CHAPTER 20: Epilogue

Drew and I finally get the big wedding of our dreams, but much later than we'd planned.

Uncle Davian may have gone out of the kingdom for a conference but hasn't been seen since he left the kingdom that hosted it. His plane and the crew in it have disappeared as well, so many people suspect that they've been a victim of a plane crash. But that's hard to prove or disprove since—you know—no bodies nor wreckage have been recovered.

Still, Isle Kingdom needs a monarch. The first choice finally comes to me because of how I've proven myself, but I've abdicated and handed the crown over to Max instead. He will be the new ruler of Isle Kingdom so that there will be no threat to who he marries. So, right when his coronation ends, he announces his marriage to Adeline, and they marry in front of people and cameras everywhere. Drew and I enjoy the reception, though the other guests annoy us at times with their wary stares and business propositions.

I may not rule over Isle like I've wanted since I was young, but I'm trading that power for a higher one. Instead of reigning over one kingdom, I'll reign over all kingdoms. There's something Drew has been hiding from me since the beginning of our relationship—many things, actually—but we'll deal with that later.

First, I've got to kill my fucking uncle.

Three months after our mock wedding, we finally have our real one tonight in Casur Hotel—the same venue of our first date—and marry in the same observation deck so Laire can watch from below. The reception is filled with congratulations and business opportunities, but it's the honeymoon Drew and I are after. We've got a big trip to Evia—a bright tropical paradise I've fantasized about visiting since finding pictures of it on social media—tomorrow. We'll be going on his private jet or private ship. Drew is giving me the choice since it will be my first time traveling long-distance with both.

More importantly, we're also going to "talk" to Uncle Davian, who ends up not missing after all. After flying away from his conference, Drew has his guards take down his plane, get rid of the physical evidence of its existence, and kill everyone but Uncle Davian. Drew has figured out way before I have that Uncle is involved with Brendan's death and has been keeping Uncle in a warehouse until it's time to bring me to him.

I had been so angry at Drew at first for keeping my uncle from me. Then, I realize why he has. Drew has seen how overwhelmed I've been, well, all of my life. Now that Max and his family are safe, the kingdom's people are getting better educated, and I'm formally married to the love of my life, I can now focus on the enemy I've had since the beginning.

But I can't take all the credit. All the stuff I've accomplished has been done in months instead of years because of Drew. He's been supportive of me from the very beginning, and he's still supporting me now, as we're heading to Uncle Davian. I don't think I can ever repay him for his love, but I'll spend every day trying.

We hold hands exiting the reception in Drew's tuxedo and my wedding dress and get in Drew's car. Drew hands me a blindfold, but I wave it off.

"We're married now, remember?" I remind him. "That means no more secrets. If you have warehouses you conduct business in, I'd like to know where they are."

"Why do you say that, love?" Drew ignites the engine. "Plan on using them yourself?"

"No…I just…don't want secrets between us."

"Sure, love. Well, let me know if you want warehouse locations, and I'll give them to you. I'll even help you with the affairs you have in them. As for this one, are you sure you don't want to change before doing this?"

"You can change if you want, but make it quick. I don't want to wait for another second to confront this fucker. Not only did he kill my ex-boyfriend, but he also killed my child before it was even born and made me think it was my fault. I never got to find out if it was a boy or a girl!"

"You're right; that bastard has delayed the consequences of his actions long enough. Let's go."

It's one o'clock in the morning according to the car's dashboard, but we're wide awake. Neither of us is going to sleep until Uncle Davian is dead.

"Are you ready, love?"

"Ready."

I pull Drew in for a kiss, which we hold for a sweet minute. Then Drew presses the gas pedal. The car maneuvers out of the garage, and we drive away.
