Chapter Two
Lucifer shook his head in clear disbelief. "Now, you're just speaking nonsense, Brother. I think I would remember…that," he said, looking down at Trixie.
"And I would have sensed her if she were a Celestial," Remi said, lifting her head proudly.
"Unless Father shielded her from you, Remiel," Itherael said, meeting his sister's gaze.
"But why would Father even allow a child to be conceived by the Fallen One?"
"So much for your support eh, Sister," Lucifer snapped.
Chloe shook her head. "None of that matters right now, Lucifer. All that truly matters is getting Dan, Remi, and Trixie as far away from Michael as we can."
"You're right, Detectie. Their safety comes first before any sibilant scwables," Lucifer agreed. He looked down at Trixie and brushed his fingers gently across her cheek. "Where would you like to go, Urchin?"
Trixie bit her lip clearly lost in thought. "As much as I loved Rome, that's probably not the best place for me or Aunt Remi to go," Trixie said, smiling up at Remi. "I've always wanted to see Norway and the Northern Lights."
"It'll be cold there, Child," Remi said, returning the warm smile.
"That's true, but I've done my research. We can go to Alta, Norway. There's lots of things there we can do including dog sledding."
Remi frowned as she glanced over at Lucifer. "What is dog sledding?"
"Trust me Sister, you'll love it. I'm assuming you'll meet Dan and the Urchin in Alta?"
"Yes, I refuse to sit for hours inside the human's flying machines."
"As you wish," Lucifer said, pulling out his phone. "There's a flight leaving in four hours. Will that give Dan enough time to pack?"
Chloe quickly nodded her head as she reached for her phone once again. "Yeah, that should be enough time," she said, hitting the call button. "Hey, Dan, listen I need you to come by my apartment. No, we haven't left yet. Yes, we're fine, Dan. I'll tell you what I can once you get here."
"Chlo," Dan called out as he slowly entered the still opened apartment door.
"It's okay, Dan. Come on in, and shut the door please," Chloe said, noticing Dan's hand slowly lifted from his still holstered gun.
"Chloe, what the hell is going on? Who are all these people?"
"That's a long story, Dan. Trix, go pack a bag full of warm clothes," Chloe said, pushing Trix toward her bedroom. "When she's done packing I need you to take her to your apartment, and you need to pack a bag. Don't forget to grab your passport as well. There's a flight out of LAX going to Alta, Norway. The two of you are going to be on that flight."
"Whoa, back up, Chloe. Why am I leaving the country with Trixie? What's going on?"
"Dan, all you need to know right now is that I'm trying to protect you and Trixie. Please just do as I ask. I promise I'll explain everything once it's safe for you to come home."
Dan nodded toward Remi, Itherael, and Lucas. "Who are they?"
"These two are my siblings, Daniel. There isn't a lot of time to explain, but trust the Detective."
"I do trust Chloe, Lucifer. I'm just really confused right now."
"He knows of us as well, Lucifer?"
"Yes, Remi, Daniel is in the club. He knows about us Celestials thanks to my dickhead twin," Lucifer grumbled.
Dan stepped around Lucifer coming to stand in front of her. "Chloe, if you're telling me to leave then I'll leave. But you have to clue me in on why."
"She's trying to save your life Dan, for Trixie," Lucas said, stepping up beside her.
Dan's blue eyes shifted from her to Lucas. "Who are you?"
Chloe sighed and slowly nodded her head. "Go on and tell him. He'll find out eventually."
Lucas sighed and laid his hand gently on her shoulder. "My name is Lucas Morningstar. I'm Chloe and Lucifer's son from the future. I came back here to save not only you, but to hopefully save them as well."
"Are you saying we're all about to die?"
"Eventually, yes, but you were about to be killed in a few days because of this new case. That's why you have to leave, Dan. I'm trying to change your fate, and get your name off of Aunt Azrael's list."
"Okay, wow…" Dan ran a shaky hand through his hair.
"It's a lot I know, but you have to do this, Dan. I can't lose you," Chloe said, grabbing Dan's other hand.
"You should go with them, Detective."
"What…no," Chloe said, glancing over at Lucifer's sad face. She squeezed Dan's hand then stepped up to the man she loved. "I want to stay here with you. Besides, I have a case to solve."
"Another detective can handle it, Detective. I will not put you in harm's way. If Michael's involved, then this case is about more than a human's death. Michael's clearly not above killing humans even if he didn't kill this human himself. If Remi stays, he'll kill her with Azrael's blade."
"You don't know that's what he uses, Lucifer."
"That's the only thing he can use, Detective. There's no demon blades in the Silver City, and Michael despises Hell as much as I do. If he's willing to obliterate Remi's soul, then he won't think twice about doing the same to you. This is going to turn into a war, and I will not allow you to be a casualty, Det…Chloe. Just like you can't lose Dan, I can't lose you, Chloe."
"You won't, Lucifer."
"I will if you stay, Chloe. I need to know that you're safe because…" Lucifer took a deep breath before he slowly knelt down on to one knee removing his ring from his right hand as his knee touched the floor. "Because…I love you, Chloe Jane Decker. You give my immortal life meaning, and you make me a better man. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
Tears filled her eyes as she bit her lip and nodded her head. "Yes, I will marry you." Chloe watched Lucifer slide his ring onto the fourth finger on her left hand. "I love you too, Lucifer Morningstar," she said, kissing his lips as he rose to his full height.
Lucifer sighed and brushed a strand of her blond hair behind her ear. "Now, go get packed, please. You, Dan, and the Urchin have a flight to catch."
"I don't like it, but I'll go," she agreed.
"Thank you," Lucifer said, giving her a sad smile.
Chloe nodded her head then took a step out of his embrace. Her eyes met Trixie's, and she watched a smile spread across her face. She knew Trixie would be happy about the engagement. Had Trixie been standing there the whole time? She glanced at Dan and was pleasantly surprised to see him smiling as well. Smiling herself, she climbed the stars to pack her bag and grab her and Trixie's passports.
