As Caspian was getting ready for his coronation, Peter, Edmund, and Ivar came up to his chambers to give him some comforting words.

"Caspian? May we come in?"

"Of course."

"How are you feeling?"

"I feel like I am still not ready for this."

"Is anyone ever ready?"

"We sure weren't."

"Listen, Caspian. In our battle with the White Witch, we didn't even know if we would be alive when the battle was over. I was the one leading the army. I charged against her army not knowing what would happen afterward, despite the fact that she murdered our families."

"I was the one who destroyed her wand. I cut it in half, and then she stabbed me with it. I almost didn't make it. I almost didn't make it even before the battle."

"The point is, Caspian, a good king is humble. You're the most humble soul we've seen in a long time."

"I just hope the ceremony goes well. And the ball."

"Oh, don't worry about the ball. Kayla said she had to redesign everything because Narnians and Telmarines alike were complaining about equal representation, and both sides claimed the other was taking up too much space. So, she had to come up with something everyone would like."

"If anyone knows how to put a ball together, it's Kayla. She even makes the grandest balls in our world's history look boring."

"How long has Aslan stayed when things happen?"

"He comes and leaves on his own time. We have no say on it."

"Even though he is our grandfather."

Caspian could not help but wonder if the family would be staying, but he did not feel it was his place to ask. He thought they maybe did not know the answer.

"I'll probably have a new crown made. I don't like the size of this one. I've seen pictures of the ones you all wore, and those are honestly more to my liking."

"We don't blame you. Look on the bright side, you'll only have to wear the Telmarine crown for the coronation ceremony."

"I am certainly not wearing it for the ball."

"You don't need a crown for the people to know you're a king."

"My ancestors, none of them were humble. Except for maybe my father, they probably did not know the meaning of the word. But I barely remember my father enough to know that answer. Do you remember your fathers?"

"I was the same age as Peter when my parents were killed."

"I was seven when our parents were killed. Susan was six, Edmund, you were four and Lucy was a year old. Our memories of them are coming back slowly. At a different pace for each of us."

"What was your father like, Peter?"

"From what I've remembered so far, he was willing, very willing, to give up the title of prince. Our mother was willing to give up the title of princess. And it seems as though our grandparents would have let them. Our Narnian ancestors didn't care about royalty. They cared about who someone was as a person. I wasn't the first grandchild, on both sides."

"Both sides?"

"The Narnian side and the Terebinthian side. Our father was the only son of Queen Mallaidh and King Ionatán of Terebinthia, and our mother was the youngest child of Aslan and Princess Aibhistín of Narnia."

While Peter was telling him all of this, Caspian could not help but to feel that he had robbed Peter of his birthright.

"I still feel like it should be you all doing this instead of me."

Peter looked Caspian dead in the eye, for the first time since their fight.

"We've had our time ruling here, Caspian. Aslan no doubt has other plans for us. Throughout history in this world and ours, dynasties come and go. It's time for a new one here."

But not even Peter knew what those plans were.

Instead of the throne room, Caspian wanted the ceremony to be held outside, for Narnians and Telmarines alike to enjoy.

Caspian kneels down in front of a tree in the courtyard, with Aslan knighting him and Professor Cornelius placing the crown on his head.

"Caspian, do you promise to govern all of Narnia, creature and human alike, and to protect this land and lay down your life for it if necessary?"

"I promise to do what is expected of me. With all that is in me."

"And do you promise to create a new era for this land? One that was once deemed impossible?"

"I promised to bring the Narnians back into the light and to come out of hiding. I am keeping that promise."

"Now, go forth and do all that you promised to do."

As he stood up, the crowds cheered and asked him to make a speech.

"Telmarines, we have lived in this land long enough, I think it is time we start calling ourselves Narnians. I for one am ready to do so, And if the Narnians will allow it, so should you. This is not Telmar. We have called it Telmar since we came here. It always has been, and always will be Narnia. Until the end of time. You must help me keep the promise that I made. Aslan sang this world into existence. He sang the ability to dance into the trees. He sang the breath of life and speech into animals. Humans have stumbled into this world, but now doubt by the will of Aslan, they stumbled here on what they thought was an accident, but was actually on purpose. And Narnians, if you are willing to accept my people as Narnians, then we promise to make up for the pain and troubles we have caused you all. I gave you all my word at Dancing Lawn that I would restore this land, and I am giving you my word again now. And this is a promise I fully intend to keep."

A parade was led through the citadel streets, with Caspian at the head and the family behind him as support. Narnians and Telmarines alike also followed in the procession. Everyone had the biggest smiles on their faces that had not been seen for centuries. Especially the Narnians, whose smiles had not been seen since the Golden Age.
