A note from Lightning
These are the last few moments of Doc's life. Sally and I began to hear the death rattle in the middle of the night. Sal went in to be with him as the death rattle got progressively louder and his breathing began to labor. Around 6 AM that morning Sally came back to the cone and woke me up. She could tell he was going to pass within the hour so she said to go ahead and go be with him in his final moments here on this earth.

"Shhhhhh Doc. I'm right here." I soothed to him. His breathing slowed steadily, each breath becoming slower and further apart from the next.
"Go be with the manufacturer. Go play with the angels. It's okay to let go now." I whispered as tears began to form in my windscreen. I felt him slipping away, and fast. I turned my thoughts to something calming. So I softly sung,
Nearer my God to thee
Nearer to thee
E'en though it be a cross
That raiseth me.
Still then my soul shall be
Nearer my God to thee
Nearer my God to thee
Nearer to thee.
It was as I began the second verse that Doc took his final breath and finally passed away.
O'er if on a joyful wing
Cleaving the sky
Sun, moon, and stars forgot
Upwards I fly
Still then my soul shall be
Nearer my God to thee
Nearer my God to thee
Nearer to thee.
I said a few final things to Doc. I knew he was already ascended, but I knew in his peaceful passing, his soulrests eternally with me. We love you Doc. Until we meet again. In this world or the next.
