Vacation in Beacon Hills

A Week With Uncle Scott

Scott stood in front of the mirror in the bathroom, holding onto the sink and staring at his mirror image. He looked exhausted. Because he hadn't slept at all last night. He had tossed and turned all night long. Terrifying worst case scenarios kept running through his head.

"What if he hates me? What if I totally fail? What if I screw him up?"

"Scott?" his wife called out from downstairs. "Scott, aren't you ready yet?"

Her voice got closer and closer. Steps neared and Scott tried to look less like a mess when the door opened and she poked her head in. She raised one eyebrow, her smile so broad her dimples showed.

"Are you psyching yourself up...? You should get changed, we gotta head to the airport soon."

"I just..." Scott paused and ran his fingers through his hair. "What if he hates me? Or I totally disappoint him? I don't know what to do with a teenager!"

She huffed out a laugh, covering her mouth with one hand. "Scott... It's not been that long since we all were teenagers, you know? And he doesn't hate you. He adores you."

"He adores me when they're all visiting Beacon Hills and I like took him out for ice-cream and movies and stuff when he was a kid. Spoiling a kid is easier than spoiling a teenager. And I got to hand him back to his parents at the end of the day. He's staying a whole week with us, Allison! What do you do with a teenager for an entire week?"

Allison heaved a sigh as she approached him, putting a gentle hand on his shoulder to gain his attention and make him look at her. Seeing her always calmed him down, especially when she smiled at him like that. He'd known it when he first saw her, that she was his soulmate. Deep down, he knew it, regardless of how sappy it sounded. And after everything they had endured together, including her near death experience, it had only cemented that.

"Okay. Listen to me, Scott," Allison's voice was firm but gentle. "You got this. Eli absolutely adores you, that's why he chose to stay with us and not with his grandpa. Stiles texted me and asked me if I could teach him some archery, because apparently Eli has been obsessed with Green Arrow lately. So a certain amount of hours is going to spend with him and me in the woods and you won't have to worry about him. And there are others in Beacon Hills who are dying to spend time with him. You and me, we totally got this, okay? Stiles trusts you with his kid and he does so rightfully."

"It's not the 'Stiles' part of his parentage that I'm worried about," Scott muttered beneath his breath. "What if teen Eli is as broody and emotionally constipated as Derek and I can't connect with him?"

"Teen Eli is still your godson, just like precious chubby cheeked kiddo Eli was and quite frankly, I worry much, much more about the 'Stiles' part of his parentage because the absolute last thing I want is for him to stumble over a body in the woods and go investigating on his own."

Allison raised her eyebrows pointedly at him and Scott flushed embarrassed. Okay, Allison was probably right. There was no reason to fret about what ifs. He should get ready so the two of them could go to the airport to pick up Eli Hale for a week of fun.

Eli was bored out of his mind as he got off the airplane. He could feel his phone buzzing in his pants, most likely dad asking if he already landed. So he ignored the phone, because the whole, entire point of Eli going to Beacon Hills was to give his dads the chance to be alone again. Something they hadn't been since his little sister was born.

"Eli! Eli, hey!"

He turned toward the voice, seeing Scott wave around wildly. His dad's best friend since diapers, his own godfather. Every time they went back to Beacon Hills, Eli remembered having a lot of fun with uncle Scott. That was why he had asked his dads if he could stay with uncle Scott instead of his grandpa; as much as he loved the man, he was such a workaholic and Eli thought he'd have more fun with uncle Scott for this week. Grinning, Eli waved back and approached.

"Hello, uncle Scott, aunt Allison. Thanks for having me."

He first hugged Scott and then Allison. She grabbed him by the shoulders afterward, bringing some distance between them to look him up and down. It had been a couple months since they last saw each other in person and he'd hit a growth spur since then, so he grinned and straightened up.

"How was your flight?" asked Allison while Scott grabbed Eli's bag.

"It was okay," Eli shrugged. "I did some of my summer reading."

"Where's your sister?" wanted Scott to know, looking around. "I mean, not that I'm not happy to have you here, but I was surprised that Stiles only asked if you can stay with us. I assumed that Talia wanted to stay with the sheriff or someone else...?"

"Oh, she is staying with someone else. Just not in Beacon Hills. She still thinks this place is cursed worse than Sunnydale – her and dad have been binge-watching Buffy – and she came to the conclusion that Beacon Hills must be a hellmouth too so she's staying away from it," Eli offered a half-grin at that. "She's staying with uncle Boyd and aunt Erica back at home."

"And you chose to spend some time with us," Allison's eyes wandered to Scott. "We've prepared some fun ideas. I thought we could start your stay off with a camping trip and some archery lessons in the woods, what do you say to sleeping under the stars?"

Eli's grin turned as broad and mischievous as his dad's. "I'm here for an adventure, so yeah."

Derek squinted, his jaw setting. "My Stiles-senses are tingling..."

"I am totally and super innocent," declared his husband without even looking up. "I am just laying here, enjoying the sun and the sounds of the beach. Listen to these waves, Der. Listen to them."

"Not you," Derek huffed a little. "Stiles Junior evokes the same feeling."

Stiles cooed softly and rolled onto his side so he could look up at his husband. "Aw. That's so sweet, babe. I love when you call Eli 'Stiles Junior', makes me feel so proud."

"It's not meant as a compliment," Derek muttered beneath his breath. "It's linked to your inherent lack of avoiding recklessness and throwing yourself into dangerous situations."

"Eh," Stiles shrugged carelessly and rolled fully onto his back. "He'll be fine."

"You left him with Scott," argued Derek, eyes wandering over his husband.

Stiles laughed and stretched out. "Why do you say his name like that?"

"He is, potentially, the only person on this planet worse than you because he always let himself be dragged into the danger by you," Derek reached up to massage the bridge of his nose. "In my mind, I can just see Eli stumbling into some... zombie-summoning and Scott running after him like a headless chicken, trying to keep our son alive while yelling 'Derek is gonna murder me' at the top of his lungs. Which, for the record, I actually will if something happens to him."

Stiles rolled his eyes at that and he reached out to pull Derek back down into a laying position so he could rest his head on Derek's broad, comfortable chest. The absolute best pillow on the planet. Stiles' eyelids fluttered shut as he relaxed against his husband, breathing deeply. Oh, that ocean air was so calming, the sound of the waves in the background and the heat of the sun on his skin.

"Okay, listen here, Sourwolf: You have exactly two options," Stiles sat up to lean over his husband, his hands on either side of Derek's head, eyes locked with Derek's. "Either you waste this entire week worrying about our son, or you could enjoy this amazing beach and your amazing husband. Look at me. Look at me, I am shirtless, gorgeous and right here. So, what will it be?"

Derek tried to fight his smile but he failed. Instead, he reached up to grasp Stiles by the neck and pull him down into a slow, deep kiss. These were surprisingly strong arguments on Stiles' part.

Eli was laughing brightly as him, Scott and Allison walked into the airport. He was wearing an arrow-head on a leather-band around his neck, a pendant he'd made with aunt Allison. The laughter died down when he actually spotted his parents. There was bags under the bags of Stiles' eyes and Derek looked about two seconds from an aneurysm.

"...Did I get that wrong or weren't you two supposed to have a second honeymoon?" asked Scott slowly, eyes wandering over his best friend. "You, uh, look not relaxed."

"Yes, Scott. Thank you for noticing," Derek's voice dripped with sarcasm as he glared.

"So on the second day of our vacation, a girl disappeared from our hotel and it turned out she was a witch and actually the town had a secret witch hunter clan who were sacrificing tourists on the full moon so Derek and I kind of had our hands full tracking them down, meeting up with the local pack to coordinate for some backup and saving the girl," supplied Stiles. "We had exactly twenty-seven hours of vacation before we had about five days of investigating, witch hunter tracking and fighting. The last day was nice, because there was a Lu'au with the local pack. That was nice."

"That was very nice," agreed Derek with a nod. "Aside from when Isaac called."

"Right," Stiles rubbed his face with both hands. "Because that full moon? When they tried to sacrifice the girl? At the same time, this was apparently the very first full moon that Talia transformed! And tore down half the house. Boyd, Erica and Isaac tried to repair as much of the damage as they could but when they realized they wouldn't manage, they called us to give us a 'heads up' so... Basically, while the plan was to come and stay here for the weekend, that's canned, Eli, we booked a flight back room right away so we can... repair our house..."

"Ri—ight," Eli turned to look from his parents over to Scott and Allison. "We had a fun week? We went camping, aunt Allison taught me how to use a crossbow. There was a serial killer but he was only on the drive through and we solved that pretty quickly."

"He wasn't hurt! Don't glare at me, Derek, he was perfectly fine the whole time!"

Stiles heaved a deep sigh and reached out for his son, resting a hand on Eli's shoulder. "I'm sorry, kiddo, I had hoped we could spend the weekend with your grandpa..."

"It's okay, I mean, I saw him plenty in the past week. You, however, will have to make up for it."

Stiles winced at that and once more rubbed his face. That much for a 'relaxing vacation'. Why did he think that him and Derek could ever catch a break...? At least their son had had fun.

~*~ The End ~*~

Author's note: Yesterday, I came across the amazing new casting news for the Teen Wolf movie that is not going to feature Stiles or Derek... Eli Hale, Derek's 15 year old son. Truly proving that Jeff can't make this franchise work solely on Scott's shoulders, huh. Like, the man has the option to just give Scott a son and have Scott teach his own son how to be a werewolf, but no, no he makes the deliberate choice to cast a kid who looks a lot like Stiles to play Derek's son in a movie where neither Stiles nor Derek are going to be in. Absolutely amazing, I am truly impressed. ANYWAY, I had to jump onto the bandwagon of the Sterek fandom claiming Eli! :D

(Also using the fact that the movie brings back Allison somehow and for some reason because hey, she has never been dead in my world anyway!)
