Redemption for the Chameleon chapter two: Welcome to the family.
Camille awoke the next morning with bags under her eyes as she sat up in bed. She hadn't slept well that night with so many thoughts racing through her mind. Camille still wasn't totally convinced that Ron wasn't an axe murder and that may have been one of the things that kept her up but she had also been thinking about what Ron had told her about his employer. An organization that had an effect on nearly every world event was pretty scary. She could be anyone but they could be anywhere and everywhere. And how much of the world around her was fabricated by them?
Camille through the covers back as she kicked her legs over the edge of the bed and placed her bare feet down on the soft carpet as she stood up. Camille took a step forward as she caught her reflection out the corner of her eye in the mirror on the wall beside her bed. Stopping she began to examine herself as she stood there in her lacy pink underwear and bra sense she really didn't have anything else to sleep in.
Camille's tall tanned body was still as slender and fit as ever but to her eye it had lost a bit of its luster. Like her face the skin on the rest of her body had gained subtle lines and wrinkles along with her skin being a tad bit looser. While in her eyes this was a flaw there were men that would prefer the comforting body of a slightly older woman even more.
Camille scoffed and rolled her eyes as she forced the thoughts of self degradation aside before gathering her top and jeans from off the dresser and putting them on. As she made her way down the steps she could have sworn she heard the sound of Ron talking to somebody but when she reached the kitchen she looked across the hall and saw him sitting at the dining room table as he sat reading the morning paper and drinking coffee as he ate breakfast. "Maybe I'm crazy… Or maybe he's a psychopath…" Camille spoke quietly to herself.
As she stepped closer she noticed that there was another cup of coffee and a plate full of food sitting on the table across from him. Had he been expecting her? Slightly cautious Camille stepped closer. He hadn't seemed to notice her and her bare feet on the carpet surly couldn't make any noise but somehow she felt like he knew she was there.
Before she even had the chance to sit down her suspicions were confirmed when he began speaking to her. "I hope you slept well." Ron said without even lowering his newspaper to look at her. Startled, Camille stopped with her hand on the dining chair as she looked wide eyed at him. Or the paper at least sense she couldn't see him past it. "Y-yes." Camille said as confident and cheerfully as she could through her surprise as she took her seat at the table across from him. The bags under her eyes were a testament to the fact that she was lying.
"I see that." Ron said dryly, clearly not convinced but not caring either just as he lowered his paper to look at her. "Heh..." Camille said nervously as she put on her best fake smile before starting on her breakfast. Normally she would have wondered if it had been poisoned but seeing as she had already ate dinner with him last night she doubted it. She than considered the fact that she had been there when they had made their plates but Camille had already began eating so it didn't matter now so she just continued teating.
"Anyways, you're going to need some fresh clothes ." Ron said casually as he folded up his paper. Camille looked up from her food to watch him pull out a credit card and hand it to her. Camille paused for a moment as she looked at him thinking that he surly must be joking. She took a napkin and whipped her mouth as she swallowed before taking the shiny piece of plastic from his hand and looking at it in disbelief as she held it in both hands in front of her. "You do realize who you are handing this to don't you?" Camille asked with sarcastic disbelief as she looked up at him skeptically.
"Whatever you spend I am sure that it will be a small amount. The amount of money you are used to is a trifle when you work for an organization that thrives by sucking the funds from all the world's governments." Ron said with just a hint of sarcasm as he through his hands up with a shrug as he placed an ankle over his knee before leaning back in the chair. Camille just blinked at him a few times unsure of how to respond as she watched him drink his coffee.
"Alright, if you say so…" Camille said after a moment as she placed the card into her pocket. The silence was a bit awkward as Ron didn't say anything else as he finished his coffee while Camille continued eating. After a few moments of the awkward silence a bit of guilt began welling up inside of her as it quickly grew till she couldn't take it anymore. "Thanks." Camille said simply. It was a strange feeling sense she had never uttered those wards so sincerely before. She supposed she had somehow gained a conscience while in prison. "You're welcome." Ron said simply, sounding like her thanks was unneeded for some reason.
After breakfast Camille went back upstairs and put on her boots before making her way back down stairs. "I'm leaving see you when I get back." Camille said hastily as she was about to make her way out the door, eager to finally be able to go spend some cash once again. It had once been her favorite past time. "Hey how do you plan on getting there?" Ron called out. Hearing his question Camille stopped midway out the door and came back inside to look at him with confusion. She hadn't thought of that.
"There is a spare car out in the garage you can use." Ron said as he pointed to the door that led to the garage on the dining room wall. "Oh, thanks." Camille said a bit embarrassed before shutting the front door and making her way out to the garage.
Out in the garage sat a 1981 DMC Delorean shining in sparking glory. Camille smirked with devious delight upon seeing the sporty looking automobile. Camille turned to her left to see that the keys were hanging on the wall. Taking the keys Camille soon got inside as she opened the gull wing door and climbed inside before shutting the door behind her. She soon noticed that the car was a manual. Luckily and perhaps somewhat ironically Camille knew how to drive a manual sense she had been into sporty cars and realized that a manual just made them even more sporty and fun to drive.
Camille turned the key in the ignition as the engine fired up before giving it a few revs. Upon hearing the sounds of the engine Camille smiled deviously before pressing a button on the sun visor, causing the garage door to open as she put the car in gear and made her way out onto the street.
Driving around town Camille had eventually found the mall. She was quite pleased that along the way she had gotten many looks and pictures taken. As much as it reminded her of the good old days she figured that it was the car that they were interested in and not her.
Camille soon parked the car and went inside, her earlier suspicions being confirmed sense no one seemed to care that she was there as she walked around and that was alright with her. As much as she had liked the attention it was nice to not be bombarded by fans and paparazzi. As she walked around she considered what to do. Ron had let her loose with his credit card and she could easily use it to wreck havoc on his finances. She had considered it but she knew that it was wrong to take advantage of what she believed to be his kindness. And besides she didn't really want to take the chances of going back to prison or worse.
Camille decided rather than rebuild her old life on his dime she would just get a new wardrobe and a simple makeover at the salon, along with other simple things that she would need. …Or maybe want…
Later that night Ron was sitting in the living room with the fireplace going as he was in the middle of a secure video call with his employer and mentor, Jack Giri. "So yea I think she would make a good addition to the team." Ron said confidently. "I got to say I'm impressed that you would stick your neck out for someone like that. You must like her." The man on the other end of the line teased. "What? No! I mean she is kind of hot but I'm not trying to sleep with her or anything." Ron began to ramble nervously and blushed as he had trouble looking at the older man on the other end of the line. The older man began to laugh at Ron's reaction. "Well good, see that you don't. I'll have Wade pull up her file and I'll take a look at it. I'll send transport to bring you two to the base in the morning. In the meantime, don't do anything I wouldn't do." The man said ending with a highly amused and slightly devious smirk. "Oh would you look at the time I got to go bye!" Ron blurted out quickly before ending the call and placing his phone back into his pocket and hanging his head with a sigh of relief.
Just then Ron heard the sound of a car pulling into the garage, shortly fallowed by the sound of the door out in the dining room opening as Camille made her way into the house. Camille walked inside and looked around, soon finding Ron in the living room which was just to the left of the dining room. "Oh there you are, I could use your help brining in my shopping." Camille said cheerfully.
Ron looked and took in the sight that was Camille. It was clear that she had gotten her hair and nails done and was wearing some fresh makeup. She was wearing a white sweater with matching pants, knee high brown leather boots, a puffy blue vest with white feather ear rings and large white framed sunglasses on top of her head.
"So my employer wants to meet you." Ron said ignoring her request for the time being. "What…?" Camille said as she froze being totally caught off guard before her mind started to run wild causing her blood to turn to ice. What did he want with her? Did he want to interrogate her? She didn't like the idea of being thrown back in a cell. She disliked the idea of being tortured or dissected even more.
Ron noticed the panic on her face and decided to elaborate. "The Boss wants to do an evaluation to see if we could use you in our organization. He is sending a transport in the morning to come pick us up." Ron said planely. "And if I refuse?" Camille said like a defiant toddler as she pouted and crossed her arms. As amusing and perhaps even cute as her reaction was he had gone out of his way to tell his boss and mentor about her and suggest that she be brought into the fold so having her refuse would look bad on his part and just would not do. Ron typically didn't like to use intimidation tactics however he would begrudgingly have to admit he took a small sadistic pleasure in it when he was forced to do so. "I suppose I could have the transport guards drag you along by your hair. Don't think the Boss would appreciate the hassle however." Ron said somewhat darkly with a devious smile as he ended with a chuckle.
Camille gasped in shock and fright as she placed her hands on her head as she imagined the pain of being dragged by her hair. That alone was enough to convince her but the tone of his voice, the smile, and the chuckle absolutely terrified her and gave her strong axe murdering psychopath vibes. Camille thought of running but she knew that she wouldn't get far. She was stuck in this situation and along with whatever that may bring. "Alright alright! I'll go! Just don't axe murder me!" Camille pleased as she clasped her hands together desperately. "What?" Ron asked with bewildered confusion. "Oh, um, nothing…" Camille said smiling nervously with her hands behind her back as she tried to play it off. "Right… Anyways, how about a drink." Ron said as he walked over to the bar that was along the back wall of the living room and poured two glasses of scotch.
Camille looked at the glass nervously as Ron held it out to her. "What, you don't drink?" Asked Ron. "It's not poisoned is it?" Camille asked nervously. "Camille, if I wanted to kill you you would be dead already." Ron deadpanned. "Oh, right..." Camille said with a nervous chuckle before taking the glass and having a drink of the enticing looking brown liquid.
Upon taking her first sip Camille quickly spit it out as it did not taste good at all. "Hey you jerk! You said this wasn't poisoned!" Camille shouted as she pointed at the drink angrily. Ron deadpanned. He could tell having Camille around would be more of a headache than he had bargained for. Ron took the drink from her hand and downed it before returning to his own glass. Camille just looked at him stunned. "So it was just disgusting?! How can he drink that garbage?" Camille thought to herself as she cringed with disgust.
Camille awoke the next morning having slept a little better than the night before, but not by much. At least after yesterday's shopping spree she had plenty of fresh clothes and wouldn't have to wear the same thing every day. Prison orange was so not her color and the one outfit she had beforehand was so ten years ago. Given she didn't actually know what was trendy these days but she knew what she liked.
Kicking off the covers Camille got up to reveal that she was wearing a set of white silk pajamas. Camille then opened her door and began walking to the bathroom to go take a shower. The bathroom being the second door on the right. The first being Ron's office, and the third one being his room. Stepping inside the upstairs bathroom she quickly stripped out of her night clothing and underwear before turning on the shower and stepping inside.
Back downstairs Ron was making breakfast and wishing she would hurry up and come down already, she had gotten in the shower over an hour ago and their escort would be here at any time now. As Ron finished breakfast Camille finally Camille down wearing a white baggy sweater, tight blue jeans, blue earrings and the same brown leather boots from before. "You're late." Ron scolded. "As if. The food is still warm." Camille scoffed clearly being able to see the steam coming off the food. "I just made it cuz I knew you wouldn't be down for a while!" Ron nearly shouted with irritation. "If you just made it then I'm not late you buffoon!" Camille replied in the same manner. Both glared at each other for a moment before huffing and turning their backs on each other with crossed arms.
Shortly after breakfast the transport arrived to take them to the base. Camille was still pretty nervous as two men in swat type uniforms tuned up at the house in a black car and proceeded to take them to a private air field. From there they bored a black helicopter on their way to who knows where? She sure didn't. The flight took a few hours and they had been somewhere over the ocean for most of the trip when what looked like an island came into view.
"Were approaching mother base." Called back the pilot. Camille was amazed to see what looked like a large beautiful tropical island with a large metal structure along the coast. She assumed that was where they were headed. Her suspicions were confirmed when they landed on a large helipad protruding from the side of the structure.
As the door opened the two armed guards that had been with them got off first, followed by Ron. Ron then turned to help Camille as he offered her his hand. She looked at it a bit hesitantly before taking it and disembarking from the helicopter. Camille was than a bit frightened when she saw a woman fallowed by three armed guards approaching them.
The woman wore a skin tight body suit with two short katanas hanging from her hips. Her suit was the colors black and grey, the same colors as the guards had been wearing. On the suit just above the woman's right breast was an insignia of a tank inside a black octagon with a grey border and below the tank were the letters MM, also in grey. The woman herself had a very powerful and intimidating presence as she sashayed over with one hand on her hip and the other swaying from side to side as she walked. She had Piercing green eyes, long raven hair, and oddly enough… Green skin.
"Ah Shego you really must have missed me if you came all this way just to see me." Ron said sarcastically as he approached the woman with open arms, almost like he was greeting an old friend. "Well I had considered giving you a hug but I think that I just might give you a smack. You know I hate it when you call me that." The woman said back with an amused smirk. "Whatever Brandi. It is good to see you too." Ron said with an amused smirk, placing his hands back down by his sides as they stepped closer to each other before stopping a little over a foot away, Brandi just smirking back with her arms crossed.
"Anyways, I take it this is the new recruit. She doesn't look like much." Brandi said as she glanced over at Camille with a scrutinizing gaze. Camille wanted to protest but one look at other woman's sharp piercing eyes shut that right down. "Oh she might not look like much but she has special talents." Ron said confidently. Brandi smirked with great amusement as she thought that her special talents were sure to include pole and lap dancing. "That would be good to know… You know Jack doesn't tell me anything, I'm only third in command." Brandi said a bit bitterly as she shrugged her shoulders.
"Careful there Shego, you are turning green with envy." Ron teased with a chuckle. "That's because I'm green ass hole!" Brandi shouted. "Anyways, the boss sent me to come get you." Said Brandi before turning and walking away as the group fallowed her. "You sure it wasn't just to see an old friend?" Ron teased lightly as he walked beside her. "Pft! In your dreams lover boy." Brandi said dryly.
The group walked into the complex as they soon came to a strong looking sliding steel door. The guards that had been with them went to stand in a line on either side of the door as it opened and they saluted them as Camille fallowed Ron and Brandi into the dark room. Camille jumped slightly as she heard the door shut behind her. Camille then took notice to a man with a man bun in a long brown leather coat talking to a woman with an eye patch and short brown hair on a large screen that was on the far wall.
"I'm sorry Betty buy I really don't think he would be interested in working for you. Not only would he be forced to be near someone who turned their back on him but you can't even afford him. Just one of his pay checks is more than your yearly budget." The man said in a deep voice with an amused smirk. Betty gritted her teeth as she clenched her fists and looked away. The Global Justice leader hated being called by her real name and she wondered how he could possible know it.
"Anyways I hate to cut our little tea party short but I simply have more important matters to attend to." The man said quite smugly. "Hey wait a minute I will not be…!" Betty began to protest before being cut off.
As the man turned around Camille could see that he was in his early 40's judging by the lines in his face and the slight greying in his beard. Inside his overcoat she could see that he wore some sort of an armored vest that was form fitted, even showing the shape of abdominal muscles in it. Peeking out the coat she could see the handle of a large silver revolver strapped to his chest. The rest of his attire consisted of black cargo pants and black combat boots.
Camille than looked around the room as she noticed the presence of five other people in the room with them. One of them was second in command and head of logistics, Francheska Miller, a very busty woman who seemed to have seen extensive combat as she appeared to be missing an arm and a leg as she stood with the aid of a crutch. She had shoulder length curly blonde hair and bright red lipstick. Her attire was similar to her boss' with a long tan overcoat, under that she wore a green formal vest, a white dress shirt with a red tie and a green beret with her groups insignia on it. She also may have been blind due to the fact that she was wearing sunglasses in a dark room.
Next to her was Felix Renton, head of the R&D department. His uniform was similar to the guards except there was no mask or helmet to hide his face. And his uniform had no sleeves showing off the fact that he had metal arms, and probably metal legs sense he wasn't in a wheelchair like he had been in his youth. His hair was long and in a ponytail and he also had a bushy mustache and a rather long strip of hair on his lower lip.
Next to Felix was Wade load, head of the intell team. He was a rather tall and muscular man with long dread locks and dark colored skin. His uniform was much the same as Felix's with the exception of having sleeves.
Beside Wade was Bonnie Rockwaller, head of the dispatch team and in charge of troop training. Her attire was different from her male colleges. It was of the same black and grey colors but it resembled more of a work out or track suit with the top half partly unzipped to reveal a white spaghetti strap tank top. She had her shoulder length brown hair down in the back but also had a short pony tail just above that. She also wore an ear piece in her ear with a small microphone attached to it.
And then of course there was last but not least the woman formerly known as Shego, Brandi Go, who was third in command and head of base security and also currently standing suspiciously close to Jack. But Camille had already met her.
"Ah shalom my friend." The Boss said smiling as he greeted Ron with the traditional Jewish greeting. "It is nice to see you as well Jack." Ron said with a smile as he greeted his friend and mentor Jack Giri as he shook his hand. "Camille I would like for you to meet everyone. This is Jack Giri, Francheska Miller, Felix Renton, Wade Load, Bonnie Rockwaller. And Shego you have already met." Ron said introducing his friends with a smile.
Felix, Wade, And Bonnie all said hello and waved to Camille while Jack and Francheska didn't say anything, and Brandi just grumbles as she was being called by the name she did not like. "Hello…" Camille said as she waved back nervously.
"So this is Camille the chameleon Leon. It is nice to meet you." Greeted Jack. "So you have heard of me?" Camille asked a bit nervously. In truth she didn't know if she should be nervous or a bit pleased that someone recognized her. "Not until now, no. But I had Wade pull your file." Jack said as he walked over and picked up a file off the table in the middle of the room. "Turns out that you were once a wealthy heiress of a cat food corporation. If I had realized there was so much money in cat food we would be in that business and not this one am I right fellas?" Jack said ending with a joke to which Camille Chuckled nervously, the others except Francheska chucked, and Brandi laughed suspiciously loudly.
"That is until your father disowned you and gave your birth right to your younger sister Tiffany. From there you turned to a life of crime, choosing to undergo experimental plastic surgery to turn you into a shape shifter and framed your fellow celebrities for the crimes you committed until you were stopped by then teen hero Kim possible, the former best friend of your now friend Ron stoppable. From there you spent ten years in prison and let go without need for parole due to good behavior. Oh and your mother died of cancer when you were seven." Jack concluded before closing the file. Camille was shocked. Not that he knew of her abilities or crimes but the fact he knew of her sister Tiffany. She had never told anyone that her father loved her younger sister Tiffany more and thus gave her her birth right.
Jack than let out a sigh as he tossed he tossed the folder back on the table before placing his hands on the table and looked down as he shook his head before looking back up at her. "As tragic of a backstory as that is I'm afraid we simply have no use for you." Jack said with clear sarcasm. Camille gulped nervously as Jacks face hardened. "I'm sorry to have to do this but you have seen too much and have to be terminated. It's nothing personal you understand?" Jack said in an unremorseful and business like tone.
Camille's blood turned to ice as she began to shake with fear, slowly backing away towards the door. Her mind went into overdrive as she tried to formulate an escape plan. If she could get out the room she could disguise herself as one of the guards or someone else but then there was the matter of getting off the base. It seemed like she may be screwed.
Before Camille had a chance to finish that though however Jack began to smile. "I'm just kidding! Welcome to the family." Jack said in a hardy tone as some of the members of the room began to laugh. Camille chucked nervously as she looked around the room feeling a bit like a little lost sheep surrounded by a pack of hungry wolves. These people were INSANE for pulling such a cruel trick on her. "You will begin training immediately." Jack informed her.
"Training? W-what sort of training?" Camille asked nervously. "Well first you will start with just basic combat training but we will teach you everything you need to know in time." Jack told her somewhat cryptically. "Oh, and we will be setting you up with a house here on the island." Jack continued. "A house?" Camille asked curiously. "Yes, with you training every day it wouldn't make any sense for you to fly here every morning." Jack informed her. Camille just looked stunned. She had no clue what she was getting herself into but it didn't sound pleasant.
"Bonnie if you would like to start training our newest recruit?" Jack prompted. "Yes Boss." Replied Bonnie. "I'll come too." Said Ron. "I might as well tag along, could use a bit of training myself." Brandi said with a shrug.
With that the group began to make their way out the door as Camille fallowed. "Wait, before you go… Mind giving us a demonstration? For my own curiosity if nothing else." Jack prompted. Camille looked nervous, it had been a while sense she had used her shape shifting ability and never had anyone asked her to demonstrate it before. She also didn't like the idea as it made her feel like some freaky side show attraction. "Go on, there is no need to be shy." Jack said softly with a warm smile.
Camille found his now gentle behavior to be quite strange as it was completely opposite of what she had seen of the man just a moment ago. Still it did seem to have a calming effect on her. Camille took a deep breath before beginning to shift, her body, hair, and skin morphing until she looked like an exact duplicate of Jack with the exception of her clothes. Camille could not morph her clothes or her bone structure, which meant her height couldn't change, however she could change her voice and she was a tall 5'9 which was about the same as Jack.
Upon seeing this Jack began to laugh a deep hearty laugh. "Very good! I have high hopes for you." Jack said with a well pleased smile. The other people in the room also looked impressed with the exception of Francheska. Camille shifted back into herself and laughed nervously. "Um, thanks I guess…?" Camille said with quiet nervousness.
"Now right this way if you would please." Bonnie said impatiently as she gestured towards the door. "Ah poor Bon Bon, as impatient as ever." Ron teased as he placed his hands on his hips and shook his head. "I told you to stop calling me that!" Shouted Bonnie to which Ron just chuckled. Camille took notice to the way Ron had interacted with both Brandi and Bonnie and wondered if he had something going on with them currently or in the past or if they were just good friends. Camille wondered why she cared, it wasn't like she had a thing for him.
"Don't get your panties in a wad." Brandi teased with a chuckle. "Ah save it for the lunch table SHEGO." Bonnie replied indignantly before turning and waking out the room as Brandi grumbled as she fallowed the group out the door.
Once the group was out the door Jack turned to Wade. "You erase her record?" Asked Jack. Wade pulled out a tablet and began doing something on the screen. "Done." Wade said confidently. "Good. Now as far as the world is concerned Camille Leon is just another person." Jack said before returning to whatever pressing matters he had to deal with.
As Camille walked with the group she continued to wonder what she had gotten herself into. One day she was a wealthy heiress than the next she was a criminal. She spent the next ten years in prison and somehow within the span of two days she had become a member of some secret organization. Truth be told she wanted to run, surly she could simply become someone else. But she doubted they would just let her escape with their secret. No, they would just track her down and kill her. Like it or not this was her new life. Whatever that may be.
Camille was snapped from her thoughts when she heard Bonny say; "Were here". Camille looked up as they walked through another medal sliding door. As they did so Brandi slid off by herself while Ron and Camille fallowed Bonnie to the front desk. "Got a new recruit, need some gear for her." Bonnie said leaning over the front desk. The soldier at the front desk simply saluted Bonnie before handing her a bag from under the table. As Bonnie handed Camille the bag Camille looked at the bag with surprise before looking nervously at Bonnie.
Camille stood with a deadpanned face as she was now in a training cell sporting the contents of the bag. Combat boots baggy camo pants, tight camo tank top, and a camo military style cap. "I look like something from Britney Spears' boot camp." Camille grumbled with irritation. "Oh quit complaining, you look fine." Bonnie said with crossed arms. "Yup, don't try to out complain Bonnie. She is the queen of complaining." Ron teased as he pointed to Bonnie with his thumb. "Shut up Ron!" Bonnie shouted.
Bonnie then took notice that Brandi was in the training cell next to them. "Watch this. You're in for a show." Bonnie said as she brought them over to the edge of the cell which was only separated from the next cell by a large glass wall.
On the other side the trio could see Brandi preparing. Brandi took a deep breath before reaching across her sides and drawing her swords and twirling them in her ands once they were drawn. Brandi's eyes than began to glow before erupting in green fire as did her swords shortly after. The ceiling then opened up to reveal several .50 cal. machine gun turrets and the wall opened up as a small army of terminator like robots stepped forward.
As the machine guns began to fire Brandi leapt forward at a speed the human eye could not see as she left a trail of green fire on the floor in her wake. She quickly began jumping, twisting, and spinning as she sliced the robots into several small pieces all while dodging the machine gun fire. Once the robots were taken care of she dodged another incoming wave of bullets before beginning to deflect the shots with her swords. Dodging back out the path of incoming bullets gave her just enough time that allowed her to direct two slashed at the turrets, sending two blade like trails of green fire from her swords which impacted the turrets and destroyed them. Brandi looked barely out of breath once she was done.
Bonnie and Ron began clapping as Camille's jaw hit the floor as she stood unable to believe what she had just saw. Brandi extinguished her eyes and swords as she put them away before turning to her audience and rubbing the back of her head sheepishly as she blushed with embarrassment.
"You expect me to be able to do that!?" Exclaimed Camille as she turned to Ron and Bonnie. "Of course not. You're just starting basic training." Bonnie said in what would be a typical Bonnie fashion as she looked past Ron to Camille out the corner of her eye. "Yup you're just a noob." Ron teased with a bright smile. Camille just grumbled. While she hated hard work her pride was driving her to want to show them she was not to be underestimated.
Camille laid on the ground tired and out of breath. She had never worked so hard in her life. "Oh come one I barely hit you." Bonnie said as she stood over Camille with crossed arms as she looked unimpressed. "Lighten up Bonnie it's her first day." Ron said calmly. "Alright fine, that's enough for today. Go get cleaned up than we will have someone show you to your living accommodations." Bonnie said sounding displeased before walking off.
"You ok?" Ron asked with concern as he looked down at Camille. "Help me up." Camille said as she stretched her arm out to him. Once Ron had helped her up Camille began dusting herself off. "You people are insane." Camille grumbled. "Hey, please don't be mad at Bonnie she means well. She's just a slave driver because she sees potential in you." Ron said sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his head. He decided not to tell Camille that Bonnie was actually going quite easy on her. Or the fact Bonnie was a slave driver with everyone. She was tough but she got results.
"Why, do you two have something going on or something?" Camille asked accusingly as she finished dusting herself off. "Me and Bonnie?" Ron asked with surprise. "Were just good friends. I have known Bonnie sense high school. She actually used to be a real bitch and bully me a lot, but… Well that's all in the past." Ron said waving a dismissive hand. "Yea well she still seems like a bitch to me. Ever consider that she used to bully you because she had a crush on you?" said Camille with irritation.
Ron wanted to defend Bonnie but he got sidetracked by the second thing Camille had said. "Bonnie? Crush on me? Doubt it. She was the school queen and I was pretty much a nobody." Ron said with surprise. "Could have been just a cover up. Anyways I'm off to go find a shower. I guess I'll see you around?" Camille asked somewhat hopefully. "Yea, see you around." Ron said as he watched her walk off.
After Camille got out the shower she changed back into her normal clothes and walked out of the locker room where she was met by a soldier who said he was going to take her to her living accommodations. Camille fallowed them through the base till they got into a silver Jeep Wrangler 4 door and drove off base. As they drove off base Camille looked in wonder at the beauty of the island.
The drive wasn't super long but Camille had plenty of time to admire her surroundings. She was amazed to see that outside the base that the island looked like any other tropical location with a wealthy and thriving population with the exception that everyone seemed to carry guns.
They soon arrived at the location that she would be staying. It was a small tropical looking house near the woods with a two tone white and red 78 Ford Bronco parked in the driveway. Getting out the Jeep a soldier handed Camille a set of keys. "Here is the keys to your house and truck. And welcome to the team." The man said before driving off with her fellow soldiers.
Camille looked at the house and her new truck. The location was beautiful but the house was pretty small and the truck wasn't nearly as nice as the car Ron had let her drive but this is what she had right now.
Unlocking the front door and walking inside Camille began to take a look around. The house was very small indeed with the kitchen, living, and dining area being one big open area. There was than two bedrooms, one larger and one smaller, as well as a small bathroom. Camille had mixed feeling about the house. One hand it was small and cramped, on the other it was a lot better than a jail cell and the location surrounding the house was beautiful. Camille recalled a time where she would have definitely complained about her living accommodations but ten years in prison had a way of changing a person.
Walking into the bedroom Camille noticed a book on the two person bed. Upon closer inspection she could see that the book was bound in black leather and said "Holey Bible" on the front of it. Camille picked up the book curiously as she quickly flipped through the pages. "Eh, I'll look at it later if I get bored." Camille said with a shrug before placing the book down on the night stand beside her bed.
As of right now Camille was realizing that her current choice of clothing was not a good one for this climate. Back in America it had been in the middle of fall but here it felt like the middle of summer but she figured it was probably always this hot here. She needed some new clothes and then she remembered that she still had Ron's credit card.
Deciding to go shopping Camille grabbed her keys and went out to her truck before getting in. Looking around at the red interior she supposed it wasn't so bad, she did like the feeling of being high up and it did have a manual. Firing up the engine and rolling down the windows Camille backed out her driveway and made her way into town.
Meanwhile Ron was having lunch with his friends as they sat at a long table by themselves in the lunch room. Ron sat on the left of Brandi with Felix on her right. Across from Felix was Wade who sat next to Bonnie and Bonnie sat across from Brandi.
"I don't know what he sees in that one armed, one legged big boobed bimbo! I should be second in command not her!" Exclaimed Brandi. "Hey that's not very Christ like of you Brandi." Wade chastised. "Yea well neither is this!" Brandi shouted as she grabbed a hand full of peas and through them at him. "Hey don't start a food fight in here! You know we will have to clean it up." Wade said as he laughed. "Then don't throw anything back." Brandi said before sticking her tongue out at him.
"You're just jealous Shego." Felix said with amusement. "Face it, you don't care as much about the spot as you do about feeling threatened by the competition." Bonnie pointed out as she pointed a fork at Brandi. "What do you mean?" Brandi asked suspiciously. "Don't play dumb with us. Everyone knows you have it bad for Jack." Said Bonnie before returning to her food. "I do not!" Brandi said a bit too loudly and defensively for it to be believable. The fact that her face was turning even greener with embarrassment didn't help her case either.
It was then that the group of friends noticed that Ron seemed to be deep in thought and not paying attention to their conversation. "Something wrong Ronnie?" Bonnie asked in a concerned yet slightly teasing tone. "Huh? Oh it's nothing." Ron said. "It's Camille isn't it?" Wade asked with suggestive amusement. "No!" Ron said defensively. "Aww Ronnie's got a little crush." Bonnie teased. "I do not!" Shouted Ron. "It's ok dude. I'd bang her myself if I had the chance." Said Felix. "Now that wasn't very Christ like." Brandi said sounding unamused as she folded her hands in front of her. "Hey I was only kidding." Felix said putting his hands up.
"Well I think it's a good thing. Help you to finally get over Kim." Said Wade. "I been over Kim wade." Ron said dryly. "Oh really? Then how come you haven't had a girlfriend sense?" Asked Bonnie. "I don't know. Like you said I'm a looser." Ron said defensively and with a bit of sarcasm. "You're not a looser Ron. I only said those things back in high school because I was a bitch and had a bit of a crush on you." Said Bonnie before taking another bite of her food.
Both Wade and Felix gasped while Ron looked shocked. So Camille was right. "Wait, what? Why would you? And why didn't you ever say anything?" Asked Ron. "You kidding? How many teenagers are known for helping to save the world? That's totally sexy. As for the why, there was the chain. I might have been on top but I didn't make the rules. You really should have been on the top all things considered but maybe it was because you lacked confidence then? Also I was just a messed up teenage girl, so please excuse me for not knowing how to treat you." Said Bonnie.
"So was Ron the real reason for your rivalry with Kimmy?" Asked Shego. "Well partly. I did like him and I was jealous that she had someone who cared about her. But then there was the chain and the fact that she was just little miss perfect." Said Bonnie. "Yea, well too bad for her she through that all away." Said Brandi as she patted Ron on the shoulder. "I still can't believe Kim wouldn't forgive you." Said Wade. "Sin will do that to you. Make your heart bitter and angry." Said Felix. "Yea…" Said both girls as they hung their heads, remembering how bitter and angry they used to be.
"So what are you going to do?" Asked Wade. "What you mean?" Asked Ron. "About Camille." Said Bonnie. "What about her?" Asked Ron. "Well you care about her right?" Asked Brandi. "I guess so." Ron said with a shrug. "Dude you're not going back to the states are you? You should stay to help Camille. Besides we don't get to see you that often." Said Felix. "I agree, you're such a stranger." Said Brandi. "It's not good for you to be by yourself. Stay with your friends. Besides someone is going to have to help me with Camille." Said Bonnie.
"So she's that bad?" Asked Wade. "I mean… Kinda, maybe? I mean I'm sure that she will improve. Just might take a little longer than most people." Bonne said with a shrug. "I could help if you want." Brandi teased with a devious smirk as she ignited a finger. "No threatening my students!" Bonnie shouted.
Ron thought about it for a minute. Maybe his friends were right. Maybe he wasn't totally over Kim and that it was bad for him to be alone. And maybe Camille did need some help. Just then Ron remembered that she still had his credit card and he needed to get that back. "Alright guys, I'll stay." Said Ron. All his friends smiled and cheered.
Later that evening Camille got home from her shopping. She was currently wearing tight knee length shorts, tight pink spaghetti strap tank top with a white border and a blue heard between the breasts and it showed off her mid drift. On her feet were brown leather flip flops and on her head was a paor of large frame white sunglasses and on her ears large gold hoop earrings. Her long blonde hair was tied back in a ponytail with a few bangs covering her forehead.
She was pleased that everyone around town was real nice and welcoming to her. Some even invited her out to church, which was something she wasn't sure about. It just seemed like something else that she would be forced to do, and being part of some crazy cult wasn't something that appealed to her.
Camille was snapped from her thoughts when she heard the sound of a Jeep outside. She turned to look but could not make out any faces due to the fact that the sun had just gone down and it was dark outside. She watched as a figure got out the Jeep as it drove off. She watched as said figure walked up to the house and as he stepped onto the front porch the face became illuminated to show the face of Ron Stoppable.
Ron simply entered the house without knocking like he had lived there. "So how was your day darling?" Ron asked in a slightly sarcastic tone. "Humph! What are you doing here? Couldn't you have at least knocked first?" Camille asked in a snarky manner as she placed a hand on her hip. "Well I couldn't just let you keep my credit card now could I? And besides, the Boss tasked me with keeping an eye on you." Ron said with an amused smirk as he took a step forward. Jack hadn't actually come up with the plan, his other friends had but Jack okayed it.
"Wait, are you saying you're going to be living here now?" Camille asked as she took a nervous step back. "I don't know, I might grace you with my presence. That's not a problem is it?" Ron asked as he continued to step closer to Camille as she nervously backed away. Soon enough finding her back was against the wall and he was inches from her. "Is it?" Ron asked again in a husky voice as he moved his face closer to hers while Camille trembled nervously.
"Stop messing with me you psychopath!" Camille shouted as she began hitting him on the head, chest, and shoulders. "Ouch, ok! I was only playing." Ron said as he covered his face and backed away. "Oh you are so funny." Camille said dryly. "Anyways, here's your card back. You can stay with me but don't you think for a moment that you're going to be sleeping in the same bed as me you creep." Camille said as she handed him back his card. She wasn't exactly sure why she had agreed to let him stay. Maybe it was because he had let her stay with him.
"I wouldn't dream of it." Ron said with a cheerful smile. "You mean you would only dream of it." Camille said with an irritated smile. "So what's for dinner?" Camille asked in an almost demanding way. "Wait, what!?" Exclaimed Ron. "Dinner. If you're going to stay here you might as well make yourself useful." Said Camille. She had to admit she liked his cooking.
"Why did you get so bossy all of a sudden?" Exclaimed Ron. "My house, my rules." Camille said crossing her arms as she glared at him. "You're house? You wouldn't even be here if it weren't for me!" Exclaimed Ron. "Oh save it. I don't even have a clue what you have gotten me into." Said Camille. Ron wanted to protest some more but instead he just stood there staring at her. Maybe she had a point. He had told her a little bit about how the organization was run but not about what it stood for.
Later that night at the dinner table Ron decided to tell her a bit more about their organization. "So what is the name of this organization again?" Camille asked as she seemed more interested in her dinner then the conversation. "Were the Minute Men. We…" Ron began before he was cut off. "The Minute Men? What are we going backward in time?" Camille asked sarcastically. "As I was saying…" Ron said indignantly. "Sorry." Camille said rolling her eyes.
"We are essentially world police more than we are a mercenary outfit. And we stand for all things pure and holy. Our goal while perhaps impossible is to end all forms of evil, no matter how small and save as many souls as possible and give them a chance at redemption." Ron said proudly. "Noble. I noticed a bible on my bed when I got in. A bunch of people also asked me to church when I was out in town earlier today. Seems a lot like a cult if you ask me." Camille said only somewhat teasingly. "Were not a cult! However the bible is a staple of our society and our laws and regulations are founded on its principles." Said Ron.
"So it's a cult." Camille said dryly as she looked up at him from her plate. "It's not a cult!" Ron exclaimed as he slammed his fists down on the table. "Whatever." Camille said with a giggle before returning to her dinner. Ron let out a defeated sigh before returning to his dinner.
The dinner table was silent for a few minutes before Camille began to speak again. "So the laws are like, super strict?" Asked Camille. "Well sort of, depending on the law. We don't have a lot of laws you would find in a normal society, mostly pertaining to taxes and automotive laws such as speed limits and traffic citations. But most of the laws we do have are punished either by death or being kicked off the island or even out of the organization in some cases." Said Ron.
Camille soon began choking on her food. "You alright?" Ron asked with concern as he stood up and motioned towards her. Camille was able to regain her composure as she took a drink of her water. "Excuse me, did you say death?" Camille asked with shock. Surely she had misheard him. "That's right. Things such as murder, stealing, treason, rape, and cheating on your spouse are punished by death. Other things like drugs with the exception of marijuana will get you kicked off the island." Said Ron as he sat back down. "That's insane!" Shouted Camille. "Not really." Ron said casually as he shook his head.
"So what I did would have got me killed here?" Camille asked with shock. "You mean impersonating your friends and neighbors and framing them for crimes? Most definitely. Not to mention you would have most likely got other people killed as well." Said Ron. "So why am I even allowed to here?" Asked Camille. "I told you, our goal is to offer people redemption. But you only get one chance." Ron said as he held a finger up.
"You people are insane." Camille said dryly before finishing her dinner. "Judge if you want but the record speaks for its self, there is no crime here. Like, ever." Said Ron. "Ok so what about things like drunk driving?" Asked Camille. Drunk driving is illegal but it won't get you killed. That is, unless you kill someone that is. Or crash and kill yourself. Alcohol is perfectly legal except if you are an alcoholic, then you will be kicked off the island and put into rehab until you are better. Same thing with drugs. Not that that is something that is easy to get a hold of on this island. Trade is strictly monitored." Said Ron. "And if you are found to be an alcoholic again?" Asked Camille. "Then you will be kicked off the island for good." Said Ron.
"So wait, you can just leave the island? Asked Camille." Yea, why wouldn't you?" Asked Ron. "I don't know? I figured they would kill you for knowing too much information." Camille said with a shrug. "No one is forced to be a member of this organization. You can leave at any time. And I told you, our organization isn't a secret, it's just not well known." Said Ron.
Camille thought for a moment. That meant that she was free to go whenever she wanted. She had no obligation to be here. Still Camille decided that perhaps she would stick around and see what it was all about. While her living conditions weren't amazing the surrounding area was beautiful and it sure was a lot better than being in prison or being homeless.
