Chapter 1
From Skeletor to Keldor
Snake mountain*
Skeletor sat on his newly constructed throne in the reinstituted Snake mountain after the events of Serpos attacking Castle Grayskull, contemplating. Which was actually a rare occurrence, ever since he had become Skeletor sacrificing his own self to Hordak so he could live, for he didn't want whatever he believed to perish when he could still do so much more, still seek the revenge against those who wronged him and most importantly his birthright to rule. He had been close to Randor during their childhood surprisingly, but had always believed that few senile old people didn't have the right to decide the fate of an entire planet when he could do it better especially since they held unimaginable power and who was to say people believed blindly what they said was because of the respect they commanded and not the fear, there was a fine line between the two. And he was better at the latter, better than those old fools called Council of the Elders.
And now he used the same fear just to spite the so called Elders in trying to get what he wanted and also relished in that feeling there was almost no boundaries and no rules in this path, he could do anything to reach the goal he wanted. But why hasn't he gotten anywhere till now with this path of evil and destruction he had chosen?
Well, the answer disturbed him more than he wanted to believe, after the said events of being granted life by Hordak he hadn't been able to be himself 'Keldor' though he accepted the mantle of Skeletor willingly, he was rarely clear minded and wholly consumed by the hate, contempt and desperation he had experienced at that time.
Even when trying to sacrifice Evil-lyn, he had wanted to stop, but he couldn't. Maybe it was the side effects of the perverse and twisted magic of Hordak or that the evil reincarnate himself had purposely left his mind in shambles with thoughts of extreme hatred and anger so he could be of use to Hordak that way, the thought sent a shiver down his spine. Shaking his head he realized it was this meaningless volatile emotions and unstable mind has rendered him useless in achieving his goals of conquering Eternia to be the rightful ruler which he believed from long before and which has started this journey of his, now always resulting in brash and desperate decision making with poor utilization of his minions and his own skills, whats more it has been getting harder and harder each day to be rational to move towards his goals and more and more narrow minded impulse to just barging into Grayskull or blasting everything in sight to pieces. It rarely happened that the haze cleared and Keldor would resurface like now from the swirling tornado of negative emotions that was Skeletor.
He remembered the time he took the Legend stone but left the other one with Beast man, that blasted thing had the intelligence of a five year old and it was stupid of him to leave behind the stone which He-man acquired and then his mind and heart relishing in power which led in He-man out smarting him or the similar case with Emrosia where he neglected sufficient research about the cursed substance which only worked on those disgusting insects, oh and not to forget when he dismissed Tri-klopse's duplicating skeletral army at his initial failure, He had been so angry on him for not providing what he wanted and when he wanted that he couldn't think straight. The list goes on and on.
But all that was going to change now, because the injustices done to him since his childhood for being the so called 'basterd' of the Reverend Captain Miro had made him unyielding and ambitious and he had persisted even after losing his face and his half brother declared first ever King of Eternia. Now wouldn't be any different, he had been working, piecing together bits and pieces of different magics and artifacts whenever Keldor emerged and now with the discovery of the ancient glyphs and recordings of the snake men in this new Snake mountain's restored corridors and dungeons with in it was restored some of the old forgotten knowledge, this was what he had been missing all along to get his mind and soul from the clutches of vile Hordak without giving up his power or life, just a matter of time now until he decoded the ancient knowledge of the snake men, then Keldor will rule with the deception of the mask that would be Skeletor..."Hahahhahaahahaa!"
"Losing your mind again Skeletor." Came the amused voice of Evil-lyn, Hate like never before at her betrayal more than once remerged in his mind lifting his havoc staff with glowing eyes he wanted to end this good for nothing witch once and for all.
Evil-lyn stopped abruptly in her steps thinking she should have kept her mouth shut at his mood swings she waited for what was to come. With sheer self control Skeletor lowered his staff aimed at her chest near her feet and blasted a yellow ray which exploded near her feet and sent her flying few feet backwards as she slammed onto the ground groaning at the pain the shock wave caused.
Walking down from his throne he spoke to her. "Be glad witch, I let you stay here because we both know you have nowhere to go or hide, so know your place and don't forget how you were hanging to be sacrificed begging me to stop, next time you open that vile mouth of yours like that the explosion would be on your face."
Evil-lyn's eyes widened not because of the threat but because there was an eerie calmness to his tone and demeanor which he rarely ever showcased and over the years she had learned to distance herself from him whenever he behaved with these unnerved episodes of his, like a silent predator waiting for his prey patiently rather than an overpowered sociopath throwing temper tantrums but in recent days these unusual occurrences were nearly nonexistent, cursing her timing and luck she collected her thoughts, lowered her head and said. "Yes Skeletor, I understand and it won't happen again."
Before Skeletor could answer her Trap Jaw came running through one of the archways connecting the throne room shouting about how Clawful got lost in the many new pathways and corridors of the Snake mountain and couldn't be found earning him a blast from Skeletor's havoc staff which nearly missed his head, cursing he then saw Evil-lyn on the ground head lowered and he too cursed his luck for his timing, because no matter what Evil-lyn was the one who got least of Skeletor's anger and also got away with talking back to him and if she was on the ground then things were really, really bad.Trying to salvage the situation Trap Jaw stuttered. "Ah...I got lost, no I mean Clawful..."
Sagging his shoulders he resigned himself to his fate and said. "Um... Sorry Skeletor." And flinched as Skeletor stabbed his staff on the ground in frustration but luckily no blast of magic came his way, only Skeletor's irritated nasal voice. " Idiots... I have idiots for henchmen...utter fools!" Evil-lyn saw the change in Skeletor's voice and demeanor and let out a breath of relief.
Skeletor turned to Evil-lyn and said to her. "Make yourself useful Evil-lyn and go try to remove the seals from those magically sealed doors in the new wings of Snake mountain." Nodding she got up saying, "Yes Skeletor as you wish." Then hastily made a retreat, Skeletor turned around to go to his throne then looked at Trap Jaw and asked. "Why are you here again?", suddenly having attention back on him again Trap Jaw nervously blurted out. "Oh...that... corridors... Clawful." Skeletor's hallowed eyes glowed red, Trap Jaw slowly backed away saying, "Never mind, I am going to find him now." Then ran away before something unfortunate happened.
Thank you for reading and reviews are always welcome.
I have always believed Skeletor had much potential. In joker's words "Eternia needs a better class of criminals and I'm gonna give it to E'm.
