The Enterprise was gliding through space on its way to Starbase 14 and the science team they were supposed to take to the newly found ruins near the Neutral Zone. As usual McCoy was grumbling, "Going next door to the Romulans." Jim Kirk smiled as he heard the, "Foolhardy is what I call it."
Spock spoke, "It is illogical to assume ancient civilizations only lived where it is comfortable for us to find them Doctor."
Before the southern doctor could grumble at the half-Vulcan first officer Uhura straightened up, "Captain, we are receiving a hail." He turned to the graceful african woman who took the device out of her ear, "The science team is ready and want to come aboard as soon as we arrive sir."
They did fifteen minutes later with Captain Kirk, Doctor McCoy and Spock all in the transporter room ready to meet their guests. Kelly beamed the three being team on board and they found it consisted of a Human man in his fifties with salt and pepper hair, a graceful Andorian woman of uncertain age, and a Vulcan young woman. Looking at the trio Captain Kirk stepped forward, "Welcome to the Enterprise, I'm Captain Kirk." Turning to the two men behind him, "This is my first officer Spock and Doctor McCoy our Chief Medical Officer."
The human man stepped forward, "I'm Doctor Johnson," motioning to the Andorian, "this is Doctor Tarak." Smiling at the Vulcan, "And Mr Spock already knows my young friend."
As he spoke Spock stepped forward and lifted his hand in the Vulcan salute but held it out towards the woman who lifted hers in the same motion and they pressed their palms together. He said, "Well met T'nela."
She nodded gracefully, "And you Spock." Only he saw the slight smile in her eyes, "Mother will be concerned about your eating habits."
Spock bowed his head in acknowledgement, "She has always said that I am too thin." Then turning to his human friends, "Captain, Doctor, I do not believe you have met my sister T'nela."
Raising her hand in the proper salute, "I am honored by your presence sirs."
McCoy looked dumb founded but Kirk quickly regained his balance, "Then Spock should lead the tour."
His first officer inclined his head, "Yes sir." Both couldn't help but notice that T'nela made the exact same motion causing the black hair that fell down to her waist to fall over her ears. Her flowing robes were the same color of blue as Spock's uniform…
"That would be a pleasure," Doctor Jones broke into their thoughts as Doctor Tarak nodded her head in agreement. As they left Jones asked, "Can we conclude in Science so my colleagues and I can get to work?" The door shut on Spock's agreement.
McCoy found his voice after a few moments, "Trust that pointy eared hobgoblin to never mention her." Jim Kirk just nodded in agreement.
