Azara yelped as she felt another contraction hit. She heard the portal door slammed open, followed by several footsteps as they rushed over. She looked looked up, seeing Hunter's worried face as he held her hand.
"I'm back! I got Eda and someone from the healing coven!" He panted. She noticed that he was strangely out of breath. Azara smiled at him then looked over at Eda.
"He panicked the whole way back." The owl lady told her.
"It's good to see you, Eda. How are the others?" Azara asked the witch.
"Why not ask them yourself!" Azara's eyes widened in surprise to see King and Luz reveal themselves from out of thin air, smiling. King was riding on Luz's shoulder.
"Surprise!" King exclaimed.
"Hey, you two!" Azara smiled, happy to see them. "What are you doing here?"
"We wanted to pop by with a surprise visit." Luz said. The healing coven witch stepped up, walking over to the couch. She helped Azara up, supporting her by her shoulders. Hunter did the same, helping her stand up.
"Let's get you upstairs, to be more comfortable." The healing witch replied and the two walked up the stairs, while the others followed behind them. Lil Rascal flew back into the nest, resting next to Jewel.
They headed to the bedroom and opened the door and walked over to the bed, placing Azara down on it. She laid back against the pillows, taking in deep breaths while trying to suppress the pain of the contractions. Hunter sat down beside her, taking her hand, holding it, while the healing witch checked Azara over.
"It's going to be awhile, the baby's not ready yet." She said. Azara's eyes widened in disbelief.
"You got to be kidding me!" She groaned. "I'm in terrible pain here! What do you mean not ready?!"
"Not ready, means not ready. The baby's not ready to come out yet." The witch laughed a little at Azara's response.
"Hey, hey, hey! How about we talk about something else to take your mind off of the pain?" Luz suggested.
"Okay, how is the glpyh master teacher doing at Hexside?" Azara asked her. Luz smiled.
"It's coming along well! Everyone's starting to get the hang of it!"
"John?" Azara questioned.
"He's becoming a great alchemist. The kid's definitely has a knack for it." Eda told her. Azara smiled before looking back at Luz with a smirk.
"And Amity?" Luz blushed. She looked away, while rubbing the back of her head, smiling sheepishly.
"I proposed to her."
"What?! No way!" Azara gasped. "How did she take it?"
"She fainted from over excitement." Luz chuckled.
"You should've seen how red her face turned!" King laughed.
"I'm happy for you two." Azara smiled. "You both deserve each other."
"Thanks. I'll let Amity know you said that." Luz smiled back.
Suddenly, Azara felt the worst pain imaginable. It felt like she was being torn apart. She screamed, painfully, and accidentally squeezed Hunter's hand too tight. She shot him a sorry look in her eyes.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to!"
"I'm fine. I had worse." Hunter told her. The healing witch quickly checked Azara again before looking up at her.
"Well, you're definitely ready now. I'm going to need you to start pushing." She instructed her then she looked over at Eda, King and Luz. "I'm afraid that I'm going to have to ask you three to step out for a moment."
"Come on, let's give the two some space." Eda said, heading out of the room as Luz and King followed behind her.
Azara let out a scream as she pushed. Hunter screamed as well as Azara squeezed his hand tightly again. He was surprised that it wasn't broken by now. Azara was drenched in sweat, panting heavily from exhaustion.
"I can't do this anymore! It hurts!" She cried.
"You're almost there. Just one more should do it." The healing witch insisted. Azara shook her head.
"I can't!" She shouted.
"Yes, you can! You have to!" The witch insisted. "One more should do it!"
"You can do it." Hunter assured her. "I know that you can and I'm right here with you."
Azara slowly nodded, taking in a deep breath and pushed with the last remaining of her strength.
The room went silent until Hunter's and Azara's eyes widened as they heard a tiny cry of a baby as it filled the room. The healing coven witch held the baby and wrapped in blankets.
"It's a boy!" She smiled softly, handing the child over to his mother.
Azara carefully took the baby from her and propped her knees up so she could rest the baby on them, to support him. Her and Hunter stared down at their son, surprised to that he looked so much like his father but a little of his mother's traits as well. He had Hunter's blond hair, a small strand hanging from his face, and his smile, Azara's nose and rounded face. His ears were pointed like a witch's but what stood out the most was the baby's eyes. They were both different colors. The left one was green, like Azara's while the right was Fuchsia colored like Hunter's.
Azara smiled softly, looking down at her son, tearing up a little. "He's beautiful." Their son looked up at Hunter and Azara, curiously, reaching out to them, smiling.
"He's so little." Hunter gasped.
"Well, he is a baby." Azara laughed a little. "Our son."
"A son without a name," Hunter sighed as he pointed out. Azara looked down at the bundle of joy in her arms, thinking. There was one that she thought about for a while. She just wondered how Hunter's going to take it.
"There's one that's been on my mind," She told him. Hunter turned, looking at her.
"What is it?" He asked. Azara smiled softly.
"Caleb." Hunter's eyes widened.
"Caleb William Wittebane."
Hunter looked down at his son who was looking back at him, reaching out to him. Hunter made a small smile, holding his son's small hand.
"It fits." He agreed as well.
"Do you want to hold him?" Azara smiled and lifted their son in her arm, cradling him against her chest, holding the baby out to Hunter. Hunter's eyes went even wider and he shook his head.
"No, no, no! He's fine where he is." He insisted. Azara frowned, looking at him.
"Hunter, hold your son." She told him. Hunter shook his head again. Caleb was reaching out to him, smiling. Azara saw that Hunter tensed up a little, with an unsure look in his eyes.
"What's wrong?" She asked him.
"I...I don't...what if I hurt him?" Hunter answered. Azara's eyes widened a little in surprise before she made a small smile.
"Hold your arms out." She told him.
"Why?-" Hunter asked her confused, doing so, before she quickly placed Caleb in his arms. Hunter froze and didn't move a muscle. The baby stared back at him as he laid in Hunter's arms before cracking a smile. Hunter stared back at his son before he smiled as well. He promised himself that he was going to protect it no matter what. Nothing was going to harm their baby. Azara smiled at the two and showed Hunter how to support Caleb's head as he held him some more. Then she felt her eyes starting to get heavier. She was completely exhausted and worn out. Hunter noticed.
"Go ahead and get some rest." He told her. "I'll watch Caleb for bit. I'll go show him to everyone."
"Good." Azara yawned, smiling weakly. "Because I can't move at all right now. I'm completely spent."
The two laughed together while their baby slept in Hunter's arms.
Another growing family watched as they saw, a red tiny baby bird popped out of the egg as it hatched in the nest near his brother and sister, who's eggs were starting to hatch as well. Lil Rascal and Jewel chirped happily, seeing their baby.
