General Glozelle was showing Miraz empty armour and weapons wagons, with the Telmarine army surprised everything was missing.
"How much did they take?"
"Enough armour and weapons for three regiments. But, there's more."
He closes the gate on a wagon, revealing a note left by Caspian.
"You were right to fear the woods."
"X?"
"Caspian. The tenth."
"I apologize, my lord. The blame is mine."
"I know. Tell me, General Glozelle. How many men were killed?"
"None, sir."
"None?"
"They came like ghosts in the dead of night?"
"Then how do you explain your injuries?"
Glozelle looks at Miraz confused, then Miraz hits him across the face, making him bleed a bit.
"I asked, how many men were killed in this bloody Narnian attack, of which you were the fortunate survivor? General, how many?"
"Three."
"My apologies, Lord Sopespian. Caspian is not the victim of this savage uprising. He is the instigator. It seems Narnia is in need of a new king."
The Narnians, led by Peter and Caspian, walk through the forest. Peter and Caspian are discussing how Caspian came upon the Narnians, while Trufflehunter is inquiring about the rulers of old.
"So, what are they like?"
"Complainers. Stubborn as mules in the morning."
"So you like 'em, then?"
"Well enough."
They arrive at Aslan's How. Centaurs stand on either side of the entrance and raise their swords. Caspian stops and lets the family go first, as it is their right. The Pevensies stand in front, while Ivar and Kayla are behind them, and Caspian is behind Ivar and Kayla. Lucy smiles at a child centaur who is holding his sword too low. They enter the How and find Narnians making weapons.
"It may not be what you are used to, but, it is defensible."
"We honestly couldn't ask for better to work with."
Susan comes running into the room from the hallway, wanting to show everyone what she, Lucy, and Edmund had found.
"Peter! You may want to see this."
Caspian, Kayla, and Ivar follow Peter into the hallway, with Caspian giving Susan a kind glance along the way.
"It's us."
"What is this place?"
"You mean, you don't know?"
There are carvings on the walls of when the family came back to Narnia, and their Golden Age reign. One carving in particular was of Mr. Tumnus at the lamppost. Carrying torches, they walk further down the hall. When they reach the end, Caspian lights a fire in the oil well that spreads throughout the room. There are carvings on the walls of Narnians and Aslan, and there in the centre of the room is the cracked Stone Table. Lucy walks forward and places her hand on it.
"He must know what he is doing."
"I think it's up to us now."
Susan gathers some archers together for archery practice outside. The target is the armour from a dead Telmarine soldier. Everyone shoots their arrows at the target, but not a single one hits it.
"Nope! Not a scratch!"
"It's alright. Rome wasn't built in a day."
"How long did it take?"
"What's Rome?"
"It's, it's just a phrase."
Right as Susan was speaking, an arrow flies past her head and hits the target.
"Hey!"
"Nice shot! Which one of you-."
"Good afternoon, Your Majesty."
Caspian was the one that fired the arrow from his crossbow.
"I thought you could use some help."
"Things are well in hand, thank you."
"I did not mean to suggest otherwise."
"I suppose you could do better."
Caspian loads another arrow into his crossbow, ready to impress the Gentle Queen.
"Pick a target."
"Do you see that pinecone?"
"No problem."
Susan gets up closer to Caspian to move his aim a bit higher. Caspian gets flustered at her touch.
"That pinecone."
"Are you sure that's not an acorn?"
"Too far for you?"
He gives her a look that says challenge accepted. He fires his crossbow, and the arrow narrowly misses the pinecone.
"Not bad."
"Well, I was trained by the finest in the Telmarine army."
"Well, if that's the best they've got, we might stand a chance after all."
She strings up an arrow and fires it at the pinecone, bringing it down from the tree. When she looks at where the pinecone landed, a Telmarine soldier is in the woods spying on them. Caspian and Susan both load their bows to kill the soldier, before he gives away where they are.
Back inside the how, everyone is discussing plans for battle.
"It's only a matter of time. Miraz's men and war machines are on their way. That means those same men aren't protecting his castle."
"What do you propose we do, sire?"
"We need to get ready for it."
"We need to strike. Our only hope is to strike them, before they strike us."
"But that's crazy. No one has ever taken that castle. "
"There's always a first time."
"We'll have the element of surprise."
"But we have the advantage here."
"If we dig in, we could probably hold them off indefinitely."
"They're right, Peter. We need to have the advantage, not the Telmarine soldiers. At the castle, they have it. We don't. I'm just not trusting this idea."
"I for one, feel safer underground."
"Look, I appreciate what you've done, but this isn't a fortress, it's a tomb."
"Who the hell is buried here?!"
"And if the Telmarines are smart, they'll just starve us out."
"We could collect nuts!"
"Yes, and throw them at the Telmarines! Shut up, Patterwig! I think you know where I stand on this, sire."
"If I can get your troops in, Glenstorm. Can you handle the guards?"
"Or die trying, my liege."
"That's what I'm worried about."
"Sorry?"
"Well, you're all acting like there are only two options; dying here, or dying there."
"I'm not sure you've really been listening, Lu."
"No, you're not listening. Or have you forgotten who really defeated the White Witch, Peter?"
"I think we've waited for Aslan long enough."
Kayla gets up from where she is sitting and walks out of the Stone Table room.
"Kayla! Where are you going?"
"As my title of Lady Protector of Narnia, someone needs to stay here with Lucy. Peter, you know I am never wrong, and I know that this plan is not going to go the way we want it to. Who knows how many are going to come back alive?! And who knows WHO will come back alive?!"
"Kayla, you need to come with us on this."
"NO! Peter, yes you are still High King, but I cannot listen to you on this! I am staying in the how! I am making this decision not only for y'alls, but for my people across the sea, who need me alive! If I was to die in this raid, Terebinthia is lost! I am not letting that happen!"
No one else tried to stop her from walking out of the room.
