Author note
Hi readers! This is my first ever fanfiction. So it will not be the best. But I'll certainly try to make this a great InuKag romance fanfic. This fanfic will be set in Modern times at a high school. There will also be lots of different character brought in and developed along the way.
DISCLAIMER - In no way shape or form did I create Inuyasha or any of the characters in this fanfiction. All the characters and the original story, were created by Rumiko Takahashi. I'm sure most people understand that fanfiction writers aren't claiming these character's are ours. But the disclaimer is needed just in case.
Thank you to all that read ! I hope you enjoy :)

Chapter 1 - Alone
"Kagome you sure you want to wear that today?" Kagome's mother asked worriedly. Looking at her daughters very colourful outfit.
Kagome laughed," I like this style! It suits me"
She beamed a smile and grabbed her school backpack. She was excited to start a new school, a fresh start.
"If you have any problems please call me and I'll-" her mother blathering frantically, before Kagome stepped in.
"I swear I'll be okay, don't worry so much. Right I'm off, see you later!" She said loudly, "Bye Souta, bye Grandpa!" She yelled, closing the door to her house.
Arriving at her new school, Kagome could start to feel the nerves setting in. She straightened the pink backpack that she was carrying and brushed the cat hair from her bright yellow dress.
'You can do this Kagome.' She said to herself, almost as if she were a different person trying to encourage a friend.
Inside Class B English
"Please give a warm welcome to Kagome Higurashi, I'm hoping that class B will all do their upmost to make her feel welcome" The teacher addressed to the class. Looking around the classroom, he pointed to a seat near the back of the class.
"Kagome, please take a seat"
Everyone in the class started to murmur and some stared, almost as if there were in shock. Kagome was confused as she made her way to her desk. 'Why are they all acting so weird?' She thought. She made it to her seat and noticed that next to her was a Yokai.
Yokai are demons. Not commonly accepted in public schools, due to their reputations to be violent and disruptive. Normally they attended Yokai only schools. So she was surprised to see him in her class.
He was tall and had long, luxurious silver hair. He had doggy ears on the top of his head that were twitching furiously. She found them quite cute. She continued to look at his ears in awe. Suddenly he lifted his head from his desk and glared at her from the corner of his eye. Quickly she turned her head, embarrassed she had been caught staring.
The Yokai groaned thinking to himself, 'Great, sat right next to the weird girl.'
The class went on. Kagome noticed the demon boy had a pretty good work ethic. She tried her best to not glance over too much because she didn't want to weird him out. But he noticed and it weirded him out.
He seemed to be ahead of the class, writing the answers before the teacher even explained them. Not long after class began, he had already finished the classwork and got up out of his seat.
She watched as he walked to the front. Putting his paper on the teachers desk, then leaving the classroom. The teacher nodded and continued on with the lesson. Kagome was super impressed. In awe at the demons intelligence. She could see the rest of the class however, were not so impressed. Hearing insults from students, who clearly did not want to be in class.
After class was over, Kagome headed down the hall to her next class. History was one of Kagome's favourite topics. She loved learning about feudal Japan the most though. The mysteries of the Shikon Jewel, that made her fall in love with history.
She sat down in class next to a beautiful girl. She had gorgeous hair and was surprisingly toned. Kagome thought, 'She has to be a martial artist.'
"My name is Sango!" She had said happily to Kagome. Sango was excited, wanting to make friends friends the new girl.
"My name is Kagome" she replied with a smile. Kagome felt relieved someone had talked to her, so far the day had consisted of only teachers addressing her.
Sango had talked to her during the whole class and Kagome was hoping to be able to spend lunch with her. The bell sounded and Kagome tried opened her mouth, trying to work up the courage to ask Sango before she left. However she wasn't fast enough. Sango got dragged away by this excited weird guy, who quite frankly acted like a pest. Kagome saw Sango slap the guy for grabbing her butt; as they left class.
Feeling a little dejected, Kagome headed to the cafeteria. 'Time to eat' she thought happily. Thinking about the lovely lunch she made herself. 'Suppose I better find a table.'
She walked into the busy cafeteria and looked around for a place she could sit. Every table seemed packed and no one seemed to cared to let her introduce herself.
Awkwardly shuffling around she noticed the same Yokai from the first class, sat on a table alone in the corner of the cafeteria. Immediately she headed over there, with a smile on her face.
The demon boy sat at the table, picking at his rice. He heard a sound near his table, his ears fidgeting from the slight noise. He looked up to see the weird girl from first period, smiling at him. He groaned internally, 'Why do I have to deal with this shit?' he wondered in his mind.
"What?" He said bluntly. Glaring at her.
Kagome hesitated for a moment. But then asked.
"Can I sit with you?"
The demon boy was confused. He raised an eyebrow, "And why would you want to do that?" He thought to himself, 'What the hell does this human want? Does she not listen to the news?"
Kagome felt hostility coming from him. His golden eyes shot through her, so sharp she felt they could cut into her soul. Those eyes looked guarded and void. She hadn't seen eyes like that for a long time.
She muttered, "Well I saw you sitting alone. And I have no one to sit with either. So, I thought we could keep each over company."
She looked at the ground, instead of at his piercing gold eyes, that were staring her down. Clenching her palms together tightly, nerves starting starting overtake her.
The demon sighed, rubbing his face. "Ugh."
Kagome felt immense regret.
She thought to herself, 'I knew I shouldn't have asked. After being creepy to him this morning, why the hell would he want to be friends!? I'm so stupid!'
"Sorry, I guess that was weird huh? I'll go find somewhere else." She spoke with a remorseful tone. She turned around. About to walk away until she heard the demon speak up.
"Wait." He said groaning.
Her feet came to a halt and her heart began to beat faster from nerves.
'Please don't yell at me' she prayed. As she turned around, she gazed at him with a lonely expression.
He sighed before saying, "Just sit will ya?" Immediately she beamed and took a seat before he could change his mind.
"Thank you!" She proclaimed. "It is better to eat lunch with someone, than by yourself." Taking out her lunch and placing it on the table. She ate a lot and loved food, but even she felt she went overboard this time. She laughed," I think I made too much lunch"
The demon rolled his eyes and resumed poking at the pot of rice he was eating. She caught him taking a sneaky glance at the katsu chicken she had made. Kagome smiled to herself before taking her chopsticks and placing some of the chicken onto his rice. The demon looked up confused.
Kagome smiled.
"I hope we can be good friends."
The smile she showed him warmed his heart a little. The demon had never been smiled at in such a way. He was not used to someone at school being genuine with him. He couldn't tell if he liked it or if he should be worried. He sighed thinking, 'Suppose she might not try to kill me'
"Inuyasha" he suddenly stated.
Kagome looked surprised. She felt like a total idiot for not asking his name first. She liked the way it sounded. Inuyasha. Kagome looked at Inuyasha, confirming to herself that his name suited him perfectly.
"Kagome." She replied, "It's nice to meet you Inuyasha."
"Yeah... you too" he mumbled, with a small smile on his face.
