Her screams could be heard throughout the entire castle, perhaps even the entire country. Everyone was waiting in anticipation for the child she was pushing out of her. But no one so much as her husband.
"Towels!"
"One more push, madam!"
She pushed with all of her might and gave birth to a son. He was cleaned up, and she cradled him like her life almost depended on him. Word was sent to her husband.
"My Lord Miraz, you have a son."
"The heavens have blessed us. You know your orders, Glozelle."
Who would have thought that the regent of the kingdom would need his nephew dead? He did not NEED him dead, he just WANTED him dead.
As General Glozelle gathered soldiers together, a man with an almost dwarvish look to him snuck into the chambers of the prince, to wake him up.
"Five more minutes, Professor."
"You won't be watching the stars tonight, my prince. Come, we must hurry."
The professor drags the prince out of his bed and to the wardrobe in the corner of the room.
"Professor, what is going on?"
"Your life is in danger. Your aunt has given birth, to a son."
They both hide in the wardrobe, with the professor leaving the door cracked. General Glozelle and his men come into the room, aim their crossbows at the bed, and fire their arrows. After they leave, the professor and the prince escape down a stairway to the armoury. The prince makes sure to get a sword, then they head to the stables to get his horse, Destrier.
"You must make for the woods, Caspian."
"The woods?"
"They won't follow you there."
The professor hands Caspian a wrapped object.
"What is this, Professor?"
"It has taken me many years to find it. Do not use it except in your greatest time of need."
"Will I ever see you again?"
"I hope so, my dear prince. There is so much more I meant to tell you. Everything you know now is about to change."
"Everything?"
They hear soldiers coming, and Doctor Cornelius sends Caspian and his horse off on their way.
"Now go!"
Caspian rides through the courtyard and knocks down a soldier. He crosses the bridge of the citadel and looks back. He sees fireworks bursting overhead, and an announcer speaks to the city.
"A son! A son! Lord Miraz and Lady Prunaprisma have given us, a son!"
Telmarine cavalry soldiers pursue Caspian. He rides into the wood, as Professor Cornelius told him to do. General Glozelle enters the woods, but the other soldiers hesitate.
"Which of you superstitious old women want to spend the night in a cell?"
The rest of the soldiers follow Glozelle into the woods. Caspian crosses a river safely, but when the soldiers cross, one of them is washed away. He looks back at the soldiers and does not find them. When he looks forward again, he sees a tree branch, but it is too late. Caspian is knocked off of his horse and dragged through the woods. His foot is caught in the stirrup of his saddle, which he manages to get unstuck. He lies on the forest floor for a while, when the door to a cave opens up. Out step two dwarves.
"He has seen us!"
One of the dwarves, Trumpkin, draws his sword and runs toward Caspian. He sees the horn that Caspian has and stops. He hears Telmarine soldiers approaching, and tells the other dwarf Nikabrik to take care of Caspian.
"Take care of him!"
Trumpkin rushes towards the Telmarines, with his sword drawn. Nikabrik comes closer to Caspian, and Caspian grabs the horn.
"No!"
He then blows it, and Nikabrik hits him, knocking him out.
In another world, it was getting hard to breathe. For all of them. They had spent more time breathing in clean, magical air, that they plum forgot about smog. Why did they have to come back? The six children had been sent to boarding schools, across the street from one another. The girls at St. Finbar's, and the boys at Hendon House. Ten-year-old Lucy Pevensie is running across a street in London. A driver slams on his brakes and hits his car horn.
"Watch yourself, love!"
"I'm so sorry!"
"Watch where you're going!"
Lucy continues to run through the streets, looking for her sister. Susan Pevensie is standing at a magazine and newspaper stand, when a boy walks up to her.
"You go to St. Finbars?"
"Yes, that's right."
"I go to Hendon House, across the road. I've seen you, sitting by yourself."
"Yes, well, I just prefer to be left alone."
The boy did not get the hint.
"Me too! What's your name?"
"Phyllis."
Lucy runs up to them, trying to get Susan's attention.
"Susan! You better come quickly!"
Lucy grabs Susan's hand, dragging her to the subway station. Once they get there, they see a large crowd, and try to search for the rest of their family. From the top of the steps, the girls could see Peter and Ivar being thrown around by a group of boys. Susan just rolled her eyes at him. Edmund runs down the steps to help his brothers.
"Edmund!"
"Wait, where is Kayla?"
Kayla is also being thrown around, but she gains the upper hand. Soldiers come in with their whistles blowing to break up the fight.
"Come on, come on! Break it up! Act your age!"
Kayla gives a few last words to a boy she was fighting.
"You're lucky I didn't take off my nylons and strangle you with them, boy, 'cause in America, you would be dead for catcalling me, and there would be smoke coming out of my Daddy's shotgun. Now, get to runnin'!"
The Pevensies, Ivar, and Kayla grab their school bags and head for a bench to wait for the train to school.
"You're welcome, Peter."
"I had it sorted."
"Did you, now?"
"What was it this time?"
"He bumped me."
"So you hit him?"
"No. After he bumped me, he tried to make me apologize. That's when I hit him."
"How did you get mixed up in that mess, Kayla?"
"The boy that bumped into Peter started catcalling me. I ain't a pretty trinket."
"I stepped in to defend them both."
"Thank you, Ivar."
"Nice to see I'm appreciated."
"Really, is it that hard to just walk away?"
"Walk away from being treated like an object? Hell no! I threatened to kill the kid! To his face!"
"I shouldn't have to walk away, Susan! I mean, don't you ever get tired of being treated like a kid?"
"Um, we are kids."
"Well, I wasn't always."
"WE weren't always kids, Peter. WE."
"It's been a year. How long does he expect us to wait?"
"I think it's time to accept that we live here. There's no use pretending any different."
"Pretending, Susan? I'm sorry, but I can set this whole subway station on fire with just a twist of my wrist. That is not pretending. We aren't from this world!"
Susan knew Kayla had a point, there was no denying it. She looked off down the tracks, and saw the geeky boy that was talking to her earlier.
"Oh, no. Pretend you're talking to me."
"We are talking to you."
"OW!"
"Quiet, Lu."
"Something pinched me!"
"Edmund, stop pulling!"
"I'm not touching you, Peter."
"Ivar, let go of my skirt!"
"I don't have a hold of your skirt, Kayla!"
"What is that?"
"It feels like magic!"
"Quick, everyone hold hands!"
"I'm not holding your hand!"
"Just grab my hand!"
Ivar held out his hand to Kayla. She rolled her eyes and grabbed it. A train was passing by very fast, and the bricks of the station are falling off of the walls. Everyone had a feeling inside, they knew what was happening. Everything around them disappeared, and they stepped into the sunlight. They all knew exactly where they were.
"WE'RE HOME!"
They all run off to go play in the water, when Edmund looks up at a cliff, and wonders where he is.
"Where do you suppose we are?"
"Well, where do you think?"
"Well, I don't remember any ruins in Narnia."
They all look up at what Edmund is staring at, and realize he is right.
