CHAPTER 7: THE ONE FOR ME

Charlie Brown and Frieda had gone out to eat at a nearby restaurant, Snoopy and Woodstock were doing a night performance at the pavilion, and Sally and Michael found a movie theater to go see movies at. Heidi was planning her own night out with Dex. They were going to go walk the boardwalk and do some stuff together. She was dressed up pretty nice wearing a purple dress with matching pumps to go with the ensemble. She was ready to go out with her dream guy.

Dex was at the boardwalk watching as Snoopy did his magic for the night crowd. Everyone was amazed at his tricks. Heidi walked up to Dex and greeted him with a kiss.

"I see Snoopy's entertaining the crowd again," she said.

"Yeah, your cousin's dog is something else," said Dex. "So, are you ready for our date?"

"I am, Dex." And Snoopy gave a wink to Heidi from the stage for good luck. She waved to him and she and Dex were off on their date.

The first thing they did was go to a hot dog stand and got some hot dogs to eat. Heidi didn't care for fancy restaurants or stuffy "three piece suit" fine dining; she liked the more simple dates and hot dogs were fine with her. The next thing they did was watch a rock band play at a nearby free concert. They enjoyed the performance. Dex also took her to the ocean to see how it looked at night. They sat alone for a while on the beach, as no one was around where they were.

"It's eerie seeing it at night," said Heidi. "You can hear the waves crash, but you can hardly see them."

"I know," agreed Dex. "Sometimes I like to come out here at night and just listen to the waves of the ocean. It's pretty calming at nighttime. I can even hear them near my place."

"I'd love to live down here. My dad drives his semi down here for deliveries often. Maybe I can talk him into letting me visit you one of his trips."

"That would be nice, Heidi. I know you're only here for the week, but I don't want to lose contact with you."

"I don't want us to lose contact either, Dex. I'll give you my Facepage account and we can become friends. I'll even talk to you through webchat, as well. I think, no, I KNOW you're the one for me."

"I feel you're the one for me, as well, Heidi." The two of them looked at each other. Then, they started kissing each other. They felt electricity going through them. Heidi didn't want to be anywhere but in Dex's arms and he in hers. But they knew they only had the week to be together, so they made plans to keep in touch when she left. But she planned to see him again in the future. She knew, for certain, Dex was the boy for her.

Later, Heidi returned to camp. As she entered the RV, everyone was there relaxing. Charlie Brown and Frieda were back from their date, and Sally and Michael were playing a board game. Snoopy was outside sleeping on top of a tent he set up. Woodstock was laying on a smaller tent of his own. Silas and Maureen were watching some TV. Wyatt was already in bed asleep.

"How was your date, Heidi?" asked Maureen.

"It was great, Aunt Maureen," said Heidi, smiling. "Dex was wonderful."

"I can tell you like him, Heidi," said Charlie Brown. "I've never seen you more happy than you are now."

"He's the most wonderful guy around. I want him to be my boyfriend. It's just too bad we're going back to Sparkyville at the end of the week."

"Maybe not, baby girl." At that moment, Heidi's father Reed walked into the RV.

"Dad!" said a shocked Heidi. "What are you doing here?! Do you have a delivery down here?"

"Nope," said Reed. "I just didn't want to spoil the surprise."

"What surprise?"

"I had your uncle Silas take a vacation in this town specifically for Spring Break because I was looking at a house for us down here. I got a job at a warehouse down here. And now with you finding love here, I have another incentive to move here."

"You mean, we're going to live out here in Florida?!"

"And we're going to help you unpack at your new house," said Silas.

"We will even get Dex to help out, as well," added Frieda.

"I'd like to meet this Dex," said Reed. "I want to get to know the boy who put a smile on my baby girl's face."

"He's wonderful, dad!" said Heidi, smiling. "You'll love him!"

"How did we do with hiding the surprise, Uncle Reed?" asked Sally.

"You did good, Sally," Reed replied. "Well, if you guys don't mind, I'd like to take my daughter to see our new home. You folks will see it in the morning."

"Sounds good, little brother," said Silas. "She's all yours."

"Thank you so much, dad," said Heidi, giving her father a kiss on the cheek. "You just made me the happiest girl in Florida!"

"You're welcome, baby," said Reed. "Let's go see our new home." And Reed and Heidi left to go to their new house. The Browns, Frieda, and Michael would see it the next day.
