''Okay students, class dismissed.''

Wendy sighed in relief as she finally heard the school bell ringing and signaling that yet another class in which Mr. Garrison had spent a good chunk of time gratuitously rambling about his two supposed love interests came to a much needed end. She had honestly hoped that the now ex-president of the USA would also go along with the Opposite Day happening in school and do something contrary to what he usually would – do what he was supposed to as their teacher and actually teach something useful to his students.

The dark haired girl, as well as the rest of her class, just hadn't been in the mood to listen to their fourth grade teacher talking about how he didn't want to hurt Marcus' feelings, but somehow still preferred to have him in life because he was apparently much better at sucking him off than Rick ever could.

Fleetingly wanting to forget the unnecessary details of her teacher's love life, Wendy shut her notebook and neatly stacked it on top of her binder. She then walked out of the fourth grade classroom and headed straight for her locker to get books for her next class, only to remember that it was now recess time and that she would probably do something different than spend time with her girl friends - she was just glad that things took a turn for the better once Mr. Mackey had knocked some sense into PC Principal's thick skull and swapped the Pajama Day for the Opposite day, lifting the spirits of just about everyone in South Park Elementary.

Walking towards her locker and not really thinking that someone might be following her, a sudden tap on the shoulder startled Wendy and forced her to spin around on the spot to find out who was responsible for giving her a mini heart attack - only to see her boyfriend Stan Marsh standing right behind her with a gentle smile on his face, which in return made her heart skip about a dozen beats.

''Hey.'', he said as he scratched the back of his neck nervously, hoping that Wendy wasn't going to get too upset with the way he had managed to get her attention.

''Hey you.'', she responded, smiling at the raven haired boy as the two of them now walked down the hallway towards her locker.

''I've been looking for you.'', Stan admitted. ''You know, to talk about something related to this day and what we could do...'''

''Yeah, what is it?''

''Well, since it is the Opposite Day today, I was thinking that we could maybe throw the entire 'keeping our relationship still on the down low' shit out of the window today?''

''To be completely honest with you, I don't mind that idea at all, since the girls and boys seem to get along much better than they had after the whole internet troll shitshow and that a lot of couples did in fact get back together. Some of them frankly don't give a crap about the gender wars and keep their relationships public anyway.'', Wendy admitted as her lips upturned into a smile, being more than pleasantly surprised by her boyfriend's suggestion.

"So, does this mean you're okay with my plan?"

Deciding not to say anything and just let her actions speak her words instead, Wendy gently cupped Stan's cheek with her free hand and leaned in to capture her lips with his. She could feel her heart pounding against her ribcage as Stan immediately returned the romantic favor back, though she knew damn well that he probably did his best to stop his usual stream of vomit creeping up his gullet at the feeling of his girlfriend's lips against his.

They pulled apart after some time and rested their foreheads against each other's, with Stan being the first one to break the blissful silence. ''I missed this.''

''Ditto.'', Wendy replied as she intertwined their fingers tightly together. ''How about we now spend the recess together, hm?''

''I wouldn't mind that at all, actually.'', Stan replied, tugging on his beloved's hand and walking towards the school's playground with Wendy right in tow.

It's not that surprising that the first episode of season 25 inspired me to come up with this short fanfic immediately after watching it, lmao.

I really liked this episode for several different reasons:
- no Randy and Tegridy Farms in this episode (sans that really short bit during the pajama song)
- Wendy having a bigger role in this episode rather than her just being the usual background character she's been since season 20 was quite surprising to see!
- the running nazi Germany jokes and the bits with the TV reporter speaking German in an overly Americanized way definitely had me cackling, especially him dressed as a fucking Gestapo at the end of the episode

The main idea for this fanfic comes from my interpretation that the boys and girls working together in this episode is sort of a sign that the gender wars did finally die down, which means that Stan and Wendy don't really have to worry about keeping their relationship in secret anymore (in case you don't know what I'm talking about, I did two fix-it fanfics related to Stan and Wendy getting back together in secret during the gender wars and them having to keep their relationship private for some time: The Only Thing We Know and Under the Wraps).
