"Peter."

"Caspian."

"I have a favour to ask."

"What is it?"

"I would like to visit the ruins of Cair Paravel. Glenstorm told me about it. But I want to see them for myself. Would you and the other rulers of old be willing to show me?"

"Of course. But what are you doing for the rest of the day?"

"Oh, I already cleared the schedule."

"Good. Then we can set off now. I'll go tell the others."

"I'll go get Destrier ready."

When Caspian got to the stables, Susan was there grooming her horse, Eirianwen.

"Good afternoon, Your Majesty."

Caspian still stumbled internally whenever he saw Susan. He was used to the others already, but his mind kept going back to when he first met Susan.

"Caspian."

He loved the way she said his name.

"How do you like your horse?"

"She is a beauty. Unfortunately though, she's not a talking horse."

"Have you ridden a talking horse before?"

"Oh, yes. My horse in the Golden Age was a talking horse. Her name was Agnes."

"What did she look like?"

"She was a silver mare. A beautiful, bright, and shiny grey colour. She really glistened in the sun."

Susan was struggling with her saddle a bit, so Caspian helped her set it on her horse. Kayla walked up as they were doing so.

"Hello, you two."

"Kayla, did Peter tell you?"

"Yes, he did."

"What's going on?"

"I asked King Peter if he would be willing to show me the ruins of Cair Paravel. He agreed, and I wish for the rest of you to accompany us."

"It's still such a shame that we have to say the words ruins of Cair Paravel. It's not something I ever wanted to imagine being ruins."

"You and I both, Kayla."

"It's like, every time I saw a castle in the British Isles, it reminded me of home. Windsor Castle, Holyrood Palace, Edinborough Castle, I've seen the ruins of Dunluce. All were enough to make me wanna come back home."

"And no doubt you miss Erdudvyl."

"How can I not?"

"Who is Erdudvyl?"

"Erdudvyl was my horse during the Golden Age of Narnia. She was one of the most optimistic horses you would ever meet."

"And my horse Dagvid was the exact opposite."

"Ivar."

"I see you changed dresses, Kayla."

"Well, it is hard to ride in a mermaid dress. I don't encourage you to wear one, Susan."

Kayla had changed into a long sleeve Jacquard Organza dress with blue lamé fabric. It had a wide skirt, so it was easier to go riding in.

"Here you four are. And, why is it you four?"

"Edmund, your point is?"

Peter came walking up with Lucy in tow and his mouth draped open when he saw Ivar, Kayla, Susan, and Caspian. Mainly because Susan was standing next to Caspian. A little too close for Peter's comfort.

"I agree with Edmund. Why is it just you four?"

"We have names, Peter."

"I also invited our parents, if that's alright with you, Caspian."

"That's fine with me, Peter."

"But they decided to stay behind because Professor Cornelius has offered to tell them Narnian history.

"Did this include my Bobies?"

"Yes, it did."

"Okay, my great-grandmother will not even brush a horse, let alone ride one. And even if she did, she shouldn't be on a horse by herself."

"Well, should we all get going?"

"Yes, we should."

The ride to Cair Paravel also gave Caspian a chance to see parts of the country he had not seen yet. He felt immense regret that he had been secluded from these beautiful lands as a child. Nymphs came out of the waters of the rivers and dryads came out of the trees to greet the royals. To them, it felt like the Golden Age all over again. The western wood was at its full glory. The southern sun blazed brightly on the family. The northern sky had not been so clear in a long time. The glistening eastern sea was in view as the family rode up to the ruins.

"Down there on the beach is how we came back into Narnia this time."

"How exactly did you enter this world?"

"We were at a train station, waiting to head to school."

"What is a train?"

"You could say it's like a carriage, only horseless."

Caspian looked around him, and he could feel something in the air. Maybe it was the presence of the others in Cair Paravel again. Lucy led him to where the dining hall balcony was, and told him that was where they last saw Aslan, before the events of Rabadash's invasion of Archenland took place.

"When Adam's flesh and Adam's bone, sits at Cair Paravel in throne, the evil time will be over and done."

"The evil time?"

"The evil time was the reign of the White Witch. If you could even call it a reign. More like a dictatorship. Her rule was what Miraz was to the rest of Narnia. Unwanted, violent, and just downright dark."

"Edmund, do you have your torch on you?"

"Yes. I had figured Caspian would want to see the treasure room."

The last time anyone was there, Kayla and Ivar had managed to put the stone back in front of the treasure room door.

"Edmund. Ivar. Caspian. Come help me move this stone."

The piece of cloth from Peter's school uniform shirt was still laying on the ground. He picked it up, and it made him think of everything that happened in the other world. Edmund went down the stairs first with his torch to light the way. He opened the gates at the bottom and let everyone in.

"I had also been taught that Cair Paravel was a myth. And that you six were just fairytales."

"Caspian, I think you have Narnian royal ancestry. The pirates came in from the other world to here in the year 460. Your ancestors might have married members of the house of Narnia."

"Is there any way to know for certain, Kayla?"

"Professor Cornelius might have it in his books. The centaurs might know, and of course, Athair would know."

Caspian looked at the statues before him, thinking about why he expected the others to be older.

"You see, this is why I expected you all to be older. Because you were older when you left."

"During the fifteen years we were here, only a split second had gone by in the other world. Who knows how much time has gone by there now?"

"Momma and Daddy said it's still going on. But who has been winning the most battles? Or if America has gotten in by now?!"

Kayla kicked over an old stone in a fit of rage.

"What's wrong, Kayla?"

"I'm sorry you had to see this, Caspian, but in the other world, the country I was raised in has a bad habit of sitting on its ass while the rest of the world fell apart. Loaning ships and supplies to Great Britain, Russia, and France is not enough! Franklin Roosevelt even turned away a ship full of MY people escaping death! He sent them back to Europe to be slaughtered like cattle!"

Everyone was sure Kayla's screaming could be heard across the land, possibly even causing ripples in the ocean. She ran outside and headed down to the beach, to the cave where they had come back home. Ivar ran after her.

"Kayla! You can't go back!"

"I know! But what if there was a way to bring everyone in the nazi death camps here?! Athair?! God Almighty, is there a way?!"

He picked her up and let her cry into his shoulder, soaking his shirt a bit.

"Kayla, if there is a way, it will be made known."

"God sometimes speaks to me in dreams, Ivar! Like with Joseph ad Daniel! What if tells me about the war?! What if He shows me how many have died?!"

Ivar had no words to say. He could only continue to let her cry into his shoulder.
