Chapter 5- Moving Forward

So much had happened in a span of a couple of days for a certain bushy green haired boy. After accepting Merlin's offer of joining the group, there was a lot of changes that had to be made with how things currently are, and a lot more explaining to be followed.

The biggest change being, him moving in with them as Merlin explained it being the safest and most convenient option available. His new home? The place where he first woke up after that tragic day, where he made the choice to join and work under a group of strangers who want to help him with his personal problems, A family-run diner/bar/inn, affectionately named "The Boar Hat Dine-Inn" located in Tokyo which wasn't too far from where his apartment is. Now Izuku had a few questions about that but will have to save them for a later time.

Merlin explained that The Seven Deadly Sins have been the protectors of the world since the medieval ages, a time long since before the age of quirks, keeping it safe from the remnant threats of what was a great generational war in secret from the common people. Numerous governments around the world however, knew of the group's existence and respected their accomplishments but are very tight lipped about it.

To sum it all up, the group worked in secret with governments around the world eliminating threats that no normal hero could do. What that threat is was still unclear to him only that they always kept the damage to an absolute minimal to prevent detection earning them both a lot of freedom to operate and a lot of favors as well. Each member of the "Sins" is also very strong according to Merlin hence another reason why the governments respect their space. He personally hasn't seen their full abilities yet but he doubts they could surpass All Might.

"5000 years old?!" Izuku asked/screamed, shocked by the woman's age. There was an old saying that you should never ask about a woman's age less you want to be on the receiving end of a palm of fury...but this was just ludicrous. Considering the woman in front of him looked like she was in her early thirties, ignoring her burn scar. Not even a super de-aging or regeneration quirk could be theorized to allow someone to live that long.

Merlin only nodded her head, an amused smile plastered on her face at seeing the boy's reaction. Not many would believe her word so easily and even fewer are the poeple she would actually tell in the first place, but considering the boy will now be living with them, he may as well get to know them all.

They were currently in Izuku's new room, the same one where he woke up. She was helping him unpack and get comfortable with the new arrangements. He will be homeschooled from now on. A decision Izuku agreed to. Merlin made sure of the paperwork, and with a pull of a few strings, she was able to have all the rights to legally be the boy's mentor. The school he was once enrolled in didn't even bother questioning the reason for the boy's transfer, most likely because of the boy's lack of latent magic abilities or a quirk as they call them nowadays. A fact that Merlin thought quite bothersome.

It's been three days since the day Izuku had been attacked. She knew that he was still hurting. She planned a funeral for his mother by the end of the week. It will be just him and the sins attending, to give the boy a few moments to say his goodbye and to honor her. She hadn't told him of her plan yet but she'll need to soon.

For the past few hours, everyone had been trying to get along with Izuku. Trying to brighten his mood especially Gawain and the two other people who didn't introduce themselves before. The two siblings Galehaut ,who prefers being called his nickname prince, and Flaura. Merlin asked them to give him some time as it was still a bit too early for him to forget what happened. He needed time, she knew this. Time to grieve, time to accept, and time to heal. Losing someone isn't easy.

To help Izuku get more comfortable with the occupants of his new home, Gowther suggested that they should have a family dinner of sorts. Izuku had been eating in his new room not wanting to talk or really interact yet. He still has too much on his mind and and even more questions that need answering. It was still so...surreal.

2 days later...

The sky was dark, the clouds were heavy, and the sound of thunder echoed in the sky. The atmosphere was perfect for this kind of event. It perfectly describes what he was feeling inside.

Black wasn't his color but he wasn't wearing it for himself.

The dark clouds were like his soul, without light. The echoing sounds of distant thunder was the sound of his painfully aching heart. Lastly, the pouring rain were his unending stream of hot tears. He stood in front of the coffin of his now deceased mother, his first hero. The person who stuck by him and gave him her everything despite he himself never returning anything...nor will he ever get the chance to.

He let his mind wander. To the times he had spent with her, the memories of her, of a happier time.

"Oh someone, help me!" His mother's voice called out playfully from within a room. A giggly happy smile plastered on her face.

"I am here!" He came bursting in wearing his favorite All Might onesie. The smile on his face so wide at the happiness he felt.

That was one of his favorites.

"Oh? You need my help choosing a hero name?" Her voice sang as she looked down with a loving gaze.

He couldn't stop the excitement in his system nor the gleam in his eyes as she read aloud all the names he wrote down.

"Let's see... "Mighty All Man," "Mighty Boy," "All Might Jr..."

"Junior!"

"... "Mighty Man," "Captain All Might," "Super All Might"!"

"SUPER!"

"SUPER!"

She picked him up and swung him in the air like he was flying.

He couldn't help but to smile at his childhood self's unwavering adoration of All Might and to his mother's delightful squeals.

"I'm sorry Izuku, I'm so sorry." Her cries filled the room, the forgotten video playing in the background as she hugged him tightly.

He let the tears escape their hot prison. He didn't bother stopping the water works because right now, all he wanted was take back the time, to bring back those moments, to stop what happened from

happening. He knew what he was asking for was nothing but wishful thinking but he couldn't help it.

He stepped closer to the coffin where his mother rested and will continuously to rest in forever. He placed his forehead in it with his eyes shut. Merlin did her best to restore his mother's body with her vast powers but he couldn't bring himself to look at her lifeless form, not yet. He let his pathetic whimpers echo out. The pain and the remorse ever so powerful in his system. He needs to accept this, so he can move on. He needed closure. With a heavy feeling, he searched his heart for the right words to say.

"Mom...if you can hear me from where you are,... I-I'm sorry... I'm sorry for worrying you so much, I'm sorry for not giving you the treatment you deserve... I'm sorry for not being the son you deserve to have...!" He sucked in a breath.

"But I promise...I'll be someone you'll be proud of. I will make you proud." His voice radiated determination and sorrow. This was his starting point. This was his obligation. This was his promise...

This was farewell.

With one last look and one last prayer, they buried the coffin.

Eventually the storm had gotten to voracious and the attendants of the ceremony had to leave lest they want their new recruit to catch a cold. Merlin teleported them back to the pub but she stayed behind. She too needed something to say.

She walked up to the grave and looked to the sky.

"I too would like to apologize for keeping you in the dark but your son is in good hands that's a mother's promise. If only your soul were intact, I could have saved you." She frowned at that thought.

5 hours later, same day...

His vision was dark, he couldn't see anything. The grip on his neck tightened, choking him. Muffled screaming could be heard as the horrific sound of flesh tearing and blood dripping filled his ears. He closed his eyes tightly and covered his ears. He tried to scream to drown out the sounds of pain, but he couldn't find his voice.

When he opened his eyes, he was in a snowy field. Looking up from the ground, his gaze met with another's. Familiar friendly pink eyes looked into his own emerald ones. The owner of those eyes extended a hand to him. He stared at it for a moment and then to the owner of the hand. He still couldn't speak. Her white hair flowed with the cold breeze, it matched the snow below them so perfectly. He took her hand and a warm feeling enveloped him. The edges of his lips curved upwards until it was a full blissful smile. Laughter filled the air as the girl lead him further into the snow.

Gowther deactivated his magic, as serene smile spread across Izuku's face. He was walking down the halls when he sensed the boy's distress. He was asleep when he entered the room but his face was uneasy and he was sweating profusely. Gowther new a nightmare when he saw one.

So, out of compassion and empathy for the hurting child, he used his powers to help him sleep just as he did the night they found him.

*Dream Catcher*

This was the least he could do to make up for erasing his memories. It was still the night of his mother's funeral, it'll take some time for this wound to heal if it ever will.

"Rest well Izuku, we still have a long way to go." He said in a hushed tone. He felt a connection towards the boy. A feint sense of familiarity to what he was going through. Maybe it was because he witnessed his rash emotional decision in the face of tragedy, that reminded him of himself. Whatever it may be, he promises to guide this boy on the right path especially when his confiscated power will make it difficult.

A/N: I would just like to say thank you to the followers of this story and to the first two people to review this story. It helps boost the confidence :

The1ststand- Thank you for your words for encouragement. It is very nerve racking since it's my first time publishing a story.

Im ThePerson- Thank you for the constructive criticism. I really do appreciate it, since I want to bring the best quality of this idea that's been in my head for months now. As fo your concerns and advice, I will take them into consideration. I don't want to spoil anything I have planned so all I can say is that these OCs and events will definitely intertwine with the canon in both the past and the future. Think of it as an expansion of either the BNHA universe or the SDS universe using each other's story to explain what happened before the world of quirks and what will happen eons after the SDS. I wish you luck as well with your own journey to becoming an author.
