Sun-Speckled Glade

It was bound to happen that after a long while; the waters from the heavens would come crashing down. The sun hung in the sky for what had felt like forever; eventually rain was inevitable.

At the Sato estate, things were calm, the pitter-patter sounds of the rain outside. Korra did her morning stretches while Asami read the paper, sipping her green tea peacefully, their usual routine.

Korra rested her forehead on the mat, her arms outstretched, her knees under her hips. She took five even breaths. Her body already felt limber after a night's rest, and she was ready to talk.

"You know," Korra began, lifting herself off the mat and crossing her arms, stretching one and then the other. "I used to hate the rain."

Asami looked up from the paper, genuinely surprised. "You did?"

Korra shrugged. "Yeah, there was nothing to do, especially when I first arrived at Republic City. As someone's who used to snow, it took a while to get used to. And don't get me started on roof leaks, learned that the hard way."

Asami nodded in agreement. "I totally get that. The ground gets so muddy and gross, and it clings to your boots afterwards." She grimaced and took a sip of her tea before setting it down on the table. "What's different now, Korra?"

Korra finished rolling up her mat, setting it aside, and looked to Asami.

"Well, we started living together, and whenever the rain shows up, like now, it's pretty peaceful." Korra responded, a smile growing on her features. "I bet we both could use some peace and quiet after what we've been through."

Asami blinked, and she smiled right back at the Avatar.

"Well, I'm glad that's changed your mind about the rain," She replied, tilting her head. "I guess I did have a hand in that, if I do say so myself."

"You've got that right," Korra said before leaning in and kissing Asami full on the lips, both of them smiling.
