Dream looked up when the door opened. His mom was the first to walk in and directly behind her was Sapnap. Dream closed his eyes and tried to once again sit up. This time it went better and he was able to get up in a sitting position and rest against the wall. He opened his eyes and looked at his mom.
"Oh, sweetheart." His mom said and walked to his side. She took his hand in hers.
"Sarah ***** and Nick ****** I presume." Dr. Jones said.
"Yes."
"Im Dr. Jones and this is Dr. Miller." Dr. Jones introduced them and his mom and Sapnap shaked their hands.
"Is he okay?" His mom asked with a worried face.
"More or less so, yes. We didn't find any major injuries. But there are still things that can show up later." Dr. Miller said and his mom started to stroke his head.
"I'm sorry mom." He whispered and she just shaded her head.
"No no don't apologize." Dream looked over at the door where Sapnap stood. It looked like he wasn't sure of what to do. Dream tried to smile at him but it was more of a grimace. Sapnap shaked his head and came over to him.
"You had me worried there for a second." Sapnap joked and made sure to give him a light hug so that he wasn't hurt.
"I'm sorry."
"Do you know what happened to the car?" Sapnap asked the Doctors.
"Yes. The front window got completely cracked into pieces of glass and that's where Clay got that wound under his jaw-" Dr. Miller started to explain.
"Wait what?" Dream asked, he wasn't aware of a wound on his face. "Can I have a mirror?" His mom held one out for him.
"That will turn into a nasty scar won't it?" She asked and he took the mirror. He tried to only look at his jaw and not his whole face but it was hard. He had a bunch of scratches all over his face and some bruises here and there. But what was most noticeable was the big wound right under his left jawline. It was about 4 inches long but wasn't that deep from the looks of it.
"Let's put it like this: I'll be surprised if it doesn't leave a scar."
"Oh honey." His mom said and squeezed his hand.
"It's fine mom, it isn't the end of the world."
"You were telling us about the car." Sapnap reminded Dr. Miller.
"...I'm sorry, but it is beyond repair."
"Oh, then I guess you owe me a new one, Dream." Sapnap said and looked at Dream with a serious face and he smiled.
"Nick, this isn't the time to joke."
"But Sarah, it lightens up the mood. And by the way, that was not a joke. I'm serious, buy me a Tesla."
"That would be so unnecessary you never even drive."
"I do!"
"Does anybody have any more questions?" They all shaked their heads. "Then we will leave you alone." The Doctors went out the door and closed it.
"What happened? Were you speeding?" His mom scolded him.
"What? No." He should have seen this coming. Of course they would question what happened.
"Then what did happened?" She asked, sounding as if she doubted him.
"I wasn't speeding!" Both his mom and Sapnap looked at him with their eyebrows raised. He glanced at Sapnap before saying: "I...had a panic attack."
"Again?" Sapnap shouted and Dream turned his head to him.
"Wait, again? Has it happened before?" His mom questioned but they both ignored her.
"Yes, again."
"Clay, that is it. You have to tell us what it is." Sapnap demanded.
"But I don't want to." He whined.
"You were just in a car accident because of it! You can't just avoid it by not saying it."
"Do I have to?" Sapnap aggressively nodded. Dream considered telling them. Like, what was the worst that could happen. Well...okay, there are actually a lot of bad things that can happen.
"Well recently I have been questioning...my sexuality." It's not a complete lie but it's also not completely true. He had already figured that out a long time ago. To the audience and fans he was ambiguous and to himself he was unlabeled. It was just something about labeling his sexuality that he didn't quite like. It was easier to just not label it and just like who he liked.
"That's what's been bothering you?" Sapnap asked and he nodded. "Oh, Clay." He said and went in for a hug, this one less gentle than the last one. His mom joined in with the hug after a bit.
"You know we love you no matter what, right?" His mom asked.
"Yeah dude, we will always love you." They hugged for a while. "Unless it's me that you like." Sapnap joked and Dream laughed.
"Trust me, it's not. You're like a brother to me." Sapnap smiled but it quickly disappeared.
"Uh...actually there is something I have to tell you...but you might get a bit angry."
"What is it?"
"Well...on the way here I might have...called George and uh..." Sapnap couldn't finish the sentence and was avoiding his eyes.
"What? Why did you have to drag him into this?"
"I know i know, i was stupid. But I texted him that you were okay." Sapnap said, and as a second thought: "Do you wanna call him?" Dream nodded and Sapnap pulled out his phone. He clicked to George's contact and then handed the phone to Dream. He looked at them and they seemed to get it.
"Uh...well, we'll be back soon." His mom said and kissed his forehead. She and Sapnap went out and closed the door behind them. Dream looked at the phone and took a deep breath before clicking on the 'call' button and holding it up to his ear. It took less than five seconds for him to answer.
"Fuck you Sapnap! Don't ever do that again." He screamed and Dream held the phone away from his ear.
"Um...hi?" He nervously said. George went quiet and Dream put the phone to his ear again.
"Are you okay?" The words sounded forced and his voice sounded broken, as if he was crying.
"Are you crying?"
"Of course I am! I thought you were dead!" George shouted and then sniffled. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scream at you."
"It's alright and I'm fine, just crashed my car, nothing serious." He joked and he could hear how George let out a stifled laugh.
"Stop joking, it's not funny."
"If it's not funny then why did you laugh?"
"I didn't." He paused. "But seriously, are you okay?"
"Yes George, I'm fine. I just have a lot of scratches on my face and bruises everywhere-"
"Well that's good." George said, more to himself than to Dream.
"-And a big wound under my jawline that will probably turn into a scar."
"Oh, that's not so good." Dream frowned, confused.
"Why does everybody seem so upset about it? It's not like a scar is going to change anything in my life."
"Mhm."
"What do you mean by 'mhm', that's not an answer."
"I mean mhm, idiot."
"Woow. Really George? You're really calling me an idiot when I'm in the hospital."
"Yes, you probably got there by being an idiot." Dream laughed and looked to his side. On the nightstand were some of his belongings.
"Oh, my phone is here. I thought I had lost it." He reached for it and tried to turn it on. "It's dead."
"Sapnap, I'm not going to op you. Just please stop." George begged while tiredly jumping around and placing blocks in Minecraft creative.
"But George." Sapnap whined.
"What do you even need op for, Sapnap? Huh?" Karl asked and George was thankful that he took over the conversation. He didn't have the energy to talk anymore and would much rather just listen to the others talk. It had been over a day since Dream had been in the car accident but George had not been able to sleep since. His head was too much all over the place for him to be able to sleep.
"I just want it!" Sapnap continued to whine. George ignored him and looked over to his second monitor when someone joined the call. When he saw that it was Quackity he stopped completely jumping around and put his hands in his lap.
Great, perfect, just what he needed. Having to talk to his friend about his feelings for Dream. Truly amazing.
"Alex!" Karl happily shouted.
"Karl!" Quackity shouted back, equally as happy.
"Alex!" Karl shouted again.
"Karl!" Quackity also shouted again.
"Sapnap!" Sapnap shouted his own name, probably feeling left out. The three laughed but the laughter soon died.
"So...how are you guys doing?" There was an awkward silence where no one even made a small sound.
"Good." Sapnap eventually said.
"Yeah." Karl followed up with.
"What are you doing?" Quackity tried again when the last question didn't seem to go anywhere.
"Just some Minecraft. Nothing special." George still hadn't said anything.
"Just talking about streams and stuff." Karl added and George realized that the conversation may have seemed cold against Quackity, but that wasn't the case. There was just a lot of tension between them.
"...George?" George refocused again and made a small sound of confirmation. Quackity hesitated. "How are you?" And it all broke, he couldn't keep it all in anymore. All the stress with his secret combined with Dream's car accident combined with no sleep was too much. The tears started to run down his cheeks.
"Hey, hey it's okay George calm down." George heard Sapnap's soothing voice through his headphones, but he couldn't stop or calm down, the tears just kept falling.
After a while George did manage to calm down thanks to the comforting voices from his friends. Now he sat in his chair, embarrassed, for breaking down in front of his friends.
"Sorry." He whispered.
"No no no George, don't apologize. It's fine. We are your friends and we're always here to help." Sapnap assured him. "And with all the stress you have been going through, it's no wonder this is happening. Hell, even I was on the verge of tears that time I called you." George thought back to the call and could imagine it. "George, what I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't be sorry for letting your feelings out. It's really healthy, you know." That made George feel a bit better and he smiled.
"Thank you. I...really appreciate it." George started out and then switched to a more jokeful tone. "Maybe if the whole YouTube thing goes bad you can become a psychiatrist."
"I don't know, I don't think the psychiatrist is supposed to be in need of a psychiatrist himself."
"What do you mean?" George questioned.
"I mean, that you two are children with adult problems that dump everything on me. Then I have to go to Karl so that I don't go crazy." George looked up with a shocked expression.
"What? You've told everything to Karl?" He yelled, not actually upset about it.
"I may have and I may not have. You will never know." Sapnap teased and George rolled his eyes.
"Oh my god, I actually hate you." George sighed and started to jump around in Minecraft again. This time it went better, as he didn't have a bunch of feelings bottled up inside of him. Now what was bothering him the most was the lack of sleep.
"No, you love me." Sapnap said in an ending tone.
"Yes and it's very sad."
"He admitted it. Yes! He doesn't even do it to Dream!" Sapnap excitedly yelled.
"Because that's different, you idiot."
"Oh, I bet it is." George could bet that if he had seen Sapnap's face, he would be winking right now.
"By the way, how is he, Dream?" Quackity interrupted.
"Well…" Sapnap said at the same time as George said 'Um'. But none of them continued.
"Something happened?" Karl asked slowly. Something like this would probably be hard to hide and what was really the harm in telling them. They were all really good friends and they deserved to know.
"Uh...should we tell them, George?" Sapnap asked him and George hummed. "Well, he was in a car accident, he's at the hospital."
"What?" Both Quackity and Karl shouted at the same time.
"Is he okay?" Karl asked.
"Yes, he is. Except for some injuries he's fine. Right now he's with his mom." Sapnap answered.
"Oh my god, these past days he's been through so much. But are you sure he's fine? Like...what happened?" Quackity asked and George listened closely, he hadn't asked Dream that exact question and also wondered.
"Uh...he had a panic attack while driving."
"What?" This time it was George's turn to yell.
"Yeah he told me."
"Why is he having panic attacks all the time?"
"It's not all the time really, only twice now-"
"Sapnap." George interrupted him.
"I don't think I have permission to share why. It's private."
"But Sapnap-" This time it was Sapnap who interrupted George.
"No, you will have to ask him yourself. I'm not gonna tell you." That was the end of that conversation.
Three days later he got out of the hospital. The only ones he had talked to under those three days were Sapnap, George, his mom and his siblings. All his other friends on the internet had remained unknowing of what had happened. At least that was what Dream thought since Sapnap had taken his phone away. He had claimed that Dream was just going to Tweet something stupid if he had his phone. Therefore he had only been able to talk to George via Sapnap's phone.
In reality tho a lot of those in the Dream smp knew, possibly everyone. That may or may not have been Sapnap's fault since he had been in a call with a lot of them and somehow he ended up saying it.
"Remember to call me if you have any problems or anything like that. Okay?" His mom said as he got out of her car. Dream was pretty sure that even if he did have some kind of problems, he wouldn't call her. Not because he didn't trust her, but just because that was the kind of person he was. He didn't like to drag others into his problems and preferred to solve them by himself.
"Yes mom, I will." He said and waved as she drove off. He then went to the door and opened it.
"Hi!" Sapnap said directly after he had gotten inside. He had probably been waiting for him to come home.
"Hi."
"You wanna do something? Like order some food and watching a movie?" He asked excitedly.
"Um...sure." Dream said, a bit suspicious. Sapnap was acting weird, more than usual that is.
"Great!"
After Sapnap had offered to order the food, Dream went up to his room. It was as he remembered it, messy and dark, and It was as if he hadn't been away for three days. He put the things he had with him from the hospital on his desk and turned on his computer. It took a while and while waiting he went up to the only window in his room. The blinds were down but he pulled them up. It was beginning to get dark. Soon it was going to get so dark that you wouldn't even be able to see anything.
A sound from his computer indicating that it had started interrupted his thoughts. He went back to it and typed in his password. His inbox was full of messages and he stared at it. He hadn't even been gone for that long, why had all these people messaged him? He clicked on the one who was on the top. It was from Quackity.
Hey man, really hope you are feeling better when you are reading this. Sorry for what you have been through in the last few days. Hope you get better.
Dream frowned. Did he...know? To check he went to another of his friends' massage and it was quite similar. He then continued to go through the messages and they all followed a similar theme. They have to know. But how? He released the answer pretty quick. Sapnap or George, possibly both of them.
"Sapnap!"
