Chapter 36 Rebel Spirit

It's been a couple weeks since the whole Zillo Beast incident.

Thankfully the Legion was able to get the scales to make improvements to their largest cruisers.

After that Sean and Korra decided to head back to Earth to relax and have Tenzin finish her spiritual training.

When they arrived back they learned a few things.

One of which was that the council was disbanded since people felt that system didn't work anymore. So an election for a President was put into place.

Dooku was one of the candidates but unfortunately lost to a man named Raiko. (Here we go again)

And then there was the fact Asami's company was having issues because of her father who she refused to see again after he was captured.

The main issue was that other companies refused to work with her because of her father so business was down and she refused to make weapons to sell to the Legion not wanting to be like her father.

Secondly Bumi had retired from the United forces to live with his brother and his family.

Though obviously the younger sibling was very annoyed by this.

And Mako got a job with the Police since Lin got her bending back.

Though there were still issues with her for Sean and Korra for obvious reasons.

Right now though.

Sean chuckled watching Korra race against Ikki and Meelo while Jinora sat next to him cradling her daughter who cooed.

Thats when Korra went into the avatar State to speed up past the finish line.

"The Avatar is the winner!" Bumi cheered.

Korra grinned as she picked up her daughter.

"Who's the best Avatar?" Korra asked.

"Momma!" Bastila said making her giggle.

"Heh." Sean said before Ikki rushed to them.

"NO FAIR! You cheated with the Avatar state!" Ikki whined making her grin.

"You did what?" Tenzin asked walking to them.

"Way to go." Sean said.

"The Avatar State is not to be used as a booster rocket. You are toying with a dangerous power that you obviously do not appreciate." Tenzin said.

"Whatever." Sean said.

"It's the Avatar State, And I'm the Avatar. Who appreciates more than me?" Korra asked.

"Clearly, you need more training to grasp the depths of your spiritual connections." Tenzin said.

"I disagree when she's used that power to aid in this war." Tarkin said.

"See? Besides I've used the Avatar state dozen of times in the war. I have a near perfect control of it." Korra said as she demonstrated her bending powers.

"Looks pretty good to me." Bumi said making Tenzin sigh.

"Is it too late for you to un-retire from the united forces?" Tenzin asked if not begged.

"The paperwork's gone through, little brother. From now on, It's 24/7 Bumi time!" Bumi said grabbing his face making him sigh.

"While you've come a long way since we were little kids thats for certain. It doesn't hurt to have some extra training." Sean said.

"This is about us relaxing. We've really been through enough as it is because of Hiroshi and the Sith. Besides, now that Hiroshi is captured and we know about their super weapon...It's only a matter of time till we make a plan to get the designs, find a weakness and destroy it. Hopefully with most of them." Korra said.

"True. Still thats a long way from now." Tarkin said.

"Hopefully our visit to the air temples will help you in your spiritual training." Tenzin said.

"Never listens does he?" Korra asked making Sean snort in amusment.

"Now that the President is in office and I'm not needed on the council I can finally relax with my family and give Korra the attention she needs." Tenzin said.

"HA! You relax?" Sean asked.

"What? I can relax." Tenzin making them snort.

"Maybe when you were a kid sure on your vacations with your dad only trips." Sean said.

"Whats that supposed to mean?" Tenzin asked.

"According to Bumi and Kya your dad only took you on vacations." Korra said.

"No, that can't be right. I remember them going with." Tenzin said.

"No we didn't." Bumi said annoyed.

"Reason we try to spend so much time with our kids is because we don't want history repeating itself." Korra said holding the twins who cooed.

"I know for a fact Dad loved us all equally." Tenzin said.

"That part is clearly true. But he paid more attention to you because YOU were an airbender. Teaching the culture down to you because of that is fine. But ignoring your other kids isn't ok." Korra said as Junior yawned making her smile.

"I made sure both Sean and Turok had equal attention when they were growing up just as my parents did for me and Gideon." Tarkin said.

"It's true." Turok said next to Nexo who rubbed against him.

"Ok fine. But I do now how to relax." Tenzin said.

"But before that we're heading for the Southern Water Tribe. Theres a festival and we're not missing it. We go every years. This will be the Kids first time going and it's close to their birthday." Korra said.

"Oh yes." Tarkin said.

Later

Soon the group arrived at the southern water tribe docks.

"Aww." Kya said holding her grand niece who giggled at her. "How did your dad handle your early pregnancy?" Kya asked making her giggle sheepishly.

"He blew up." Jinora said taking her daughter back.

"Oh I'll bet. Your dad was so strict back then when he was your age. Never knew how to lighten up." Kya said teasing him.

"I did too!" Tenzin yelled.

"Do not." Bumi teased making him growl.

Senna laughed holding her grandson who giggled.

"It's nice to have you two back." Senna said.

"It feels good to be back." Sean said.

"Wow. So all these people came to greet us?" Bolin said.

"Uh no. They came for them." Sean said pointing to a ship from the North docking making Sean growl annoyed.

"Just relax. He'll be gone soon enough." Korra said.

"That ain't soon enough." Sean said.

"Am I missing something here?" Mako asked.

"Sean and my uncle have...Issues because he tried to take us away when we were kids 14 years ago by force. Sean's never let that go and tried every time to avoid him." Korra said as Unalaq and two children clearly twins walked down.

"Who are the lovely ladies?" Bolin asked making Tarkin raise an eyebrow.

"You do realize one of them is a boy right?" Tarkin asked making him pale.

"That is Desna and Eska. Korra's ugly cousins. Desna is the guy without the makeup." Sean said making Korra snort as Unalaq approached them.

"Good to see you, Avatar Korra." Unalaq said before looking at Sean. "Kruger." Unalaq said as he just stared at him through his mask though he could tell he's glaring.

"This is...Really tense." Asami said.

"Sean can really hold a grudge." Korra said knowing this was gonna be difficult for him as they traveled into the festival.

"It's a shame the southerners have abandoned all connections to the spirits, even during the Clone wars." Unalaq said.

"I've always loved the Glacier festival. Sean and I always came back here every year." Korra said making him chuckle.

"This festival used to be a solemn time of fasting and meditation. Now it's just a chance to watch some rube try to stick an entire arctic hen in his mouth." Unalaq said as they watched Bolin do just that.

"What?" Bolin asked muffled making the twins laugh.

"Traditions are meant to change. It's part of life. If you can't accept that then you stay in the past and never move on to a new age." Tarkin said making him glare.

"Tell that to the sailors who are being attacked by angry spirits in southern waters. Some traditions have purpose." Unalaq said.

"Wait, Spirits are attacking ships?" Korra asked making him nod.

"I'm not surprised you don't know. With you fighting in yet another pointless conflict that has no meaning. And one that shouldn't involve you." Unalaq said.

"What does that mean?" Sean asked glaring at him.

"The Avatar is meant to protect the Earth. Not the Galaxy. It is not her responsibility. And being a Jedi is beneath her. If anything they should be serving her." Unalaq said before gasping as Sean used the force to choke him.

"Wanna repeat that?" Sean asked.

"Enough of this. He's not worth it." Tarkin said as he was released gasping for breath.

"You haven't changed at all. Still arrogant and selfish. I question if you even are related to Korra and her family since they actually act Human." Sean said walking away.

"Nice going." Korra said making him frown.

Later

Soon everyone was in the dining hall.

"This is a wonderful feast in your honor, Uncle." Korra said.

"This is nothing. When this festival was founded, the tribal elders would commune with the spirits. People would watch the brilliant displays of light as spirits danced in the sky." Unalaq said.

"Wow. I've never seen that." Korra said.

"And that is a shame, since the Avatar is the bridge between the material world and the spirits. That is why I want so badly to teach you, to help you fulfill your destiny." Unalaq said.

"Do you ever shut up. We don't have time for your pathetic teachings. We're just here to relax before we head back into the action again. Not that you would care since you only care about yourself." Sean said making him frown.

"You wouldn't be in this pointless conflict it it wasn't for Korra's father." Unalaq said making him frown.

"What does that mean?" Korra asked.

"Every Avatar before you traveled the world to learn. But your father and Tenzin decided to take to the temple." Unalaq said.

"I'm assuming theres clearly a reason for that. Most likely to keep us away from you. Or something you did." Sean said making Tarkin frown.

"I didn't do anything. I tried to help both of you. And look where you both are. Your connection is damaged because of your attachments. And both of you are in a war that has nothing to do with you." Unalaq said.

"It has everything to do with us. They would attack Earth like they did before. Or have you forgotten?" Sean asked making him frown.

Tenzin was listening in knowing Unalaq was up to something.

"Looks like someone's trying to take your place as the Avatar's stick-in-the-mud Mentor." Bumi teased his little brother.

"Bumi, don't pick on Tenzin. You know he's always been sensitive." Kya teased making him glare.

"I'm not sensitive." Tenzin said making them laugh while Katara was concerned about the interaction between her children.

Later

"That guy still pisses me off." Sean said with Bastila in his arms while Korra had Junior.

"I know you still have issues with him." Korra said.

"If I had my way he'd be facing death's row...OW!" Sean yelled as she pulled his ear.

"Will you stop and just enjoy the place?" Korra asked.

"Yes, dear." Sean said making her smile as the twins giggled.

"So what do you think about what Unalaq said? About the South being out of balance?" Korra asked.

"Ignore him. For all we know this is a side effect of the clone wars. Who knows whats going on. Besides you help him out and it only benefits him." Sean said.

"Maybe." Korra said.

"Oh no." Sean said.

"What?" Korra asked before seeing Bolin flirting with Eska. "Oh no. Bolin you idiot." Korra said as she dragged him off.

"I hope both of you have better picks when you're older." Sean said making the twins laugh.

"Hey." Korra said making him look seeing Turok with Omega making him chuckle.

"Oh little brother. Found the one from nowhere." Sean teased as he and Korra laughed.

Later

Sean and Korra with the twins were asleep.

Dragon in a smaller form was next to them before he started snarling.

"Huh? What is it boy?" Sean asked before Naga started howling as they rushed out.

"What has gotten into you two?" Korra asked before Nexo rushed out and roared.

"Hey!" Turok yelled holding him close.

"Only one reason they would act that way." Tarkin said.

"They sense danger." Turok said before something appeared in front of them.

"Tell me that is not what I think that is?" Sean asked.

"A dark spirit?" Korra asked before it charged at them before forcing Sean into a wall

"OW!" Sean yelled before it stabbed him making him growl before using force lightning on it. "Not this again. I hate spirits!" Sean yelled before it rammed him into the fare grounds.

Sean pulled out his dark saber about to attack.

Only for water to swirl around it.

"Huh?" Sean asked before seeing Unalaq do this before it vanished.

"Go in peace." Unalaq said.

Sean frowned at that.

"Sean!" Korra yelled running to him before facing her uncle. "How did you do that?" Korra asked.

"As your father could tell you, I have spent my life studying the spirits and learning their ways. All of this knowledge is lost in the south, but I could teach you everything I know." Unalaq said.

"The answer is no." Sean said shocking him.

"Even after I saved your life?" Unalaq said.

"I don't fucking care if you saved the whole universe. Nothing is going to make me trust you and thats that!" Sean yelled walking away.

"Hold up." Korra said rushing to him.

"Please tell me your not gonna listen to him?" Sean begged.

"Look I know you have issues with him because of what he tried to pull and all that other stuff he said. But what if he's telling the truth about all this. You can't deny thats concerning with a dark spirit showing up. I don't need to remind you about 4 years ago." Korra said making him sigh.

"No." Sean said.

"So heres whats gonna happen. I'll help him out for now to see whats going on. And at the first sign I see he's manipulating things to benefit him. Then I stop and you and your dad step in." Korra said.

"A strategic idea." Tarkin said walking to them.

"Fine. But I'm telling you there is something wrong with all this since nothing happens by mere chance." Sean said.

"That we can all agree on." Tarkin said.

Later

Tenzin and his family Minus Jinora had left with Turok and Omega.

"You think I made the right choice to stay?" Korra asked Tarkin.

"Honestly I don't think so but thats based on my views of your uncle." Tarkin said.

"Why?" Korra asked.

"Lets just say I learned some concerning information from Sean's Avatar Counterpart. And I'm keeping a very close eye on him to see if events play out the same regarding that information." Tarkin said. "But regarding this event I will admit Unalaq is considered the top person of spiritual matters. So if something is going on...He's the one who you need to consult with." Tarkin said.

"I hope everything works out in the end." Korra said.

"So do I." Tarkin said.
