Chapter One

"Noriko's past"

Noriko was angry at her father for agreeing with her uncle, for her to attend the Tokyo Jujutsu High. "I thought you said Jujutsu sorcerers are crap? Why am I to attend such a school when I can train with you?", she asked her father, who was standing, looking at the busy streets of Tokyo.

Nanami is a part-time salaryman and part-time jujutsu sorcerer. When he went to investigate an abandoned house, he came to learn that this house was full of curses. Of course, as a grade 1 sorcerer, he easily exorcised all of the curses, but he did not only find curses, but found a little girl on the side of the street. The girl could not move, because of a curse surrounding her. She seemed to know that and she was terrified of it. Nanami looked at the girl closely and exorcised the curse immediately. When the curse was gone, she exhaled in relief and looked at the man that rescued her. "Thank you", she said, but still looked sad. "Why are you here? Where are your parents?", Nanami had asked. He wasn't normally the sympathetic type, but surely, he had feelings. "I don't have one", she said, looking down. "What's your name?", he was worried for the poor child. "Noriko". He got down in one knee and touched the girl's arm. She was surprised and scared, after all, Nanami was a stranger, but she had never felt protection like this before and it calmed her down. "Noriko, would you like to come with me?", he felt the need to protect the child before him. He smiled so softly. Noriko's eyes twinkled as she accepted Nanami's offer and went with him. She was raised by Nanami and he treated her like his own. She was a special kind of person, who is able to see curses and a born sorcerer, although a little to none is known about her past. She doesn't seem like one of the special families, but even though she wasn't, she was a strong being.

Noriko was only 7, when she met Nanami. She started seeing curses at the age of 5, when she thought she had saw a cat in the shadows, only to find a hideous looking monster. Gladly she wasn't badly hurt with the encounter, in fact she froze and acted as if she didn't see it. She had never met her parents, but she was raised by a close friend of them. Her mother died giving birth to her and her father had given her up. Because of the depression her father had felt losing her mother, he committed suicide by jumping on top of a tall building. She was badly mistreated at her mother and father's close friend and as a result of the mistreatment, she ran away when she was only 4. She couldn't understand the world back then, and had been living on the streets. For three years, no one dared to look for her or at least help her. She learned a few things about the world she's living and she somehow got good at hiding. She would only eat leftovers and was extremely thin. With first time seeing curses, she was terrified for her life almost every time. But when she saw people unable to see them and just acted as if they were nothing, she started doing the same and it went smoothly, until one particular curse had surround her. She thought this was her end, it was a good thing that Nanami was there. From that moment of seeing her, he immediately became a little happy with his oh-so-boring life. She was joyful, but can sometimes be logical and serious. She was like the two sides of one coin. She can be funny and playful, but is serious in certain situations. She was a fast-learner, too. Nanami introduced her to Gojo and they immediately clicked, but somehow for Noriko, Gojo seemed a little childish. She said this to him when Nanami and Gojo were discussing something of a serious matter and Gojo was joking around. Nanami laughed at his reaction.

"Dad, I don't want to and did you really think I'm going to leave you all alone?", she said angrily at her father. "You are stubborn as a mule, but you don't have a choice. Attend the school or never be a sorcerer", he said and she went silent. When she was 9, she had one wish on her birthday, to be like her adopted father, a powerful jujutsu sorcerer. She was serious with this wish, because after her birthday, she demanded Nanami to teach her a few things. "Ugh, I knew you were going to use that against me, not fair", she groaned and stomped like a child back into her room. Nanami smiled looking at the child he raised. She was growing, and he couldn't wait to fight side-by-side with her.

She was enrolled at Jujutsu High along side Megumi whom she considered as her first friend, although Megumi was rather detached, but all is well. They trained together, with Gojo who was a great mentor to both of them. She called her father every single day and she told him all about her day with Gojo-sensei. She was mostly annoyed with how Gojo would suddenly become so childish in the middle of class. "I can be funny, but when it's serious, I want everyone to be serious. Although Megumi's like that all of the time", she said to him on the phone while getting ready for bed. Nanami chuckled. "You can't change him, Gojo will always be like that", he said and she smiled. She got to her bed and said good night to her dad. "Good night, dad. And please be careful", she was worried. She remembered those times of always being left alone whenever Nanami would have a mission to uphold. She waited by the front door, until she fell asleep. She cherished every moment with Nanami when he wasn't busy, because for her, it will only be a matter of time when she realizes that no one's going to be opening the front door. She hissed at the pain she was feeling thinking about it. She went to bed as soon as she ended the call. Tomorrow, she and Megumi will be going to a mission, because as Gojo-sensei said, "Practice is better when you are on the field". Which didn't really made sense at first, until he explained it further, because he thought they didn't understand.

Itadori Yuji, woke up in a closed room filled with paper. He was unconscious and heard someone talk that made him wake up. When he looked at the man, who was talking to him, it was Gojo. Noriko was just outside the door, wanting to investigate what made Itadori so special, that he regained control of his body, after eating one of the fingers, but then, she couldn't. Her uncle would not allow her. If only she had prevented what had happen before any of this.

"Don't you think it's a stupid thing to keep a special grade curse at a place like this?", said Noriko walking with Megumi. They have been sent out to retrieve a small box that contained a powerful curse. It was put in an instrument shelter in a school. Miyagi Sugisawa Municipal High School, a school that Itadori Yuji is currently attending. "It's silly, but we were sent out to get it, so we better do our job", Megumi approaches the small box-like house and stops when he noticed that it didn't have a padlock. "That's strange", Noriko plainly said, her voice sounding annoyed but emotionless at the same time. Megumi opened the box-like house and nothing was there. He kept on looking, inspecting every inch of the house – Noriko just standing and doing nothing – but it was completely clear. He then, called for his teacher to let him know that the instrument shelter is empty. "Maybe it took a walk at night", Gojo said on the phone, thinking it's fun to joke around when a special grade curse is missing. "I'm going to hit you", Megumi says. "Gojo-sensei, just come, I don't want to waste my time here", Noriko added and spoke near Megumi's ear so that Gojo could hear what she said. She rolled her eyes and put her arms crossed. Annoying little creature, she thought. "Well, I'll come, but you two can't go back without it", Gojo said and ended the call. Megumi got annoyed and said, "I'm going to punch him next time". Noriko puts her hand in her head in annoyance and disappointment. Does that mean that they have to go look for it? Well, then. And off they went.
