Caspian, Kayla, and Ivar were already down in the dining hall when Susan and Lucy walked in.

"Are our parents coming down to join us?"

"My parents and Bobies are already awake. I don't know about the rest."

"I knew I had forgotten something!"

"Ivar, you forgot to check on your own parents?! They're in an entirely new world, and you didn't think to make sure they were handling alright?!"

"I'm going! I'm going!"

"Caspian, you might wanna go with him. They're your parents now, too."

Caspian nodded to Kayla and followed Ivar upstairs.

"How do adoptions work in this world, Caspian? We had a system for it during the Golden Age, but I don't know if it's changed."

"The adopted child is given the name of the new family, and they keep their old surname as basically a nickname. They can still maintain relations with their previous family."

"That's how it was done in ancient Rome and here in the Golden Age."

"Why do you ask?"

"You'll see. Far? Mor? Can we come in?"

"Who is we?"

"Caspian and Ivar, Mor."

"Yes, my boys. Come in."

"Breakfast is ready if you want to come down and eat, Mr. and Mrs. Andersen."

"Please, Caspian. No need to call us Mr. and Mrs. Andersen. Call us Mor and Far."

"You're sure that's alright with you both? I've only known you for one day."

"Since Ivar is willing to call you his brother, we are willing to call you our son."

Ivar hands his parents a note, saying that they should adopt Caspian. Mr. And Mrs. Andersen nod in agreement with Ivar.

"Has anyone else woken up yet?"

"Kayla, Lucy, and Susan are awake. So are Mr. and Mrs. Bedwell, and I'm pretty sure Kayla's grandmothers are awake. I don't know about Edmund and Peter."

"We'll be down there in a few minutes. Is it easy to get lost in this castle?"

"Not that I've noticed. You'll find your way, don't worry."

Once they were in the hallways, Ivar and Caspian ran into Kayla's grandmothers.

"Good morning, little Ivar!"

"Mama, as you can see, Ivar is not little anymore. He's taller than us."

"And you're King Caspian?"

"Yes, ma'am."

"I am Kayla's great-grandmother, but you just call me Bobe Miriam."

"Bobe?"

"It means grandmother in Yiddish."

"And you can call me Bobe Rachel. I'm Kayla's grandmother."

"Does this mean I'm your grandson?"

"The whole of the Pevensies and Ivar have been our grandchildren since they met Kayla. One more added to the family won't hurt."

"I've never had grandparents before."

"Now you do."

Peter and Edmund had arrived in the dining hall, earning jokes and sarcastic comments from Kayla.

"I was wondering when you two would get out from underneath your rock."

"When are you and Ivar going to get out from underneath yours?"

Edmund said that right as Ivar and Caspian walked into the dining hall, earning Kayla and Ivar stares and gasps from everyone in the room.

"Touché."

"Checkmate in this chess match, Edmund."

"Is there something going on between our children, Einar and Dagmar Andersen?"

"I don't know, Thomas and Leah Bedwell. Is there?"

Meanwhile, Ivar had laid his head on the table and Kayla had buried hers in her arms. Their faces were in a mad blush. The Pevensies and Caspian could not help but laugh. Frank and Helen Pevensie could only roll their eyes, while Kayla's grandmothers were about to slap everyone in the room.

"Ivar, after you had gone off to school that last day, the postman came and brought us a package from Professor Digory Kirke."

Ivar lifted his head up, knowing exactly what the package was. His mother had set it on the table, and he grabbed it and ran upstairs to hide it. His first instinct was to hide in Peter's room. Peter was still the only one who could know about it until the time was right.

After breakfast, everyone headed into the council room where the Telmarine lords and head Narnians were already waiting. Caspian did not want to sit on the Telmarine throne, so he had chairs pulled up for himself and the rest of the family.

"Good morning, my lords. Thank you all for answering my call for a meeting. What is the first order of business?"

"My king, you are not sitting on your throne?"

"Since the rulers of old will be ruling alongside me, why should I? We are all on an equal level."

Kayla had chosen to stand alongside the Narnians, should a confrontation erupt, and she had a feeling one would. She was never wrong.

"Well then, the first order of business is you said you wanted to reconfigure the lords that are in this council."

"Yes, that is correct. Instead of twenty Telmarine lords, there should be ten Narnian lords and ten Telmarine lords."

"Caspian, I hope you know that not all Narnians can exactly sit in a chair."

"I know this. But there need to be Narnian lords in here as well. and it seems, Lord Donnon, there are only four Telmarine lords left. Miraz, Sopespian, Arlian, and Belisar all died in battle, and Lord Scythley went to the other world."

"Who do you propose we choose in their stead?"

"I for one choose Professor Cornelius. He has Telmarine and Narnian blood. Now for the Narnian lords, this is Glenstorm the centaur, Trumpkin the dwarf, Trufflehunter the badger, Reepicheep the mouse, Bulgy bear, Daulbus the faun, Alcinius the satyr, Acrisas the minotaur, Acheron the cheetah, and Windbill the gryphon."

"Well then, now that the lord situation is mostly settled, the Terebinthian ambassador has arrived."

At the sound of the word Terebinthian, Kayla looked to Caspian for reassurance that she could stay in the room, and he nodded to her.

"Guards, let in the ambassador."

The doors to the council room opened, and in walked a man Kayla immediately recognized, but he did not recognize her.

"Lord Daithi, welcome to Narnia."

"Thank you for the welcome, King Caspian."

"May I present the rulers of old. King Peter the Magnificent, Queen Susan the Gentle, King Edmund the Just, and Queen Lucy the Valiant, along with the Lord and Lady Protectors of Narnia, Ivar, Baron of the Marshlands and Guardian of the Marsh-Wiggles, and Kayla, Baroness of Dancing Lawn and Guardian of the Dancing Trees and the Dryads. Of course, you know Lady Kayla by another name."

"And what name is that?"

"Caoilfhionn, Queen of Terebinthia and Empress of the Lasair, daughter of Queen Úna and the Great Lion Aslan."

When Kayla said who she truly was, the ambassador's eyes went wide with fear.

"That's not possible. Princess Caoilfhionn was killed nine years ago, along with her whore of a mother."

At that comment, Kayla kicked lord Daithi to the ground.

"As if you knew the truth, cousin Daithi."

"How do I know you are who you say you are?"

Kayla was standing behind him, and she pulled her sword from its sheath and held it against his throat. The heat of the flames of the blade was getting to his eyes.

"Does that answer your question?"

"Any business concerning the relations between Narnia and Terebinthia, Lady Kayla needs to be party to it."

"As do the rest of the royal family."

"And as for the third order of business, Mor? Far? Could you step forward please?"

Einar and Dagmar Andersen stepped forward with a special request for King Caspian.

"King Caspian, we have a very special and important question to ask you."

"Anything you wish."

At that moment, Aslan walked into the council room with Professor Cornelius beside him with Aslan knowing what was going to happen.

"Even though you are a king, you have longed for parents your whole life. We took to you as soon as we met you. So, we would like to say, we would love to become your adoptive parents. Do we have your permission?"

The rest of the family could not believe their ears. Caspian's eyes were watering with tears of joy, but the Telmarine lords were appalled.

"This is preposterous! How do we know they aren't trying to adopt him just so they can have a claim to the throne?!"

It was Aslan's turn to speak.

"Lord Donnon, I beg to differ. When they met Caspian yesterday, they did not know he was king, yet they were already calling him their son."

"And the adoption was my idea. I invited him into my family because he has no family. I was already considering him my brother before he was crowned."

There was nothing more the Telmarine lords could say. The Andersens looked back at Caspian, and he ran to them in a tight hug. Kayla moved closer to everyone else when Susan mumbled something under her breath loud enough for only Kayla to hear.

"I always thought your married surname would be Andersen, Kayla?"

Kayla looked like she was about to smack Susan across the face, but Susan was also referencing herself and Caspian.

Caspian was given the surname Andersen, and he was never happier.
