Donkules Kong Part 31 Donkey Kong Ascends/A Star Is Born

A cloud appears under their feet, sent by DK's father, and whisks them up to the Empire State Building.

"Whoa!" Mario jolted in surprise before running after them. "Hey, hey, hey! Whoo!" Rambi swooped under him so the Italian could ride on his back, bringing him along.

DK and Samus watch in contentment and wonder respectively as they are brought to the already restored Kong Temple. A crowd of Kongs and their human mates cheers them on, welcoming the one who had saved all.

George, the albino Kong of War, called out. "Three cheers for the mighty Donkey Kong!"

In unison, the great apes lifted their voices and sang a surprisingly high-pitched Harmony in honor of DK while the women showered him with applause.

"Oh, Yeah!" Cranky Kong shouted mirthfully, throwing flowers from a basket. "Flowers for everybody!"

Basking under the glory of his disciple, Mario made a reverence to the adoring crowd. Rambi caught one of the flowers and ate it.

DK's eyes perked up to the temple's entrance. The two massive sliding stone doors that guarded the stronghold were open, revealing a set of stairs large enough for a Kong to walk down and the massive throne facing the entrance. His father was right in front of the opened gate and alongside him, surrounded by the Kongs and her sisters, was Ann Darrow, King Kong's mate and DK's mother. Both of his parents were smiling down at him. DK and Samus exchanged loving smiles with each other before the latter finally moved to meet the couple, while the former watched from afar.

Making his way up to the gate, DK was greeted by the dashing queen.

"Donkey, we're so proud of you," Ann told him with a kindly, motherly voice, bringing her long-lost son into a warm embrace which he reciprocated.

"Mother," DK whispered, happy that they finally reunited. Ann stroked his chin as they separated, allowing Kong to wrap an arm around DK's shoulder and bring him in for a strong side hug.

"Hah! Fine work, my boy!" The king declared cheerfully, then gave his son a friendly punch to the chest, just strong enough to cause light pain to the hero. "You've done it! You're a true hero."

"You were willing to give your life to rescue this young woman." Ann looked over to the beaming Samus.

Kong nodded, never letting go of his son. "For a true hero isn't measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart." He brought DK forward, gesturing towards the entryway to the cave.

"Now, at last, my son, you can come home."

DK found himself peering over the glory of the steaming, tangled jungles of Skull Island, its gnarled trees the size of skyscrapers. The crowd gathered in a circle around DK and congratulated him for his achievement. Being a mortal and thus not allowed entrance into the temple, Samus is left behind.

Knowing that DK was going to stay as an immortal at Hollow Earth, her smile fell and her face dropped. The bounty hunter was about to walk away but stopped mid-turn and sent another bright smile to the gorilla. "Congratulations, Little Wonder." She said quietly and genuinely, trying to accept the fact without bitterness "You'll make one heck of a Kong."

With that, Samus turned and went her own way, a look of sadness overtaking her face as she couldn't help but feel heartbroken and dejected at the thought of once again being left behind by someone she loved.

Amongst clapping and pats on the back from his Family, DK gazed behind him and saw a dejected-looking Samus Aran slowly walking away. Realizing the motive and thinking for a second, he addressed his father, the others giving him some space to do so.

"Father, this is the moment I've always dreamed of." His parents smiled, his father had an arm wrapped around his mother's shoulder. DK smiled back only to exhale right after. "But..." He came to Samus and took her hand, making her turn to him in a mix of wonder and confusion. "A life without Samus, even an immortal life, would be... empty." He declared, looking tenderly at her and joining their hands together. "I- I wish to stay on Earth with her." Samus's unshed tears turned into happy tears and she softly rested her head on DK's arms. Rotating his head, a smiling Donkey Kong regarded his Family. "I finally know where I belong."

Although surprised at first, Kong and Ann share a look and smile - happy for their son to have found love. Kong nods at him, giving his blessing. DK's godly glow dissipated, signaling the renouncement of his godhood and immortality so he can be with his true love.

DK and Samus leaned in, closing their eyes and bringing their lips together, finally sharing their first kiss and officially declaring their love. DK gently moved his arms around her slender body as she moved her hand to the back of his neck. Samus wrapped her fingers tightly and pulled in with force, surprising him before he regained his balance and settled to holding her closer at the curve of her body. Her arms coiled around and she fully sunk into his arms, deepening their kiss as the crowd cheered in celebration.

Cranky Kong swung a staff to the dancers. "Hit it, ladies!"

Appearing on a puff of smoke from the volcano, the Vaudeville Dancers began to dance and sing:

"Oh, gonna shout it from the mountaintops"

Rambi gave his owner a lick, breaking their kiss and earning a laugh and an amused smile from DK and Samus respectively.

"A star is born!"

Utam shook a bottle of rice wine,

"It's the time for pulling out the stops"

The resulting eruption splashed DK, who took it in good humor.

"A star is born!"

Rambi and Samus did a headbutt... followed by a hug from both of them, officially burying the hatchet.

"Honey, hit us with a hallelu"

Mario turned and came face to face with Captain Marvel.

"That kid came shining through"

He pulled his hair back and quirked a brow in her direction, attempting a flirt. Which she answered by instantly giving him a passionate kiss.

"Girl, sing the song"

To all the Mario fans reading, I offer you an apology for making him go through that.

"Come blow your horn"

DK pulls him away from her as he and Samus ride by on Rambi before the rhino takes them all back to Donkey Kong Island, the Captain waves goodbye to the plumber.

"A star is born!"

Cranky plays on a floating keyboard.

"He's a hero who can please the crowd"

Returning home, DK is acclaimed by the locals

"A star is born!"

He reunites with his adoptive parents, Cornelius and Zira, who welcome Samus as their new daughter-in-law.

"Come on, everybody shout out loud"

Samus points up, getting all's attention towards the sky.

"A star is born!"

They all witness King Kong assembling the stars to form a constellation picturing DK in honor of his son.

"Just remember in the darkest hour, within your heart's the power for makin' you a hero too"

Mario is awed. The image overcame him with a sense of joy and unrivaled pride.

"So don't lose hope when you're forlorn"

Then someone among the island's inhabitants pointed out the constellation, saying "That's Mario's boy!"

"Just keep your eyes on the skies"

And Mario shed a tear of joy, steeming both from his feeling of fulfillment as a trainer and having just realized his life's ambition.

"Every night, a star is right in sight,"

DK gave him a noogie, Samus hugged him, and Rambi's tongue licked the happy mentor all over.

"A star is burning bright,"

The dancers' chorus close the movie.

"A star is born"

The End.

"A star is born"
