Not long after.
Alec finally felt like himself. He could feel his magic more strongly, he didn't know where he was but it wasn't where he had been, and it felt good. It wasn't stifling where he was now. His magic was making him itchy to the point of crazy. He needed to leave the egg and he wasn't sure why he had not tried before but it had to happen.
The magical pull of someone else that captivated him was incentive. He could see him sometimes and he sort of knew what the male looked like but the cave and old dragon interfered too much for him to get a good view. Cat eyes, dark hair and slim body was the most he could see at any one time, usually not all at once.
Alec concentrated and pushed through the shell that became more weak as time went by, he pushed with claws and magic. It was suffocating. He had to get out, his claws aided by his magic started ripping the fluid that fed him inside the shell so that he could get out and free.
Once the mucus type fluid was stripped away easily, the shell was fragile allowing him to poke a claw through the outer border. He forced himself through the shell and he couldn't believe he was breathing air that wasn't in the egg. Alec pushed the broken egg parts the furthest away from him. He never wanted to see that egg ever again. He would turn it to dust with his flame but that would be later, he was feeling tired. He would seek out real food as well but that could wait as well.
Alec looked around briefly, he was in a bed and he felt safe but he was confused. It was night, he needed to collect himself before exploring. He rested in whatever thing he was in, it wasn't a dragon hoard or bed of jewels or maybe other dragon comforts but at this time, it was warm and comforting. Whatever it was, it was good enough. He would sleep in the warmth of where he was, he would deal with changes that he instinctively knew would happen later.

Magnus got up and made some coffee, he didn't look at the dragon bed. He wasn't awake enough yet, he would check on him after some coffee. He had his mug full and took a couple of sips when he was jolted by hard knocks on his door. Who could be at his door at this time of the morning, he was mildly annoyed.
He calmed himself and made a leisurely walk to his loft door. Whomever was standing there would get an earful. He opened it to find Maryse standing there looking frantic.
"Magnus." She tried to look into the apartment but Magnus only opened the door slightly.
The warlock sighed, she was one worried mother. "Maryse, come in." He opened the door wider to allow her entry. "Want some coffee?"
"Where is he?" Maryse felt her son emerge, his magic flooding her with a mother/son bond. She consulted her crystal ball and watched him. Her concern now would be when he would rise in size, he would not stay in a hatchling form for very long. Days at most and hours at the least before he would use his magic to become the dragon he was meant to be. She knew he'd choose his biggest form first before practicing to his smaller dragon form. Once he got through that, he would then emerge in his human form.
"Where is who?" Magnus took a big gulp of coffee, the caffeine wasn't kicking in fast enough for him.
"Don't be obtuse Warlock, you know whom I'm talking about. Alec." She looked to the make-shift warming bed and could see the black scales. She started to walk to the bed but was stopped by Magnus.
"Let me look." Magnus used his magic to check his wards before taking a look at the bed. He must have been really tired last night for his magic to miss the hatching. Clearly, there wasn't any issues since Alec's magic didn't reach out to him.
"I'm his mother," Maryse protested.
"Who left him in a cave for far too long." Magnus felt bad but not overly so, "you told me he called out to me. It will be me he will see first." He snapped his fingers and a cup of coffee appeared in her hand to keep her busy, then walked to the warming bed. She was upset but he couldn't worry about that right now, there would be time to fix that.
The warlock peered into the bed and the most amazing sight he'd ever seen was sleeping. A tiny black dragon. The white horns were small but were on the top of his head and his claws were extended but didn't seem to bother the being. The scales were mostly black but did have color that matched his hazel eye color that Magnus recalled from his dreams. His breathing was even and Magnus ran his magic over him to check on his health. The dragon stirred at the touch but didn't wake, in fact the dragon made himself more comfortable. The one thing Magnus knew was magic could easily connect and his was intermingling easily with the sleeping dragon.
It felt like Alec was welcoming Magnus magically and the warlock warmed at the idea. He couldn't wait to see the dragon in all his glory. He would be magnificent, he knew it. He turned and looked at Maryse, "he's fine and sleeping."
Maryse had a death grip on the coffee mug but relaxed slightly at the words. "We don't have loads of time before he changes." She did move a bit closer to at least look at her son or as close as the warlock would allow. She was pleased with him and felt better that he was now outside of the egg.
"I know, but I think we will have to let it be on his schedule and not ours." Magnus ran a finger down the back of dragon Alec, he didn't wake. "I'll make arrangements and will portal him when the time comes."
"Promise, you'll be there for him." She looked to the warming bed. She couldn't help but worry about him but Alec did call out to Magnus, it would be best for the warlock to help him.
"Of course." Magnus smiled at the tiny dragon. He was so relieved to finally see him and was looking forward to all of his changes and more importantly to meet the being in his dreams.
Maryse nodded in agreement and walked to the kitchen to enjoy the coffee. Magnus joined her and made them breakfast. They discussed the details but left the conversation light, it was too early in the day for stress for both of them.

Alec woke from the warmest sleep he had in a long time. He stretched and was shocked he could do such a thing, he forgot he was out of the egg. Stretching all his limbs, and wings. He looked around and found he liked where he was and his magic wasn't concerned. He looked with awe in the room he was in but wasn't ready for his transformation but he would be soon because he needed it. Alec's instincts from getting out of the egg and feeling his magic infuse him and gave him a peace he had needed. Then he stretched again and discovered the magical man in his dreams was there with him. He may not be in the room with him, he was still here. Alec sniffed in the sandalwood scent. He noticed auras of his family as well but the sandalwood male was more important to him.
He listened to the beings in another room. They were discussing his ascension to all of his true forms. Alec was amused at their worry, he'd handle it all easily. He could feel it in his bones. The old dragon was nothing if efficient, he may have been stuck in an egg but the dragon's magic imparted more than warmth and magic lessons, he taught all of the offspring everything. It was the old dragon's belief they wouldn't be in the cave for eternity and when it was time to let them go, he would. The old dragon did love them all in his own way. It made giving them up if the soul was worthy easier. That didn't mean he'd let the hatch-lings go easily. He was in charge for a reason and it was to protect, teach and care for them.
He felt his mother but wasn't concerned, she was warm and he recognized her support. Alec was aware of his siblings but he did his best to keep his own aura from alerting them. He didn't know why he was in the cave and wasn't ready to deal with those details.
He thought his father was somewhere or dead and he couldn't care. If he saw his father he would challenge him and right now that wasn't the best idea. He listened to the beings talking in another room. Alec's hearing was excellent so he leaned his head toward the room and rested his face on the edge of the bed.
"Only you could find something odd." Catarina knew her friend well and his penchant for mischief, he was the warlock version of Loki, but not evil. She laughed at herself, she watched too many Marvel movies. It was humorous most times but other times a real pain in the butt with his behavior, she actually understood Thor better now. She didn't usually spend time with movies but her adopted daughter Madzie loved them.
Magnus snorted, "not odd, different." He wasn't one to believe in fated things but for some reason this occurrence was important.
Ragnor snorted, "yeah … only you." He swirled his beverage and then eyed Magnus in a knowing way that only the friends understood.
"Have you looked at him?" Magnus was enamored with the beauty of the dragon. He had not seen all his forms but the one in the cat bed was gorgeous.
Catarina almost huffed at him, "he is a pretty dragon but I think 'you' are biased." She did check on the being, only to make sure he was healthy and she did that for Magnus. She laughed heartily, "how do these things happen to you."
"I don't know." Magnus was earnest in his reply. "I felt compelled and my magic wouldn't leave me alone." He rolled his shoulders as if they would make the situation make more sense. The reality was he needed to ease the muscles.
While the friends chatted, Alec laughed to himself. He was having fun for the first time in a long time listening to the warlocks. He knew what they were and understood more as time went by, he may have newly hatched but be was accessing knowledge easily. It wasn't painful but overwhelming at times.
"The seer has been helpful?" Magnus snorted at Catarina's question, Maryse was more than helpful. She was aggravating. He understood a mother's love but she was a little too aggressive for him. He knew what to do, she advised him well.
"Yeah, but more aggressive or agitated because of being a dragon herself and she wants to see her son." Magnus glanced at the warming bed and noticed the face staring at them. "He's awake."
Cat and Ragnor looked at the dragon while Magnus went to get him food and water. The eyes were unique and he seemed so small yet they knew he would grow to be bigger. Cat put her coffee down and helped Magnus make the creature food. Ragnor looked the being over, he wasn't planning on getting any closer to it.
Once the mostly protein type dish was ready, Magnus walked to the bed. "Do you want to eat here or in the kitchen?" Catarina stayed back, not wanting to spook a dragon.
"Kitchen." Alec stood up and flew from the bed to the counter. Magnus gave him plenty of room to maneuver and then placed the food in-front of him. Alec wasn't exactly coordinated yet but he made it to the counter. The warlocks were all surprised by being able to hear Alec talk to them. His voice was deep for a little thing and they were ready to catch him if he fell, the dragon managed to get where he was going without incident.
"Thank you," Alec ate his breakfast. It felt great actually eating as opposed to using the egg sack for nutrition.
"Your welcome." Magnus was still stunned by the voice. "If you want more, let me know." It was the only thing he could think of to say. This dragon was a beauty to watch and he was more than pleased to see how comfortable the creature was in his apartment.
The warlocks returned to their chairs and watched the new house guest devour the bowl of mixed meat and drink the water. Alec would have felt self conscious being watched but he was dragon and his tummy too empty for him to care. When he was done he turned to the three people in the kitchen with him. "That was great." Alec then turned toward his sleeping area, flexed his wings and flew back for a nap. He made himself comfortable, one of the beings removed the egg parts and it pleased Alec. He curled up in the middle of the heated bed and closed his eyes.
"That went well," Ragnor observed.
"It did, he's very cute for a dragon." Cat relaxed with her coffee. She would have to leave soon to meet with one of Madzie's teachers but was glad that Magnus would be safe around the dragon.
"Now, to keep his Mother at bay, so that when he's ready to emerge fully, it won't be stressful for him." Magnus was thinking of places for Alec.
"I thought you liked his Mom." Ragnor wasn't sure having two dragons in his friends life was a good idea but he wouldn't say anything about it.
"I do like her and she's been helpful and I totally understand her concerns but," Magnus sighed, "she can be a handful. I can deal with it but since I brought Alec here, she's been more adamant."
"A mother's love, she'll mellow once she gets to interact with him." Cat stated in a reassuring tone.
"I suppose so," Magnus thought of Maryse often. She could be a handful and then other times so easy to talk to and her insight was valuable to him. Especially since she was convinced that he was fated to be with her son. He snorted, "pushy but I suppose that's a dragon trait."
"You'll get used to it," Ragnor laughed. "After-all, you have one in your living room."
Magnus looked at the bed where Alec was sleeping, "I know, it will get easier with time." A thought came to the warlock, "I am looking forward to getting to know him." Cat and Ragnor laughed, they knew their friend was in for an adventure.
"I gotta go," Cat put her coffee cup in the sink. "Madzie's art teacher needs to meet with me." At the concerned look of her friends she informed them, "she's very good with art and we're thinking of advanced classes." She shakes her head, at least her friends were as protective of her and family as she was them. "I'm going to do one more health check on Alec." She paused, "it is Alec, right?
Magnus nodded, "Alexander Gideon Lightwood, according to his mother. She likes calling him Alec." He looked toward the sleeping dragon, "but I'm calling him Alexander." Catarina patted his shoulder then went to the bed to check on Alec's health, once she was satisfied she made a portal to the school and with a quick wave, she was gone
Ragnor looked to Magnus, "I've done a lot of research on your behalf and you owe me big time." The prickly green warlock with horns called forth a book. "His mother will be helpful but this book will be beneficial." He placed the book on the table. "Read it."
Magnus rolled his eyes, like he didn't read. "Yes, 'Mother'."
Ragnor was annoyed, "I'm trying to help you, you fool." He had also got ready to leave the apartment.
"Thanks." Magnus did appreciate his friend and his help, sometimes his grumpy demeanor was trying but not horribly.
"When the time comes and you need help, call me." Ragnor magic'd his cup away and opened a portal to go, "good luck." He walked out to his London home via his portal.
