Things had been quiet the past few days. Nothing much had happened on Wednesday or Thursday. Now it was Friday; one more school session before the weekend.

Coming into school, something was definitely off. Bear had thought that "Act Weird At School Week" had been over since he defeated Babblong and Coughkoff, but now it had just started up all over again. Everyone in school was looking down in the dumps.

"Hey," said Roughraff, "why is everyone actin' like someone spit in their face and told 'em ta buzz off?"

Curious, Bear scanned the entire outside area. Every student in sight looked sad, gloomy, and blue in the face, like a scared anime character. This was totally creepy.

Spying Annie staring at her shoes while sitting on a swing, Bear approached his little friend. "Hey, Annie. Are you okay?"

Annie looked up, her eyes completely grey, and sighed. "What's the point in going to class? I won't understand what Ms. Hanson is talking about anyway."

Okay, this was definitely a Yo-Kai's doing. Bear clicked his watch open and scanned the area. Buzzing around above Annie's head was a mosquito-looking fella. "Ha! Found you! Roughraff, who is this guy?"

"Dat creep there is Negatibuzz," said Roughraff. "He makes ya a real downer. But why did he pick today of all days to start crap? It's finally nice out!"

Which it was; it was the first sunny day since, ironically, Sunday. "Okay, so let's get rid of him." Immediately after he said that, Bear realised that he had no idea how he was going to defeat Negatibuzz. He had Frostina's medal on him, but it was too warm outside for her to be any kind of effective against anyone. Babblong would be far too wrapped up in his own conversations to help, and Coughkoff…well, what could Coughkoff really do? Give Negatibuzz a sore throat? That would just make him even more negative.

"Yo, Buzz-Buzz!" Roughraff stepped up to try and handle the situation himself. "I don't stick up for people much, but when I do, I mean real business! You leave that chicky alone!"

"Who else is there to inspirit?" Negatibuzz sighed. "No one else would hang around long enough for me to stick to."

Negatibuzz's aura spread over to Roughraff, who deflated. "Yer right. And who am I to call myself a Yo-Kai companion? I know everyone I know from fighting, like a big jerk!"

"Uh?" Annie looked up. Her eyes were back to their usual teal. "What's going on?"

"Yo-Kai mischief," said Bear. "He's got Roughraff!"

Annie gasped! "Oh no!" She dropped to her knees and wrapped her arms around Roughraff. "Oh, don't say that! I'm sure there are lots of people who like you!"

But in doing so, Negatibuzz pulled Annie back into his pessimistic aura. "Or not…" Annie's voice became weak and deadpan. "I don't think there's anyone in the world who likes us."

Oh, man! Bear was really getting desperate now. He was gonna have to call on Frostina to freeze out Negatibuzz. His Watch glowed that familiar pale blue. "Let's go! Frostina! Yo-Kai Medal, do your thing!"

Along came Frostina from the Yo-Kai Watch. Unfortunately, like Bear believed from earlier, Frostina couldn't do much, and instead was weakened by the warm sun. Sweating bullets, Bear rushed her over to a tree with lots of cool shade. If anything, it would keep her from melting!

Okay, so that didn't work. Babblong was his next best bet. "Let's go! Babblong! Yo-Kai Medal, do your thing!"

"Summoning; Slippery!"

"Jibbery, ippery, slimy wimey doo, slippery!"

"Hey, I've met this fella before!" Babblong started up one of his signature stories. "Hey, Buzz, did I tell ya yet about the time my Uncle Lester and I…"

He trailed off. "Ah, forget it. You don't care to listen anyway. Why bother talking if nobody wants to hear ya, y'know?"

"I hear ya," said Roughraff. "Bein' a Yo-Kai ain't all it's cracked up ta be. What if I wanted to be a great doctor, or lawyer? But instead I'm here, stuck turning good kids into future criminals!"

Are you kidding me?! That was it! Bear didn't have anywhere else to go! The only Yo-Kai medal he had left was Coughkoff's, and what's the point in summoning a Yo-Kai who's just going to make everyone more miserable?!

"Yo-Kai friend, I call upon you! Go forth, Happierre!"

Huh? What was that?

"Yo-Kai Medal, do your thing!"

"Summoning; Heartful!"

"Speedy, heartful! Sing, lalala! Everywhere, Heartful!"

Suddenly, there was Happierre, floating behind all of them. "Ho ho! So it is cheering up you need? Have no fear, Happierre is 'ere!"

Happierre's aura instantly brightened up Annie, Roughraff, and Babblong. "Oh, now I remember!" Babblong started right back up again. "So as I was saying, Uncle Lester was telling me about the time he moseyed on down to Florida, where he met a nice surfing dolphin!"

As Babblong continued to yammer, Annie and Roughraff charged Bear with hugs. "So happy!"

"You see? No one is sad with Happierre around!" Happierre mused, grinning with glee.

"I can't inspirit anyone with him around! I'm completely useless here!" And so off Negatibuzz flew, with his medal falling to the ground, which Bear caught.

"Glad to be of assistance," said Happierre. He picked up Frostina from under the tree, and off he went.

Bear held Negatibuzz's medal in his hand. That was a good save. But where did Happierre come from? The only other person he knew who had his medal was-

"Eddie!"

Annie had gone and rushed the smaller boy with hugs. "I'm so happy that you're back!"

"Yeah, yeah, I missed you too, munchkin." Eddie noogied the top of Annie's head.

"Dude, that was awesome!" Bear came over. "I thought we were totally doomed on that one!"

"Speaking of, you guys are gonna be doomed if we don't get inside to class!" Tongus rushed them all into the school building, and after dropping Annie off at her Grade 4 class, Tongus and the boys made their way to their own classroom.

"Ah, Edward, you're looking a lot better," said Mr. Johnson as the four came inside.

"I did the assignments you sent home to me." Eddie hands Mr. Johnson four sheets of paper.

"On top of everything as always." Mr. Johnson took the papers. "Alright, boys, take your seats, class will start soon."
