Author Note

This is a re-written DND adventure; that I created a long time ago. I have been wanting to make it into an HP fan-story. Since that is where it first originated as inspiration, and source material. I am looking for some (non-flaming (no pun intended)) comments/reviews of this before I go on a rampage with the rest of the story. Therefore, this is slightly short, and only covers the setup bit of the story.

This is not my main format to write in. I have written stories towards DND and Movie scripts mostly. I am curious if It's captivating to continue, or if I need to change something small, or big to awaken some interest in you as the reader.

For me; this is both educational and a fun experience to try; and I hope you enjoy my adventures as much as I enjoy getting lost in them.

"Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it."

Chapter 1

"Is this truly the right path?" Theo said, speaking quickly as he always did. He looked more suspicious than intended, as he looked to be talking to an old wanted poster of Sirius Black on the brick wall. The dim streetlight in the intersection, lit only him up from above, and shadows surrounded his circle of light he stood in. Rain had just started to prickle onto the stony pavement, and the roofs of the surrounding buildings delivered more water upon his dark brown cloak. The buildings were leaning over him nearly, covering the moonlight from reaching the dark streets. It was a good place to meet someone in secret.

"There are many paths you need to take, none of them might be the right." said a voice in an elderly but brisk tone. "Your road is as important as mine, but I might not be there in the end to meet you…" the voice paused, Theo know it was with a comforting smile, even he could not see it. The voice continued; "Where you followed?"

"Why do you-" A sound of metal hitting stone made Theo stop his words abruptly and turn his head. His wand, already in his hand, pointed towards the sound. A glimmer reflection of two narrow yellow eyes in the dark was all Theo could see. He loudly uttered "Lumos Maxima" in his usually quick spoken way. As a bright ball of light left the wand tip, and passed down the darkened and narrow alley way, the eyes did a quick jump off some garbage bins, and quickly transformed into a human shape.

"NOX" an elderly woman voice said in a determined way. Extinguishing the light ball; fading the light into her own wand as she walked hurried towards him. "Has not your grandfather taught you better, Mr. Ollivander?" She said, as she approached. Her tone was as she was merely correcting a young student.

Professor McGonagall whipped her wand back into her cloak, and looked behind her, as to assure she is not followed. "Forgive me professor" Theo quickly spoke; as when he was disciplined once for making a fellow student levitate. That was during his earlier time in Hogwarts, and one of many embarrassing memories. "I was not aware it was you" he spoke a bit nervously, looking down a moment to the stone bricked ground.

His shameful reaction dwindled shortly over to a smile, as he looked upon the face of Professor McGonagall. The dark clothed Minerva McGonagall stepped into the circle of dim light above. Her robe was black, her signature witch hat was not there, but in stead she was shrouded partly in a dark hood. She smiled back. "Now, now Mr. Ollivander, you are not a student anymore." she said, clapping Theo's shoulder lightly twice. It was a reminder of their motherly relationship through his rough years at Hogwarts.

"Is this the right place to meet?" she said, looking into the shadows. She passed by Theo; and as spoke in the shadows behind him. A shape slowly emerged into the dim light a moment later.

Dumbledore appeared out of the shadow, smiling trough his beard.. He was dressed in a darker greyed clothes than usual. His robe covering his hands. His hat was also missing; in stead, there was also a hood covering his head. He gently grabbed Minerva's hand, holding both his hands over hers in a greeting. "Thank you for coming, Minerva" he said in a hushed manner. He held her hand a while, before he let go. "I know it's hard to get past the dementors and the ministry. But I did not want Theodore here known for any of them". He said, while resting one hand on Theo's shoulder. "Good to see you again" He said as he turned back to Minerva.

"Did you get out safely Miner..-" Dumbledore halted his words; when some laughter was heard close by. Albus Dumbledore looked worried. He glanced down the narrow alley, there were some people passing in the main street not too far away. They were leaving a bar probably, Theo thought., based on their half drunk singing.

As he also looked down the street after the sound; he caught his own reflection in a window. His stubble beard upon his chin; with his narrow face. He had not shaved in days; and yet he had not grown enough hair to call it half a beard even. His obsession with reading into the long nights, haad turned his eyes slighly red under their green colored eyes. He was becoming thin, and was meerly reaching the height of Minerva, who stoo some 1.7 meters tall at most. Theo was feeling he was growing downards. and he was only 28! He looked for grey hair, as a joke. His dark brown hair, had grown so long it had hit his shoulders now. He pulled it back; and quickly shuffled backwards with his hand, trapping it in his hood that was leaning up towards his long neck." I am; but a stick creature of the human race " he thought to himself jokfully.

Albus looked back at his two companions, and let out a quick polite smile again, the expression flickered, and left quickly into a worried look again. He gestured for the two to follow, and moved down some rough rock steps close by. The end of the stairs was hidden in darkness. The building next to it, looked like a wall of bricks; more than some building one were supposed to be able to enter. With no windows, and black weathered bricks from bottom to top, it looked nothing of interest.

There was a feeling of cold blowing up the stairs as they walked down. The increasing rain did not make it more inviting. "This way, let's get in before the storm comes." Dumbledore whispered. They did not need to be asked twice, as the rain started to increase in strength. Theo and Minerva moved quickly down after Albus; as he walked quickly down the stairs. He rose his hand after a bit; with his wand held high, a dim light slowly emerged.

Minerva let out a slight smile, as she glanced back upon Theo. To confirm the exaggerated Lumos he had just used earlier. "Remember refinement comes a long way, Mr. Ollivander" Theo smiled, he did not fear the professor of transfiguration anymore. He knew he was more of an equal now. But after a decade since his time as a student, He still felt a slight scare about disappointing her.

"Let's see, ah, here we are" Albus softly spoke, in the middle of the steps leading down. He looked upon the brick wall facing the building, as if looking for a specific brick. This was nether the end of the stairs, and the rain was still coming in strength down. There was a mere 2 steps; that lead to a cave like hallway, with a water dripping stone roof. It still was enough cover for the rain; and Theo took the extra steps to get in shelter of the rain. Expecting that this was the correct way down into what seemed like a sewer entrance.

"Not that way." Dumbledore spoke briefly, not taking his eyes off the wall. He took his wand closer to the bricks. He quickly tapped his wand on one ordinary brick, then he tapped four more, and muttered something in a low whispering voice Theo could not hear. His wand let out a small line of purple light, forming over the tapped bricks and then fading. Then the bricks started to move slowly. They rotated into an opening; similar to one of the ways into Diagon Alley, only a street away from them. But this felt different, as the magic was much stronger, it was also more silent, unlike the many times he had entered from the muggle side of London.

A hallway of wood walls and floors appeared, with a few candles on the walls, lit up the hallway in dim light. It turned to the right around a corner in the end, only a short distance in. The roof; made of wood, was collecting spiderweb at every corner of its wood ceiling. A small gust of wind blew some dust up towards the newly created entrance. Theo's nose awakened with a few audible sniffs, he sounded like a niffler discovering gold. There was a smell of dry wood, and… butterbeer? He was cold, hungry, and a butterbeer would suffice to remedy this evening's cold weather.

Albus stepped to the side; gesturing everyone to enter, as they quickly did. He looked up and down the stairs quickly, before entering himself. Inside the hallway, he gestured with his wand quickly over his shoulder as he walked in. The entrance closed as fast as it appeared, the light flickering slightly as another gust of wind went through the hallway. It drew the cold air from outside. Making the group move with the wind down the hallway.

Minerva spoke gently "Lumos" as to demonstrate; even when she needs not speak the words; how to cast it with less power. Making again, as Albus did: a more gentle, dimmed light from her wand. Theo was still learning, he thought. He remembered lessons about the strength of the voice, that measured into a spell's power. He had small flashbacks to the lessons with Albus him self, where he first learned to use spells without speaking them. Hogwarts was a faint memory in these dark days. He was sad he was not returning to the castle, after all these years of traveling. And that his return to Diagon Alley; was far from his memories of buying school supplies all those years ago.

"The ministry tried to follow me when I left for Hogsmeade. I lost them in Hogs Head." Minerva said determined but in a proud voice to Albus, while she looked around the room with an expression of disappointment.

"Does Aberforth not know of dusting? His fireplace was a terrible place to travel by floo powder; I must have brought half the fireplace with me on my cloak, Albus" She uttered in slight despair over the state of her clothes, while wiping some dust off her cloak with her hands. Theo had an expectancy, that someone would lose some house points when McGonagall spoke in this tone.

As they came into a larger room, there were a couple of large beer kegs leaning towards a wall on one side. A wooden table, with some broken chairs on the ground, was in the center of the room. There were some empty boxes in a corner. It looked like it was abandoned more years ago than could be counted on both hands.

"My brother used this as a storage place once, it used to be where he stored some extra home-brewed Butter beer, before the ministry wanted their regulations and taxes." Albus liked telling stories thought Theo, his voice was clearly in the mood of telling history lessons. Even with its slight worried tone, it was Dumbledore, teaching something to his friends in his always charming way. Theo sniffed the air again, still feeling like a niffler. He walked over and attempted to open one of the kegs tap; being rewarded with the drippings of a honey like substance that gave a stale smell of rotting Butterbeer. It was not the reward he was hoping for.

Meanwhile, Albus gave the room a quick look around. He checked a door, hidden behind some sheets of bead wear, hanging from a wall on the opposite wall, it was locked. "It should be safe still, I doubt anyone found this way yet." He looked back and meet Theo's eyes.

His eyes sharpened into a serious expression.

"Voldemort's dark eyes are everywhere. It's hard to know who to trust now…"

Minerva looked upon Albus as she looked around the dusty room. "Charming… place… " She uttered while dragging her finger upon the tale, gathering an impressive amount of dust on her finger… "Another cozy place from your brother Aberforth I assume Albus?" Albus chuckled lightly.

"It used to have a lot more Butterbeer…" he laughed, tapping his stomach at the same time. Albus was still looking around the room, and landed his eyes on an empty wall with some space around it. "Your pendant Theo, if you please" said Dumbledore, stretching one hand to his side towards Theo, his hand, open, as to receive something. Theo smiled; he knew what was going to take place. While not an egoistical person, he could not help to smile secretly towards Minerva; who had a look of confusion on what was going on. He raised both his hands behind his head; and unlocked a silver chain hanging around his neck.

A square metal pendant comes up as he raised the unlocked chain. The pendant had a square formed silver piece. Within a frame edge; there was a shape in the form of a wooden door with a round arch. Its back held a similar engraving, but of a big wooden double door.

"Has it served you well on your travels, Mr Ollivander?" Albus said, as he was given the pendant. He holds it in his hand; as to inspect it himself. "It's been fruitfully, as always" Theo responded. Theo noticed the confused expression of Professor McGonagall, as she's looked upon them both. Albus took the pendant, and turned towards the wall.

"What do you think, should this be just the right size?" Albus ask's while looking at the wall, holding the pendant in his hand. "What…" McGonagall utters confused before Theo responds to the question… "For what side, Dumbledore? Theo responds quickly, realizing the question was to him. "Oh no, no; the small one I think today; "Albus says with a slight disappointment in his voice." "A little to the left" Theo responds, pointing towards the wall.

With that; Albus placed the pendant on the wooden wall. And as he gently nudges the pendant towards the wall, it sticks, and started to hover slightly in place. "There…." Albus takes a step back, and Its chains drops, hanging down on the pendant sides.

"Minerva, Your predecessor in Transfiguration; left me this after her time in this life…" Albus said as he takes another step back

"I gave this to Theodore here; for his travels. " He said as he takes another step back.

"And recently; we have come over something I need you to look at… Minerva flickers her looks between Albus and Theo; in an increasing confusion.

"You see… there was once a briefcase, and this place within…" Albus said; as he turned his head towards Theo.

Theo raises his wand, and points it towards the pendant. "And lately, it's been having some problems, you might say…." He winks with one eye and then looks back at Minerva.

"And maybe you can help us solve this…." he says; taking both his hands on her shoulders.

"Solve what … Albus?" She responds; as Theo loudly erupts:

"ENGORGIO MAXIMA"
