Valentine's Day
Back with a quick little Valentine's Day one shot for Jandy on SEAL Team. Don't know where this one is going but I imagine they're not your typical couple on this loving day in some ways yet they're also incredibly sweet with each other. Hope you enjoy it!
Jason and the guys had been training all Friday afternoon with no missions assigned to them. It had been a few months since the ambush and the team had recovered well. Jason had suffered a bullet wound to his upper arm. By some miracle, the team had survived the attack and help had arrived in just the nick of time. The guys were all talking and laughing as they walked into the cage room.
"Whew, what a day. Let's hope we get an op soon," Sonny said. "Anyone up for the bulkhead tonight."
"I'm out. It's Valentine's weekend with the missus," Ray said.
"That's right," Sonny sighed. "Hannah should be coming into town tomorrow morning so I could spend Valentine's with Leanne."
Jason had been the last to enter the room and smiled over at Sonny, "That sounds like a perfect weekend."
Jason started unlocking his cage only once he entered there was a bouquet of paper printed flowers on his shelf. There were camouflage, Flyers, and Eagles printed flowers. He grabbed them and saw the vase was in the shape of a grenade.
"Alright, who did it?" Jason laughed as he brought the flowers out of his cage.
"Not me," Ray said coming to take a look.
"Nice one Sonny," Jason laughed.
"Wasn't me either boss," Sonny replied. "Looks like there is a note."
Jason turned the folder to see an envelope marked with mission details and confidential all over it. He grabbed it and pulled out the note. He read it with a confused expression before laughing aloud. He quickly turned around back to his cage and grabbed his bag. As he locked up the guys all stared at him weirdly.
"Uhh, everything okay?" Ray asked.
"Where are you going?" Sonny said.
"Gun range. See ya guys!" Jason said walking out of the room.
"Were those from?" Ray asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Those two would make romance about war or the job," Sonny shook his head.
Jason walked down the line of stalls at the gun range. As he approached, he could see someone shooting off rounds at a target. They had their earmuffs and glasses on for safety. They were concentrating as they looked down the range at the target. Jason stopped and admired from a far.
After firing their last shot the person spoke, "So, you going to just stand there all day staring at me or admit that I'm the better shot."
Jason laughed as he approached them, "You're trying to tell me you think you're better than a SEAL?"
"I don't know, heard you might be a little rusty," they turned around and smirked.
"Rusty? I'll show you rusty," Jason said grabbing Mandy's by the hips and pulling her in for a searing kiss. "Ever tell you that you look hot with a gun."
"No, I don't think so," Mandy sighed as she put her hands around his neck. "You don't look so bad yourself either."
"Nice touch with the flowers," Jason smiled. "Thought the guys was supposed to do that."
"Figured you'd think it was a gag gift from the guys," Mandy said with a knowing look. "Thank for the coffee mug. Very fitting," Mandy laughed.
"Well, you are double oh seven," Jason laughed. "Except when you're my damsel in distress."
"Anyways, no more distractions. Get up there and show me what you got. You win, maybe you get to see what I'm wearing underneath."
"Oh, I'll definitely be seeing what's on underneath," Jason smirked.
"Come on, I got you," Jason laughed as Mandy held on to him for dear life as they skated on the ice rink.
"Oh shit," Mandy said almost losing her balance again and Jason laughed again. "It is not nice to laugh at your girlfriend almost dying."
"You're not dying," Jason said seriously. "Slow and steady. Who knew Amanda Ellis had flaws?"
"Right, cuz you're perfect," Mandy rolled her eyes.
"Well, I am," Jason shrugged with his signature Hayes smirk.
"How do you go anywhere with that big ego of yours?" Mandy asked.
"Oh, you think my ego is big?" Jason said with dark eyes.
"Oh my god, you're such a guy," Mandy rolled her eyes again.
"Your guy though," Jason said pulling her in for a quick kiss.
"My Bravo one," Mandy smiled back.
Mandy woke up to Cerberus barking. It sounded like he and Jason were in the kitchen from how Jason was talking to him. Mandy smiled thinking about how far she and Cerb had come. After Jason had come home from the ambush, she'd stuck around in his recovery. She and Cerberus had bonded over taking care of Jason. Jason often joked that Cerb now preferred her over him. Whenever, they came to her place, Cerb was excited to get out the car and runs towards her house.
"Happy early Valentine's Day," Jason said holding a tray as he walked towards the bed.
Mandy got herself up to sit against the headboard, tangled in the sheets. "Jason Hayes, the romantic," Mandy smiled as he leaned down to kiss her.
"Only for you," Jason smiled back. "Don't tell everyone. Got a reputation to protect."
"Your secret is safe with me," Mandy said with a hand on his cheek.
"I know," Jason said seriously. "Eat up, we've got gifts and plans."
"Oh, speaking of gifts, can you grab my bag," Mandy asked. "Oh, and the big box there, that's for Cerb."
"Cerb, gets a Valentine's gift?" Jason smiled.
"Well, he's the only reason I stick around," Mandy said petting him as he barked. "I love you too."
"And they said dog was man's best friend," Jason smiled at the two. "Instead, dog just steals my girl."
"He's cuter," Mandy smirked.
Jason shook his head, "Let's see what you got buddy."
Jason opened the box as Cerberus came over to inspect it as well. After Jason got the wrapping paper off, he cut the tape to open the box up. When he flipped the flaps open, he stopped for a second. He pulled it out and put in on the floor. It looked like an old ammo box but had two spots for dog bowls. It was customized with Bravo's logo and Cerb's name. Different names of places they'd gone were printed all over the box as well. Cerb's time of service was in the corner along with the list of his awards.
"Wow," Jason said in awe. "Look at that Cerb. You like it?"
Cerberus sniffed around it and then barked his approval.
"Go say thanks," Jason said as Cerberus turned to go back to Mandy and shower her with kisses.
"Your welcome buddy," Mandy laughed as Jason came over to his side of the bed to sit next to her.
"It's beautiful, thank you. You didn't have to," Jason said grabbing her hand and leaning in for a sweet kiss.
"You guys deserve the world," Mandy smiled back. "Now for your gift," Mandy said handing him a small box.
Jason gave her a look of exasperation as Mandy rolled her eyes. He flipped it open to find a bullet casing nestled in the bed of the box. He looked over to Mandy with questioning eyes.
"They call it a bullet locket capsule," Mandy explained. "Inside is a note from me, Emma, and Mikey. The casing is from the ambush a few months back. You survived it and came back home to us."
Jason's breath caught in his throat. He remembered the moment he got shot and Ray had to patch him up. He once told Mandy he was better at handling bullets flying at him but for one single moment he thought about all that he'd left back home. He saw his kids and thought about the last thing he'd said to them. Then he thought about Mandy. He thought about their last moment together. Their last kiss. He'd almost lost her for good all those months ago. He was finally getting a real chance with her, yet he was in the middle of a firefight he wasn't sure he'd come home alive from. He had so much to come home to and fought like hell to come back.
"I love you," Jason declared as he grabbed her by the face and brought her in for a breath stealing kiss.
"I love you too," Mandy whispered sweetly.
"And this is for you," Jason said grabbing a gift bag.
Mandy smiled as she reached into the bag. She pulled out a book and flipped it over to see what it was. Mandy's eyes grew wide as it was a vintage classic book. Jason had discovered over the recent months that Mandy loved reading anything and everything.
"How'd you?" Mandy asked surprised.
"You're not the only one with connections in this world," Jason smirked.
Mandy continued on with her present. Next, she pulled out a what looked like a paw casting from Cerberus. In the center of his paw a heart was drawn with Mandy's initials. Mandy laughed at how both of them had involved Cerberus.
"Cerberus thought he should get you something too," Jason said.
"I love it," Mandy said giving a kiss on Cerb's head.
Lastly, Mandy pulled out a square jewelry box. When she opened it, there was a charm bracelet inside. She took the bracelet out and inspected the charms. There was a Mexican flag, tacos, gun, Africa, and various other charms.
"Each charm represents time we've spent together over the years," Jason explained. "Like how we were at each other's throats in Mexico. Our friendly competitions at the gun range. Our taco truck spot we love. Me rescuing my damsel in distress in Africa. Despite all the hell we've gone through, we're still here. You've been there for the good and bad. We've been through a lot of blood and trauma."
"And I'm your reward," Mandy interrupted.
"We're each other's rewards," Jason smiled. "Happy Valentine's Day."
"Happy Valentine's Day," Mandy said as they kissed again. "You're setting the standard pretty high for next year, Master Chief Hayes."
"Well, I always strive for better," Jason said as he moved the breakfast tray and hover over Mandy.
"Strive away then," Mandy responded as the two got lost in each other again.
