Chapter 4

To be a friend when needed

Zodac's Adobe*

Adam had became an 5 year old again, sitting cross-legged on the wooden floor where the Mystic warrior always meditated while floating, he brought the power sword to his back and sheathed it like always but this time it disappeared like the sheath and the sword did not exist. He touched his back a few times only to find the cloth of his vest, but when he consciously reached for the sword with the thought of him needing it the hilt appeared in his grasp. He might have been repeating the process for ages with a delighted expression for all he cared, Zodac watched him with a blank expression a few feet away. When Adam noticed Zodac he gave him a lopsided grin and said to him. "Look Zodac,I learned the trick finally." then he proceeded to repeat the process for the thousandth time today to show Zodac with an overly excited expression but when he looked back at Zodac again after making the sword disappear with an raised eyebrow and arms folded, Adam became embarrassed and rubbed the back of head looking down like he always did in times like this. "Yes, I see Prince." Said Zodac in a flat tone. Adam groaned. "Aww, but you gotta admit this is pretty awesome." the Mystic warrior silently turned around beckoned him to follow with his hands and walked out side into the icy winds, Adam rolled his eyes and followed out into the cold.

After a few hours of sparring with the Cosmic enforcer in the cold to learn how to control his body temperature as Adam. He draped a thick gray fur cloak over his usual attire and made his way back home. It had not been easy but he did have to improve himself.

Castle Grayskull*

The Sorceress watched Adam leave from the ice mountains after training with Zodac, she was worried about him a lot now a days his responsibilities were weighing him down making him sink into despair and depression though he hid his emotions well even from her if not for her telepathic powers she would also might have fooled him for a happy go lucky person. He was just like her in many ways, she had to sacrifice many things for the greater good even her sense of self and her beloved daughter, confined within these castle walls all alone. But Adam was just a kid who grew up in peace while she had nearly three centuries to come to terms with her solitude and maintain her emotions in a calm manner, it was really commendable of Adam to handle things that were thrown his way the way he did. But apparently it was still too much for him to take it without a hitch. She really cared about him as she has watched him grow up with her daughter Teela since birth, he was like a son to her. The Sorceress sighed, what had occurred nearly a year after he was born was entirely a different matter.

When Teela was born that had made her feel like an human again but that too had to change as she once again had to do what had to be done. Even now she wouldn't want Teela to go through even a little of how she has felt inside these walls but fate had other plans this time too. Ironic that how the Castle and the power of the Elders gave hope to all of Eternia and even beyond but the ones who served them to bring about the mentioned hope were often left in despair.

She gave a small laugh at how Adam had been trying to give hope to her too by trying to talk to her more often than not, most of it being silly ramblings. She had dismissed him for being immature with a stoic face everytime but deep down she was grateful for it. He had seen right through to the human inside her still alive which she didn't show to anyone to maintain the proprietary of her role as the Sorceress of Grayskull to better uphold her responsibility as such. But Adam was different he respected her wisdom and sacrifices while still trying to be a friend to her if he could help it.

When Teela had visited the Oracle to know the truth to her dismay, after regularly visiting the village where she saw the statue that looked like her, she had started investigating and searching which had led her to the Oracle. She had kept relation to Teela a secret not just because she could be used against her to gain access to Grayskull but also to spare her the burden of Grayskull's next Sorceress for as much time as possible.

After knowing she was Teela's mother and kept it from them all, she was ready to be questioned by Adam, But he didn't, instead he had conveyed silent support to her that he understood it has been the hardest decision of her life. No wonder he is the Chosen of the Grayskull. He had made her realize little by little that having friends and being human won't always come between her duty and that she too deserved it for all it's worth. Prompting her to do the same for him a few weeks ago while he sat near the pond brooding while the rebuilding of the Royal palace. That is to be a friend when needed.

And now she was tasked with another duty from the Elders and to her surprise it was to make Adam liberal in his use of powers of the Grayskull which has been checked and strictly monitored so far till now, so he wouldn't loose himself in that power but now this was to prepare him for what was to come and he might have to overstep the bounds placed on him to protect all of Eternia the Elders had said.

She sighed at the perplexity of the matter, bounds were placed on him in the form of strict moral code and sense of righteousness by them on him,so he wouldn't loose control wielding Grayskull's powers but now he might have to own up to that power and believe himself that he was capable of wielding it despite crossing the line of his moral junction without loosing his path.

After all, no Hero could always remain pure, despite being in the side of good. Fighting evil has always been dirty and ugly which stained every hero's heart, it was an horrible side which the bards left unsaid in their songs of praise and now she was afraid Adam needed to go through this to give Eternia a chance against whatever the Elders had predicted for the future. As much as she hate to put Adam through this there was nothing else she could do but to be there as a Friend and guide him through it. After all it was all of them who had instilled this Righteousness and Morality in him and now it might be demanded of him to strip all of those for the greater good. She prayed to the Elders that it wouldn't leave him broken.

Yes I know last chapter and this one are considerably smaller but I am trying to experiment and find out right length and to give a break to the plot for each chapter, because I keep on writing once I start and loose myself. Also thank you to the person who first reviewed my story. First review is always special! especially if it's given within 24 hours of uploading Your first story. 3
