CHAPTER 3: HEIDI MEETS THE SURFER DUDE
After lunch, Heidi walked the beach alone for a bit. Charlie Brown and Frieda went to play in the ocean. She saw Sally and Michael continuing to look for "buried treasure", and Snoopy and Woodstock was off doing another great magical performance at the gazeebo. She decided to walk along the beach to see what all the area had to offer.
As she kept walking, she spotted a guy carrying a surfboard. He had a Mohawk hairdo and some wild colored swim trunks. She was immediately smitten by the newcomer heading her way. He had spotted her, as well. They eventually met up together.
"Hi," said Heidi, smiling.
"Well, hello yourself," said the boy. "You're not from around here, are ya?"
"No, just here for the week. I'm with my cousins, uncle, and aunt."
"So, what's does a lovely lady like you go by?"
"Heidi. Heidi Brown."
"Well, Heidi Brown, my handle's Dex 'The Water Shredder' Jordan. They call me 'Shred' for short. I got that nickname due to how I surf the Atlantic here."
"Is 'Dex' short for 'Dexter'? I ask because I have another cousin named Dexter. He's a bit of a science nerd, though."
"Yeah, it is, Heidi. Anyway, you were about to catch me ride these waves. You care to watch?"
"I'd love to." And Heidi laid out a towel she brought with her. Dex went out into the water to surf. Charlie Brown and Frieda caught up with her.
"Hey, Heidi," Charlie Brown greeted. "What's happening?"
"Oh, nothing, just met a hunk!" swooned Heidi. "He's out there about to surf now!" She pointed to Dex, who had just hopped on his surfboard.
"Back when we took that trip to Hawaii and stayed at my uncle's resort, our friend Peppermint Patty was in a surfing contest," said Frieda. "She actually won, too!"
"Snoopy was in it, briefly, as well," added Charlie Brown. "He didn't do as well, though."
"Is that him, Heidi?" asked Frieda, pointing to Dex, who was already riding a wave on his surfboard.
"That is him, Frieda," said Heidi, swooning over the guy. The teens watched as Dex rode on his surfboard. As he came back in, he noticed the newcomers.
"And who are your friends, Heidi?" he asked.
"This is my cousin, Charlie," Heidi replied, doing the introductions. "It's his parents that are my uncle and aunt, and whom I came with. And this is his girlfriend Frieda, who also came along. Charlie's younger sister and brother are also here, as well as his sister's boyfriend. You'll meet them later. Guys, this is Dex."
"Nice to meet you, Dex," said Charlie Brown.
"Likewise," added Frieda. They shook his hand.
"Well, I better get back to my place before my folks freak," said Dex. "So, Charlie, how long is your family staying?"
"For the whole week until Saturday," said Charlie Brown.
"Great, that'll give us time to get to know each other better, Heidi," said Dex. Heidi was obviously smitten by the surfer boy. "I'll see you all later."
"See you later, Dex," said Frieda. And Dex left for home. Heidi had the look of love on her face.
"You really like him, don't you, cuz?" asked Charlie Brown.
"I do, Charlie, I do," sighed Heidi. "He's just the most!"
"She's got that same look in her eyes that I get when I see you, babe," said Frieda.
"Yeah," agreed Charlie Brown. "I think she's in love, Frieda." And the three of them headed back to the RV. They picked up Snoopy and Woodstock on the way, and Sally and Michael also met up and they all went back to camp.
