Hey! Thanks to Blues for reviewing the last chapter. Let's crack on.
See chapter one for the disclaimer.
The tri-carrier looked exactly the same as it had 8 years ago. SHIELD weren't known for their home improvement after all.
Fury was already waiting, arms folded looking like something out of a sci-fi.
The helicopter descended slowly and then allowed them out.
Seeing his former charges, Fury gave what passed for a smile and stepped forward to shake their hands individually. "You all look exactly the same." He said, a little wistfully. Then he immediately pulled himself together. "We're downstairs. Sam's already here."
Peter smiled. After so many years it'd be fun to wind Buckethead up.
"What about Danny?" Luke asked, as they followed Fury through the halls.
"Unfortunately it seems he couldn't make it. Important business in Kun Lun. He sends his wishes, however."
Luke frowned. "That doesn't sound like Danny."
"Oh, really?" Fury said, turning to look slightly at Luke. "Interesting. Why do you think that?"
Luke looked like he thought he was being tricked, but replied anyway. "Because last time I saw him - 'bout five years ago now - I asked if he was ever comin' back. He said he would not miss the opportunity for the world. And Danny's a man of his word, I know that. Did you say he sent a letter?"
Fury smiled. "One step ahead of you there, Cage. We've got our lab looking at it and comparing it to other samples of his hand writing. Only thing is they've only got samples from when he was here. They would prefer a more up to date sample-"
Luke looked torn for a moment, then nodded slightly and reached inside his pocket. "This do?" He handed a crumpled piece of paper to Fury who took it and nodded.
"Sorry, the hell is that?" Peter asked. "You just carry random correspondences around with you?"
"It's from last Christmas." Luke said, flushing a little. "He always sends a christmas card."
Ava raised an eyebrow. "From Kun Lun?"
"Doctor Strange delivers it." Luke said, like that explained everything. Which perhaps it did.
Fury suddenly stopped, causing all three hero's to smack into the back of him.
"Sam's in there." Fury indicated the door. "Coulson show them in, will you? I'm going to get this to the lab." And with that he stalked off, cape flying behind him.
The four went in and the first thing they heard was. "Web-Head!"
Peter turned to see Sam - dressed in his Nova outfit and eating a plate of cake - grinning widely and floated towards them for a hug.
"Bucket-Head!" Peter clapped the other man on the shoulder. "Never thought I'd say this but it's good to see you!"
"You to." Sam hugged Ava and then 'bro-hugged' Luke. "How's May?"
"Well, she's had to drop a few of her activities recently, but on the whole she's good."
"Where's Fury gone?" Sam asked, suddenly noticing he wasn't there.
"He's gone to the lab to get them to compare Danny's handwriting with a recent sample." Coulson explained.
Sam nodded. "Cool beans. Well, 'till he gets back can I suggest we part-tay!" And he flew over to the speaker and turned it up.
Peter laughed and started dancing. When in rome-

It was a little while before Fury came back. He stalked into the room like he was imitating Batman and turned the music off.
The four others stopped dancing and looked at him.
Fury cleared his throat. "So, the lab has analysed Danny's handwriting and it looks like the letter wasn't written by him."
Luke looked confused. "Sorry, my letter or your letter?"
"Our letter." Fury clarified. "Your letter is genuine. There's several differences in our letter. Some amateur, clearly."
Ava frowned and mouthed 'Why would-'
Peter was the first to actually speak. "We need to go to Kun Lun and see if he's alright!"
"My thoughts exactly. I take it you have all brought your costumes with you?"
While Sam scoffed and indicated himself, Peter grinned and brought out a small case from his pocket. "Never leave home without it."
Luke leaned over his shoulder. "Your costumes in that?"
"Potable vacuum case." Peter explained. "Iron Man gave it to me."
"You're that close with him?"
Peter shrugged. "We get each other."
Fury cleared his throat and glared.
Luke grinned and slipped a pair of shades on.
Ava sighed. "Okay, I'll admit it, I haven't got mine. I didn't think anything would happen - a stupid thought clearly - but I'm guessing you guys must have spares, right?"
Fury nodded his head a little. "At SHIELD we think of everything." He stated before extending an arm. "Down the hall second on the right. Should have your name on it."
Ava nodded and left.
Sam spoke for them all. "Well, at least it isn't one of Parker's lame villains."
"Hey!"
