He really hadn't planned to spend his day like this, chasing a monkey around town but here he was.

It had sounded easy at first, take care of a single monkey, best deal ever considering it was either watch a monkey or watch Dagur the Deranged.

Nobody mentioned the monkey was deviously clever and mocked him at every step.

"Hello, Hiccup!" smiled Dagur as he got off the boat and Hiccup shifted uncomfortably under his gaze.

"Hi Dagur," he said, trying to push in as much enthusiasm as he could.

Two men came out before they could exchange more words, carrying a cage as something as he shrieked and banged in its tiny birdlike cage and Hiccup looked away not wanting to know what animal Dagur tortured this time.

"Hey hey hey, careful with that," said Dagur though wasn't even looking at them, "So what's new with you, Hiccup?"

"Uh nothing… same old day," he shrugged, "So how long are you staying?"

Dagur didn't seem to understand Hiccup wanted him gone, "A week! Won't this be amazing?" he asked, crushing Hiccup in a hug as Hiccup vainly tried to get away, "I have so many fun ideas!"

"Like- like what?"

"Well-"

"It can't involve destruction…"

"You're no fun!"

"I'm already in trouble for destroying stuff in the last dragon raid!"

"How'd you manage That?" he asked, quirking an eyebrow looking Hiccup up and down, it had been another year since his visit and while Dagur had sprung up at least a foot, Hiccup looked like he grew an inch at Most.

"Another one of my inventions," Hiccup said glumly, looking at his feet.

"Oh those things," said Dagur uninterested before adding, "Well one day you will get them right and the whole tribe will be begging you to make them some!"

"You really think so?" asked Hiccup, cracking a smile. Maybe Dagur wasn't so bad.

"Yep! Now come on," he said dragging Hiccup away.

"Where are we going-"

"It's a surprise!"

"I don't like surprises,"

"Sure you do!"

"No I really don't"

"Well you'll like this one!"

They continued on in silence, Hiccup already knowing it was pointless arguing, sort of like his conversations with his Dad, he quickly dismissed the thought though, his father was nothing like Dagur.

Dagur suddenly put his hands over Hiccup's eyes, as Hiccup tried to wrench them off, "You're not supposed to be able to see, come on!"

Hiccup was getting more uncomfortable by the minute and contemplated what would happen if he just ran, probably would just get caught and pulled back again

Eventually Dagur took his hands off of Hiccup's eyes, much to Hiccup's surprise he hadn't been led into a building or something

In the center of the table was a small bird cage covered by a purple cloth, the same one he saw earlier, whatever was inside was still trying to get out making strange noises.

"Well, open it already!" yelled Dagur from behind him causing Hiccup to jump though Dagur didn't comment.

Cautiously Hiccup lifted the cloth up quickly pulling his hands away in case inside was some sort of snake or spider, that was what happened last birthday when he had opened his gift from Snotlout.

Inside though was not a ferocious predator waiting to strike, but instead a monkey…

Not at all what Kaeya had in mind.
