Inside Aslan's How, Susan and Lucy climb up on Caspian's horse, Destrier.
"Destrier has always served me well. You are in good hands."
"Or hooves."
Lucy's comment makes Caspian smile. Then he looks up at Susan.
"Good luck."
"Thanks."
Caspian pulls out the horn.
"Maybe it is time you had this back."
"Why don't you hold onto it? You might need to call me again."
The girls ride off as Caspian watches, hoping they stay alive.
"You might need to call me again?"
"Oh, shut up!"
He heard what Lucy said as they rode out, and small blush came across his face.
In the Stone Table room, the boys and Kayla are getting ready for battle. Kayla is reading Peter's mind.
"I know what you're thinking, Peter."
"And what am I thinking, Kayla?"
"You need me to say a prayer. It won't hurt if you say one this time."
"But you're the one with the way with words."
"Alright. I'll still say one."
Caspian did not know who the prayer was to, but he still bowed his head and listened.
"Great God Almighty, we need you now as much as we do every day. We're going up against a great army, greater than we have seen yet. If it is your plan that we don't make it, then so be it. And if it is your plan that we do make it, then so be it. Please let Lucy and Susan find Athair, and please let peace be brought between Narnians and Telmarines. And for Ivar and I, please let us convince our people to drop their weapons. They have yet to be delivered from their tyrants. Let the deliverance start now. Amen."
Peter, Edmund, Caspian, Ivar, and Kayla all walk out of Aslan's How as the Narnians cheer them on.
"If it should appear to be going poorly-."
Glozelle looks at the crossbow in his hands.
"Understood, my lord."
Peter draws his sword and steps forward. Miraz steps forward and they begin circling.
"There is still time to surrender."
"Well, feel free."
"How many more must die for the throne?"
"Just one."
Peter pulls down his helmet and jumps at Miraz. They begin fighting. The two armies cheer. All the while, Kayla is praying in her heart and her head. Then she and Ivar sneak out to the Terebinthian and Ettinsmoor troops.
"You do realize we'll be seen, Kayla?"
"No, we won't. Grab my hand."
Ivar grabs her hand, and they both turn invisible.
"How will we find them? They're all wearing Telmarine armour."
"I'll have to read their minds. That's the best way to find them."
They run off into the woods all the way to the back of Miraz's troops. They hide behind two trees, even though they're invisible.
"Can we be heard?"
"No."
Kayla sits down and reads the troops' minds and she listens to their voices, to listen for distinctive accents. She finds the Ettinsmoor troops are the ones closest to the trees, and the Terebinthian troops are the ones on the far side.
"Ivar. Ettinsmoor's troops are right in front of us. Terebinthia's are on the far side."
"What will we say to them?"
"We'll think of something. Don't worry."
They both walk out of the woods hand in hand, and when Ivar stands in front of the Ettinsmoor troops, Kayla lets go, making him visible again. Kayla is still invisible, until she stands in front of the Terebinthian troops. The leader of the Ettinsmoor troops points his sword at Ivar, but it does not phase him.
"Do you even know who I am, soldier?"
"Should I?"
"Yes. I am Íomhar, son of King Ragnall and Queen Ainnir of Ettinsmoor and the Wild Lands of the North. My parents were driven into the mouths of the giants by the White Witch when I was only a young boy. I have barely a memory of them. I was sent to the other world so I myself would not be eaten. When I arrived back here with the descendants of Aslan, I was made Lord Protector of Narnia, but I knew I had my people to rescue, even when I was told there were no humans left."
"The humans that were left in Ettinsmoor lived in hiding for many centuries, until we took back control."
"And who is your king now?"
"The king of the giants."
"As your human king, I ask you to drop your weapons and fight on my side, or at least save yourselves, and then we can once again establish humans in the Northern Lands, rightfully so."
The soldiers looked at each other, and then to Ivar, who they saw was carrying the axe of Ettinsmoor kings.
"He is who he says he is. He carries the axe of the kings."
The Ettinsmoor troops leave the battle and head back to the bridge of Beruna. Kayla was having a harder time with the Terebinthian troops.
"How do we know you are who you say you are?"
Like she said she would, she unsheathes her sword, and the blade burst into flames. The eyes of the soldiers widen with fear and shock.
"King Conláed is supposed to have that sword! You stole it from him!"
"I highly doubt that I did. It was given to Father Christmas for safe keeping, until he gave it to me. You all know the blade burst into flames in the hands of the Queen of Terebinthia. So what makes you think it would do so in the hands of my brother? Besides, this sword has been missing from his grasp since I was sent away. I can guarantee he's known that."
She was the woman Conláed warned his troops about. Kayla conjured up balls of flame from her hands, ready to throw them at the soldiers if she had to, which she hoped and prayed she did not.
"I am the daughter of Queen Úna of Terebinthia and the Great Lion Aslan. I was sent away when I was five years old to another world for my safety, where I grew up with the other four descendants of Aslan and Íomhar, son of Ragnall and Ainnir of Ettinsmoor. My time to take back Terebinthia has not yet come, but you all should not have to suffer now. Return home, and I will bring Terebinthia the peace it has longed for. The islands will once again be united."
Just like with the Ettinsmoor troops, the Terebinthian troops turned around and headed for the bridge of Beruna. Ivar and Kayla had succeeded in keeping their yet-to-be-rescued people from being destroyed.
