"People who get nostalgic about childhood were obviously never children." - Bill Watterson

We start out the same way: Pathetic.

Infants, children, schoolboys.

Some stay wet from the womb for years. Klink, I think, is still quite moist.

I am not. If I ever was, I don't recall it. I was a sturdy, serious boy. That, I owe to my father, a stern man who took no delight in being around small, helpless people unless they were women. Young men required backbone.

He expected much of his sons. And if he exhibited a bit of a temper as he corrected us, who could complain? A man of his ilk, a professor, commanded respect.
