The family and Trumpkin are watching the Telmarines build the bridge at Beruna. They are careful to keep themselves hidden.

"Perhaps this wasn't the best way after all."

"The one time I can agree with your logic, Susan."

They all head back to the gorge to figure out how to get to the Shuddering Wood.

"So, where exactly do you think you saw Aslan?"

"I wish you'd all stop acting like grown-ups. I didn't think I saw him, I did see him."

"I am a grown-up."

"Then start having some child-like faith, Trumpkin. At this point in time, you need it."

"It was right around-."

The ground where Lucy was standing collapses. The others rush over to make sure she is safe.

"Here."

There is a steep and narrow path going down into the gorge from where Lucy was now standing. They all walk down the path and cross the gorge. Lucy slips a bit, but Trumpkin safely catches her. They stop for the night to make camp and find something to eat.

"Who wants to go get firewood?"

"I'll go. I'm the one with the axe."

"I'll go with you, Ivar. After all, I am the one who's gonna start the fire."

Kayla wanted to talk with him about the fight that went on at the train station.

"Is there anything in particular you need to say, Kayla?"

"Yes. Thank you for defending me when that boy catcalled me."

"That was something I had and didn't have to do. I knew you could handle that boy on your own, I just feared they would get the upper hand over you."

"You feared?"

"Yes, I did. You've got a country to take back. And this world couldn't risk something happening to you in that world."

At the campsite they had chosen, Peter was watching Ivar and Kayla walking in the woods, while Edmund decided to make it interesting.

"Four pounds says they share a kiss before they come back."

"Edmund!"

"What? We all know it needs to happen."

"And it probably will. I just don't think it will today."

Susan and Lucy come back with some apples, Trumpkin comes back with a clean catch of fish, and Kayla and Ivar come back with the firewood. Kayla throws a ball of flames at the wood, starting the fire they need and surprising Trumpkin at the same time. After they all eat and the sky begins to turn dark, they all lay down ready to sleep, but Lucy and Susan stay awake.

"Lucy, you awake?"

"Hmm."

"Why do you think I couldn't see Aslan?"

"You believe me?"

"Well, we got across the gorge."

"I don't know. Maybe you didn't really want to."

"You always knew we'd be coming back here, didn't you?"

"I hoped so."

"I just got used to the idea of living in England."

"But you're happy to be here, aren't you?"

"While it lasts."

"Susan, it will last."

"Kayla, how do you know?"

"I'm never wrong. That's how I know. We were sent away from this world for our safety. Maybe our year away was a test."

"What kind of test?"

"I don't know. Just a test."

They all go to sleep. At dawn, Lucy hears a growl and wakes up. She gets up and walks away from the others. She pushes branches out of the way as she makes her way through the forest. A dryad floats past her laughing. The trees move aside, making way for her.

"Lucy."

Lucy runs, and Aslan is there. The lion stands on top of a small hill. Lucy joyfully runs over and hugs him.

"I've missed you so much! You've grown!"

"Every year you grow, so shall I."

"Where've you been? Why haven't you come to help us? Why can't you come roaring in and save us like last time?"

"Things never happen the same way twice, dear one."

A twig snaps, waking Lucy from her dream.

"Susan, get up!"

"Certainly, Lu. Whatever you like."

Susan rolls over and keeps on sleeping. Lucy walks away, hoping the others would wake up.

"Wake up."

She keeps on walking and hears a growl.

"Aslan?"

Someone sneaks up behind Lucy, puts a hand over her mouth, and drags her back. Lucy sees that it is Peter. They look over and see that the source of the growl; a minotaur. Peter signals Lucy to be quiet, draws his sword, and slowly starts walking toward the minotaur. Then, Caspian comes out of nowhere. They begin fighting. Peter swings, misses, and sticks his sword into the tree. Caspian kicks Peter and he falls. Peter recovers, coming at Caspian with a rock, and Caspian picks up Peter's sword. Lucy runs up to stop them from fighting anymore.

"No, stop!"

They stop. Peter looks around as the Narnians come out of hiding. Caspian points Rhindon at Peter, ready to strike him if need be.

"Prince Caspian?"

"Yes. And who are you?"

"Peter!"

Susan, Edmund, and Trumpkin run up to see what is going on. Caspian looks at the sword in his hand and sees the lion head hilt and the inscription on the blade.

"High King Peter?"

"I believe you called."

"Well yes, but, I thought you'd be older."

"Well, if you'd like, we could come back in a few years."

"No! No, it's alright. You're just, you're not exactly what I expected."

Caspian looks over at Edmund, Trumpkin, and Susan. His eyes linger the longest on Susan, making her blush and smile a bit.

"And neither are you."

Edmund looks over at a minotaur, remembering his time with the White Witch.

"A common enemy unites even the oldest of foes."

"We have anxiously awaited your return, my liege. Our hearts and swords are at your service."

"Oh my gosh, he is so cute."

Reepicheep draws his sword, ready to strike whoever he feels insulted him.

"Who said that?!"

"Sorry."

"Oh, uh, your majesty. With the greatest respect, I do believe courageous, courteous, or chivalrous might more befit a knight of Narnia."

"Well, at least we know some of you can handle a blade."

"Good. Because we're going to need every sword we can get."

"Well then, you'll probably be wanting yours back."

Just as Caspian hands Rhindon back to Peter, Kayla and Ivar come running up, receiving looks from the rest of the family.

"There you two are!"

"Peter, don't give me that look, 'cause I will sure as hell wipe it clean off your face. We were looking for you."

"Sure you were, Kayla."

"We were!"

"Well you can stop looking for me, and we can stop looking for Prince Caspian."

"Oh, good. You found him."

"Caspian, this is Lord Ivar and Lady Kayla."

"As in Ivar of the Northern Lands and Kayla of Terebithia?"

"Yes, exactly."

"Speaking of Terebinthia, I need to talk to a centaur."

Kayla runs up to the closest centaur she found, which just happened to be Glenstorm.

"Trumpkin told me that a centaur would be the best to ask for whatever is going on in Terebinthia. Do you know what has gone on there since we've been gone?"

Glenstorm looked at her with worry. He did not know if she was prepared for what he was about to tell her.

"Your brother Conláed, still has control over Terebinthia. There was a revolt among the Islands when he took control, and the Lone Islands were moved into Narnian time. Your people need you, my lady."

"Not as much as I need them."

Kayla ran off into the woods, knowing what happens when her emotions hit her too hard. Ivar went with her to hold back her hair as she puked up her feelings. Lucy gave her a drop of her cordial after she let it all out.
