Look at me, actually publishing good Yo-Kai Watch fanfic.

Just FYI, this, and my other fics, are part of an Au where B&E also have Yo-Kai Watches, and their companions are Roughraff and Tongus.

It was a fine Monday afternoon in Springdale; rather cloudy, but otherwise passable. The kids at Springdale Elementary were doing a math worksheet.

Bear leaned forward and tapped Eddie on the shoulder. "Hey, dude, do you know how to do Question 5?"

Eddie turned around, trembling a bit. "I really don't know," he mumbled in a hoarse voice.

Well, that was weird. Bear thought Eddie knew everything. He had the highest marks in the class, surely he knew how to do division. "You good, bro?"

Eddie turned back and waved him off. "'m fine," he mumbled. With a sniffle, he went back to his worksheet.

Bear cocked his head. This was very out of character for him! And now he's putting his head down instead of working?! What was going on?!

"Hey, dude," Nate said as he turned around and poked Eddie's head, "you're falling asleep."

"Uh! Ten!" Eddie jumped, before he realized what was going on.

"That's not even the answer to any of these," said Nate. "What's up with you?"

"Nothing," insisted Eddie. "I'm alright."

Bear wasn't even paying attention to his own work anymore. This was just too weird. There has to be some sort of explanation behind this…right?

"Edward?"

Oh thank god, Mr. Johnson was seeing how weird this was too. "You haven't been yourself all day. Maybe it's best if you go see the nurse."

"Alright." Eddie, without any emotion in his voice, got up and did exactly what Mr. Johnson suggested.

Bear looked around to make sure no one was looking, and turned down to whisper to Roughraff. "What's his deal?"

"How should I know, boyo? I wasn't payin' attention to anything that chump was sayin'." Roughraff continued to sit on the floor and shoot the breeze.

Eddie still hadn't come back when the bell rang to go home. He suspected he may have already been sent home. Which he should do; it was starting to rain.

Still, that was his little buddy. And fierce is the will of a bear whose little buddy needs him. So he went to the nurse's office. Inside, Eddie was laying on a cot, half-asleep, and now that he had a better look of him, he really did not seem good. He had gone pale in the face, except for some pink on his nose and across his cheeks.

Bear came in and helped him up. "Come on, let's get you home."

The nurse turned around and saw the two of them. "Make sure you tell his mother that he needs to be in bed for a little while. He's got an awful flu."

"Got it, nurse lady," said Bear, who hauled Eddie over his shoulder and braced himself for the rain.

And by "brace", we of course mean he went blitzing down the street as fast as possible, with Roughraff and Tongus raring behind them.

When he got back inside, he got Eddie upstairs to bed. Tongus was bustling around his ankles, asking questions a mile a minute. "Is he okay? Is he too warm? Too cold? Does he have a sore throat? Head?"

"Ey, cool it!" Roughraff shouted at her. "How d'you expect him to know all that crap?!"

"Oh, sorry," said Tongus, "I just get so worried about him!"

"The school nurse said we needed to keep him in bed," said Bear, bundling Eddie into the blankets.

Tongus jumped in to take over. "You get some sleep, and when your parents get home, tell your mom you're sick!"

Eddie didn't answer her. He was already completely out. Bear tousled his hair, and directed Roughraff to follow him out and go home.
