibly show up on her skin tone)

"Don't tease me, Princess. That's not nice. I'm just shocked Mario would notice a Luma like me. Most people just see us as Rosalina's children." Lumeria said sheepishly.

"Yes well, considering what your lot in life is, maybe that's why people don't usually notice you at first, little one. But in actuality, you kids are very much special." Mario told Lumeria, smiling at her as he gave her a pat on what he figured amounted to her shoulder. Peach then changed the subject.

"Anyways, so while Lumeria and I get Toadsworth and the other Toads to prepare a glorious meal for Rosalina, you can have Luigi help you take Lumtan and Lumaria back home to give their card to Rosalina and give her this invitation from me." Peach said, producing a hand-written invitation she'd clearly made beforehand, prompting both Mario and Lumeria to give her identical looks of confusion. Peach gave them a sheepish look in response to their confused expressions.

"Uhh, I may have planned on surprising her already ahead of time. But this is just more reason to do so." Peach explained to Mario and Lumelia who nodded. As the former left to go back home and relay the plan to Luigi and the other Lumas, the latter stayed with Peach as they went to go relay their request to Toadsworth and the Toads.

(Back on the Comet Observatory)

"Hmm, they've been gone awhile. I wonder if they had any luck?" Lumoshi asked Lumella, who shrugged.

"No clue. I mean, I saw Lumtan and Lumaria successfully enlisting Luigi, but I have no idea if Lumeria had the same luck with the Princess?" Lumella said uncertainly to Lumoshi. As they continued talking, neither of them even noticed the figure standing just outside of their location listening in.

'So my children are up to something, are they? Should I be worried?' The figure thought to herself before walking off to go read in the Library. Unbeknownst to her, she was about to receive several very pleasant surprises on this day.

Meanwhile, after the figure left, the sounds of a returning Launch Star could be heard, as Lumaria and Lumtan landed back in the Observatory, Mario in tow per Peach's request, her invitation in his front pocket so he wouldn't forget it. Lumoshi and Lumella saw the two returnees, then saw Mario and blinked.

"Mario? I didn't know you were coming?" Lumella asked Mario who smiled at Lumella.

"I wasn't planning on it originally but Peach asked me to escort these two little ones back here, as well as to deliver something to your Mama. Is she awake or at least here?" Mario asked Lumoshi and Lumella, who shrugged.

"Not sure, Mario. Maybe." Lumella replied, as another, much larger Luma approached the group, smiling as they looked at Mario.

"Hey, if it isn't the Captain! Long time no see, eh Mario?" The Luma said to Mario, making him smile as he turned to the speaker.

"Hello, Lubba. It HAS been awhile. What brings you here?" Mario said to the now named Lubba who smiled.

"I heard you were looking for Mama Rosalina. If so, I saw her head to the Library." Lubba told Mario who nodded.

"Thank you, Lubba. Shall we, little ones?" Mario asked Lumaria and Lumtan who nodded, though Lumella voiced a question.

"Wait, why isn't Lumelia with you guys?" Lumella asked. Mario smiled.

"She's back in the Mushroom Kingdom helping prepare the other half of the surprise that we prepared for your Mama." Mario explained to Lumella who nodded.

"I see. Sounds good to me." Lumella replied as she and Lamoshi went back to waiting for Lumelia to return as Mario led Lumtan and Lumaria towards the Library.

(Inside the Library)

"Why did you have to leave me so soon, Mom?" The figure from before said as she looked through a picture book that was open on her lap, sighing as she stopped on a picture of a woman who looked very similar to her albeit an older version of her. She was so engrossed in her thoughts she didn't initially hear the Library door open. It was only after she heard someone speak that she realized she wasn't alone.

"Hello-a there, Rosalina! Is this a bad time?" Mario asked the now named Rosalina, who turned to face Mario with a smile.

"Mario! No, it's fine. I was just reflecting on some rough memories is all." Rosalina replied. Mario saw the picture and nodded.

"That's your mother, isn't it? It makes sense that you'd miss her being as this is Mother's Day and all." Mario said to Rosalina with a smile.

"Yeah, well, who expects to outlive their mother?" Rosalina said with a sigh. Lumtan and Lumaria saw the sad expression on Rosalina's face before the former smiled as he gently tugged Rosalina's sleeve to get her attention. Rosalina blinked as she looked down and saw Lumtan.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know you and Lumaria were here. Did you two need something?" Rosalina asked. Lumtan shyly pulled out the card he and Lumaria had helped Luigi make and offering it to her.

"Lumaria and I made this for you, with Luigi's help. Happy Mother's Day!" Lumtan said as Rosalina gasped, taking the card from him and looking at it. On the front was a well-drawn portrait of Rosalina herself surrounded by Lumas with the caption 'Happy Mother's Day, Mama!', and on the inside was signatures from Luigi and surprisingly Mario. But also written in elegant looking handwriting were the words 'Mama, we know this time of year is rough for you, but hopefully you realize that you have all of us here for you and thinking of you on this special day. Hopefully in time you'll be able to have happy memories of this day and not just sad ones. Love you much. -Lumaria, Lumtan, and all your Luma children,' prompting Rosalina to gasp, this time in shock, as tears came to her eyes before she hugged the two Lumas to her lovingly.

"Aww, this is so sweet you guys. Thank you so much for thinking of me." Rosalina said as she smiled at the two Lumas. She then turned to Mario.

"And thank you as well Mario. I know you helped them put this together. Thank you all so much. I didn't realize you all were thinking of me this much." Rosalina said with a wide smile. Lumaria spoke up at that point.

"And that's not even the whole surprise. There's another part to it, back in the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario, give her the invitation." Lumaria said as Mario pulled the invitation out of his pocket and handed it to Rosalina. Rosalina looked at it. It read:

'You are cordially invited to a special Mother's Day feast at Princess Peach's castle. Show this invitation to the guards at the door to gain admittance. Hoping to see you there,' and below that was another note, written in even more elegant script than that used on the card that the Lumas and Mario Brothers made her. It read:

'Rosalina, if you got this invitation, I hope you accept. I know you don't have a lot of fond memories of this day, but I think if given the chance, maybe I can help to fix that for you. After all, they say the best way to have fond memories is to find the right person to share them with. Even if said person is the last person you'd expect it to be. ;) Hoping to see you at the party. And if you come, be sure to dress nice since it's gonna be a bit of a fancy party. But it won't be the same without you there. I hope to see you there. -Love, Peach.' The note read, making Rosalina gasp at how sincere the note sounded, before feeling her cheeks go red at the 'Love, Peach.' at the end of the note. Rosalina smiled as she looked at Mario and the Lumas.

"I'd be delighted to attend this party. Let me get dressed and gather the rest of the Lumas and we can go." Rosalina said before leaving the Library to go get changed for the party. Mario and the two Lumas high-fived.

"We did it, little ones! Now it's up to Peach to keep that smile on Rosalina's face. Shall we go tell the other Lumas what to expect?" Mario said to Lumtan and Lumaria, who nodded as they went to gather the other Lumas.

(Meanwhile, back at Princess Peach's castle with Peach and Lumeria)

"Wow, Peach, you have a lot of personal chefs, don't you? I'm surprised you're as kind and generous as you are. I honestly half-thought you might be one of those stuck-up, snobby rich people before I met you. Sorry for judging you." Lumeria said to Peach sheepishly. Peach giggled.

"That's okay, Lumeria. I can see how you'd think that. Now hopefully Mario and your siblings did their part right and your Mama decides to come otherwise this whole spread is gonna end up going totally to waste." Peach said as Lumeria giggled.

"I don't think Mama will refuse to come once she sees the card. I feel like Lumtan and Lumaria did that good of a job on that card with Luigi's help." Lumeria said to Peach who nodded. After that they talked about a bunch of random topics while the feast was being set and prepared, and seemingly in no time it was ready, as Toadsworth approached Peach.

"Your Majesty, announcing the arrival of Princess Rosalina, Queen of the Cosmos, as well as that of Master Mario, Master Luigi and a bunch of Lumas." Toadsworth said as Peach nodded.

"Show them into the dining room and let them be seated." Peach said to Toadsworth who bowed as he went to get the guests and escort them into the dining room. A few short moments later, Mario and Luigi walked into the dining room, followed by what must have been at least two to three dozen Luma kids. And finally, bringing up the rear, Rosalina walked in, a shy smile on her face as she looked around, her eyes locking onto Peach who had put on a slimmer pink dress than she usually wore, the dress being very formfitting. Speaking of which, Rosalina also had a different dress on, a sleek jet-black dress that hugged her slender body, showing off her curves nicely. If anyone noticed Rosalina and Peach seemingly looking at each other with longing, nothing was said. After everyone was seated (oddly enough Peach was at the head of the table, Mario at her left and Rosalina at her right), Peach spoke.

"Thank you all for coming. I know most of us don't have the greatest memories of Mother's Day. But I think this lovely gathering can help us to at least have some positive memories. So I invite you all to eat, drink and be merry. So please, enjoy this spread I've had prepared. Toads, bring it in!" Peach called, clapping her hands as a horde of Toads walked in, some supporting the food, and three of them lifting a plate on which was a massive sea-blue and white cake with Star Bits on the top. Rosalina gasped at the cake.

"Did you have this made with me in mind?" Rosalina asked Peach, who smiled and nodded.

"Of course I did, Rosalina. You're a special person. You deserve to at least have SOME happy memories of this day. I know it's not been the best time for you in the past, but my hope is that you can come to terms with that and be able to enjoy this day." Peach told Rosalina who smiled shyly and nodded, blushing in embarrassment at Peach's kind words. Near her, Lumaria quietly giggled as she poked Lumtan to get his attention as he was next to her.

"She won't admit it, but Mama totally loves Peach." Lumaria said to Lumtan quietly so only they would hear. Needless to say, Luigi heard, but he just ignored it. After a long and merry feast in which everyone enjoyed themselves, Peach clapped her hands again and the Toads took the food away. After that, Peach smiled.

"Who wants to adjourn to the dance floor for some dancing?" Peach asked the assembled guests, all of whom cheered. In no time, the guests were all in the ballroom, mostly dancing around and having fun. Rosalina however was smiling as she sat in the corner, watching everyone dance. She therefore gave a start when she felt a hand on her shoulder. Rosalina looked up to see Peach smiling down at her.

"You mind if I sit here?" Peach asked Rosalina who smiled, blushing as she shook her head to signal it was fine and Peach sat with her.

"Are you not happy right now?" Peach asked Rosalina, smiling at her as she gently set her hand on Rosalina's, giggling at the tinges of pinks on Rosalina's cheeks.

"N-no, I'm quite content. I'm just not much of a dancer is all." Rosalina replied. Peach smiled widely, an idea coming to her.

"I see. How about you and I adjourn to the balcony on the upper floor by my bedroom and we can look out at the moon from there? I do know you enjoy that as I recall. Would you enjoy that more, perhaps?" Peach suggested to Rosalina, who turned, looking right into Peach's eyes and smiling.

"Yes, I think I'd quite like that. Shall we go, Peach?" Rosalina asked, shyly smiling at Peach as she gazed into Peach's blue eyes. Peach nodded, and the two headed up towards Peach's balcony that was off of her bedroom, both sitting next to one another on the balcony as they looked up at the moon, smiling as they held hands almost without thinking about it. After awhile of quiet observing of the Moon, Peach smiled slyly and spoke.

"Isn't this view just beautiful tonight?" Peach asked Rosalina, winking at her as she spoke. Rosalina blushed prettily as she realized what Peach was insinuating.

"Yeah, she is. I-I mean IT is, not she is." Rosalina said, turning even redder in embarrassment as she misspoke. Peach smiled at Rosalina as she let her gently rubbed the hand holding hers comfortingly, smiling at Rosalina when she glanced her way questioningly.

"It's okay, Rosalina. I don't mind that you called me beautiful. I think you're beautiful too, you know." Peach said to Rosalina who looked down shyly, her cheeks burning at Peach's words.

"Y-you think I'm beautiful? You do realize we're both women, right?" Rosalina asked, suddenly nervous at the attention that Peach was giving her.

"I realize that, Rosalina. But you know something?" Peach asked Rosalina, leaning in close as she gazed into Rosalina's eyes. Rosalina blinked as she blushed prettily.

"What's that, Peach?" Rosalina asked, suddenly very anxious as she felt her heart racing as Peach leaned in closer. Peach smiled, stroking Rosalina's hand encouragingly to relax her a bit. Rosalina smiled as she relaxed a bit.

"I don't care if we're both women, Rosalina. I really don't. You're still beautiful to me." Peach said, before shocking both Rosalina and herself by daring to lean in and brush her lips against Rosalina's as she kissed her tenderly, looking into her eyes lovingly as they kissed. For her part, Rosalina was initially shocked before just blushing prettily and returning the kiss as she let herself wrap her arms around Peach happily.

"I'll confess I didn't see that coming, but it's actually quite amazing. You're an incredible kisser, Peach. Does this mean you have a crush on me?" Rosalina shyly asked Peach. Peach smiled, pulling Rosalina in close as she sat in Rosalina's lap, smiling up at her.

"Yes, Rosalina. I have a crush on you. I'll admit I didn't realize it at first, but I think it was after you helped save me that last time that I started to realize I was falling for you, but I never said anything, fearing that you didn't feel the same, and also being confused by what I thought were romantic feelings for Mario. However, it was only recently that he and I realized we only loved each other as brother and sister, and that it was in fact YOU I cared deeply for. I know this is probably the last point you'd expect something like this, but why not? Will you be my girlfriend, Rosalina?" Peach asked Rosalina shyly, playfully nuzzling her face into Rosalina's neck affectionately as she asked, making Rosalina turn even redder before smiling down at Peach.

"You know what? It's probably an impulse but why the heck not? Yes Peach, I'll be your girlfriend." Rosalina said, smiling as she kissed Peach again, smiling as Peach nuzzled herself into her chest, gently stroking her hair as the two new lovers looked up at the moonlight. After a bit, Peach looked up at the sky, smiling as she gently poked Rosalina's shoulder to get her attention, pointing upward to where both saw the words 'HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, ROSALINA!' written in fireworks, bringing a dreamily contented smile to Rosalina's face as she kissed Peach once more. Afterward, Peach relaxed into Rosalina's chest, as she stroked Peach's hair, sighing contentedly with Peach, both clearly thinking the same thing.

Best Mother's Day, ever! I hope this night never ends...

End of Story

A/N: And there we have another one-shot done and dusted! I know, I know, I kinda lampooned the Mother's Day-centric focus just a tad with that RosaPeach fluff in the tail end of things, but egh I couldn't resist throwing it in there because it was so adorably fluffy unlike the other RosaPeach oneshot I did. But at the same time, there was a good amount of Mother's Day focus too in the form of the Lumas and their plan to make a big Mother's Day surprise (in which context the RosaPeach parts can be seen as extension of that surprise courtesy of Peach). So yeah, that said HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to any mothers who happen to be reading this (and if anyone's timezone is past midnight then happy BELATED Mother's Day to you!) Now for sure next update should be Shuffled Journeys! Speaking of Shuffled Journeys, at the time of this A/N being typed (it's currently 6:10 PM at night on Sunday, May 8th as I type this part of the A/N) there's currently a bit under 48 hours left on the current poll before it closes, and it's still 3-2-2-1-1-1-0-0 as of this point. So you have time if you want to cast your votes. The poll's up on my profile if you want to view and vote on it. So get to it! You can vote for up to 3 girls (since the top 3 vote getters will make the harem for Shuffled Journeys), so get your votes in while you still can! And until next update, sithlorde1988 out!

Notes

*1*- Given that the place is called the Comet Observatory, what else would it be but a spacecraft of some kind?

*2*- This is actually mentioned in I think both Sunshine and I think possibly a later game too?, but Bowser Jr. is led to believe that Peach is his mother by Bowser, though this is later debunked in canon. So I was making a nod to that plot point there.

*3*- If the descriptions don't already make it obvious, I'm using the layout of the Mushroom Kingdom as shown in Paper Mario 64 because that was the most fleshed-out and in-depth that the Mushroom Kingdom (and by proxy Peach's Castle) were ever made so it made sense to use those descriptions. Feel free to correct me (either in a review or via PM) if I'm wrong though.

*4*- Oddly enough, a lot of characters (pretty much EVERY character aside from the Lumas and Rosalina) doesn't have an established canon mother as far as I'm aware so that made using this category tricky but I couldn't resist using Rosalina and the Lumas for an adorable Mother's Day one-shot.
